Fabulous couple of hours with Kelly and Sarah, exploring street Art. They were local and knowledgeable, and shared alot of the playfulness and 'weird' of Portland. A great insight in the industrial eastside or Mural area. THk you. from Sydney, Australia

Great trip with impressive Portland insights
On a foggy January day Sarah's tour truly made Portland shine. Her deep knowledge of city history along with humorous anecdotes about early residents was both impressive and a lot of fun. She tailored the trip based on our questions and interests. I would come back to Portland just to take another one of her tours!

Thumbs up to this walking tour!
The guide was very knowledgeable. The spots where we had coffee and/or chocolate were top notch. I have some mobility problems, which she took into consideration, making this a fabulous afternoon all around!

Bike tours are so fun — and easy for any age!
I was worried this tour would be more than my parents — in their 60s — could handle, worried it would be more riding than I wanted, but I had a blast and it was so easy! The guide and staff helped us get comfortable on pretty bikes that worked for us, the weather, while cold, was gorgeous and we just loved the slow pace, the plentiful stops & stories, and it was so fun seeing the city through the eyes of a true local (our guide kept seeing people she knew as we made our way around). It’s such a fun way to see a city, I will look out for bike tours in other cities too!

Warmed up with biking in chilly weather!
I am new to bike tours and was nervous about riding in the rainy season, but it was so wonderful! I loved the variety of things we saw and how easy the biking was. Riding across the bridges was such a fun way to see the city and I appreciated how the guide encouraged us to stop whenever we needed a photo. The approach to history was centered around art and culture and stories that took in Indigenous history and the history of the waterways and plants, so that was a thoughtful perspective. Stopping for donuts was awesome too! Thanks for my favorite new way to see a city!

      Immaculate vibes
It was a lovely ride around the east side of Portland. Sarah was thoughtful, knowledgeable, and a great guide. Her dog Bear was adorable and the food carts she chose were all bangers. It was just her and I on the day after Christmas so some carts were closed, but Sarah never made experience feel lacking and it was nice to hear about the histories of this charming town while snacking on good food. Highly recommend!

A great way to spend 2 hours and learn unusual things about Portland.
Kelly was an entertaining guide, we learnt a lot and spent the evening talking about it to the rest of the family who live here! Just the right length, not too much standing still and 2 Restroom breaks. Thanks Kelly.

      Great guide and great time!
Had a I had an excellent time on my tour with Kelly. She was a great guide, very knowledgable and very easy to talk to. It was just myself and one other guests, so it was nice and intimate and we had lots of chances to talk and laugh and get to know each other. Great way to see Portland through the eyes of someone artistic. Highly recommend.

      Excellent walking tour!
Our walking tour of Portland was great. Our guide was awesome. She was an excellent storyteller and did a fantastic job blending stories about Portland’s past and present, mixing in information about local architecture, urban planning and politics. We learned a ton in 2 hours.

      Stunning Hike
Edwin was a fantastic tour guide. He is hilarious and very knowledgeable. I love how small the groups are for the hikes. I hiked with the loveliest couple. The hike is stunning, you see so many beautiful waterfalls along the trail. We did 5 miles but if you let the guide know you want something shorter he can give you the best route. But the 5 miles is very doable and worth it. He gave the best route to see most of the waterfalls. Ed helped take pictures, gave fun facts about the trail and surrounding city, and made the journey nice and comfortable. I highly recommend this hiking tour.

      history of SE Portland spirits
I've been on several ghost walking tours and really enjoyed this one. The guide was passionate about both historical research and finding the stories of spirits in her neighborhood. I appreciated her focus on women's stories and the under-represented communities and immigrants.

Fantastic bike tour of Portland's mural district, East neighborhoods & rose gardens, and the beautiful waterfront! Kelly was the BEST tour guide - she was enthusiastic, informative, and passionate about her city. Highly recommend this tour!

      History with a witch
Great stories! The guide, born and raised in the city, is an obvious devotee of ghost stories and cemetery lore. She infused her stories with her conversations with local ghost observers, historical research, and the spiritual manifestations of the neighborhood and the region. As the cemetery is closed after dark, the tour takes place near sunset, “magic hour,” so our photos were beautiful

We were in Portland for a few days back in May and were considering renting a car but booked this instead and it was worth it! We did the 8:30am slot so we skipped all the crowds at stops. Perfect amount of time at each stop, our guide was great at explaining the history of the place and recommended areas to check out in Oregon for future trips. Everyone was wearing masks, felt safe. Had a really good time!

