Overview
Head to Byron Bay for an experience similar to the Great Barrier Reef without traveling north to the reef itself. Snorkel around Julian Rock Marine Reserve on this 3-hour experience as you search for exotic fish, colorful corals, manta rays, and giant sea turtles. This tour is suitable for all experience levels, with a free, on-site snorkel lesson for beginners.
What to Expect

Arrive at the Byron Bay Dive Centre either at your scheduled departure time, or, if you’d like a free snorkel lesson, arrive 30 minutes before departure to practice in the heated pool. All tour participants must be able to swim to participate in this tour. Receive a short safety briefing before heading out to the Julian Rocks Marine Reserve.

Journey to The Pass—about a 10-minute ride—and learn about this snorkeling spot. Enjoy a 1-hour swim as you spot underwater creatures such as small wobbegong sharks, hard and soft corals, an assortment of rays, and three different kinds of sea turtles. Look for more than 400 different species of fish that make this area their home while you swim and ask any questions you may have to the qualified dive staff.

Head back to shore for a hot shower and some time spent with the crew identifying the creatures you saw.

If you have the money, 100% Recommended

They really do take care of you, and all the reviews you read are accurate. It's pricey, but totally worth it. Would definitely go again if given a choice.

Excellent for beginner snorkellers

Both my Mum (64) and me (36) were very impressed with our experience on the sea turtle snorkelling tour of Julian Rocks. We are both strong swimmers but novice snorkellers. We booked in for the snorkelling lesson in the pool before our boat tour and...More

I have snorkeled on trips in the past but not very often so I was happy that an introductory/refresher class was offered for free 30 minutes before the main meeting time. Another plus to going to this class was that I got to get my...More