If you are in the Portland area, I highly suggest you take part of your trip and book this tour! Worth EVERY penny and will give you an experience you will never forget. Not only are you able to have up close access to the waterfalls, you also have a guide driving you to each one, handling the parking, and informing you the best paths to take to see the waterfalls. It completely eliminates having to find each waterfall on your own, find parking, and find your way. All the falls we visited can be seen from the road, so a great activity for anyone of any age or activity level. We had Eddy as our guide, who I need to give a shout-out too, because he was AMAZING! My friend and I were labeled as the adventure seekers in our group of 10, because we were not afraid to get in the water, hike the paths, and get as close to the falls as we could! When we were punctual with time, our guide even added in an extra stop instead of just ending our trip early!
Again, I can not express enough that everyone needs to experience this incredible, breathtaking opportunity and escape the city vibes for part of your stay! I promise, you won't regret it!
And my tip- our waterproof, hiking sandals (chacos or tevas) were the best investment we made for this trip!

I took this afternoon waterfall excursion as I had time in my schedule. It was very convenient starting at 2 PM. The tour guide, Mel, was excellent. we rode in a small van, our group was just 10 people, and she commentated the trip thoroughly. We stopped at various locations and waterfalls throughout the Columbia Gorge area. At each stop you could take pictures, hike to get a better view of the waterfall, or just relax and enjoy the view.

I had one day in PDX and wanted to see as much as I could. I signed up for the morning City tour (including the Pittock Mansion vista) with Carrie, and the afternoon Columbia River and Multnoma Falls tour with Edwin (and Bear). Both tours were fantastic - warm, knowledgeable and experienced tour guides and a well designed itinerary. It made my short stay in PDX thoroughly enjoyable and I would gladly recommend Around Portland to fellow tourists. Thanks Carrie, Ed and Bear!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and tour guide. He shared lots of history about the area, pointed out different trees, plants, birds. The waterfalls were beautiful and cool on a warm summer day. Highly recommend if you like to see the sights without long hikes, these were very short and do-able.

This was an exceptional tour! The starting point is in the inner atrium of a storage place, but, very easy to find and check in. The van is very comfortable, and, our tour guide Edwin was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we left our location he gave us great recommendations on restaurants, pointed out locations with historical significance (with fantastic Simpson's references no less), started us off at a wonderful local farm / fruit stand, and, then provided a very easy and accessible multi stop tour of the gorge. Edwin would go into great detail about the relevance of each stop which was a perfect pairing to the natural beauty of the landscape. This is called a "hiking" excursion but it is very light and accessible for most. Overall this was an incredible experience which made our families time in Portland extremely memorable.

My tour was amazing with Carrie. I thought she was informative and she took us on an actual hike at the Horsetail falls. I was a little worried at first that we would not do any hiking because I didn't realize at our first stop (Multnomah Falls), they don't allow guides in and it was very paved there. However, that was the only place that didn't allow guides and she took us around and let us explore at each of the stops. She knew a lot about plants and berries locally as well as had amazing food recommendations.

We did this on a weekday and our guide did let us know that Friday-Mondays are much busier so if you are in town for a few days and can do a wednesday/Thursday, the waterfall views might be better with less crowds.

Overall, I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Also, we brought our own water but they gave water and snacks which was great!

The tour was wonderful from beginning to end, largely due to our guide/driver Carrie. Also, we had a pleasant mix of visitors from young (20's) to boomers; fortunately, we were all good walkers. Carrietook us to 4 of the most well-known waterfalls and described how they're classified; we had short and easy hikes for the last two. Just being knowledgeable about the history, geology and local culture isn't enough to be a guide; one also has to be interpersonally adept and a bit of a "mother" in shepherding the flock but doing so gently. Carrie was a perfect guide in all those ways. Plus, she's a safe driver, navigating two lane roads carefully while providing a running narrative. I found her story about the Latourell family with 8 children who became entertainers fascinating! Also, you can ask her for suggestions of restaurants and eateries. She's a fountain of recommendations.

Carrie was an awesome tour guide! She was conscientious of each attendee & made sure that we all were comfortable. Her passion for Oregon is amazing & she was able to provide all sorts of details for the entire drive, not just for the tour specifics. Her knowledge is vast & diverse & provided us with a fun experience! The gorge & falls were simply beautiful.

For the tour it was my brother & I in our mid/late 40s and our 81 y/o mom whose birthday we celebrated that day. The who was with you option does not include an option for family/adults only.

This is a hidden treasure just outside of Portland. My husband and I as well as some of my coworkers enjoyed the trip. The number and size of the waterfalls was amazing. my husband would not classify any of the walks we took to the waterfalls as a hike so as long as you have some basic athleticism you will enjoy it. The only thing we debated was if the price was work it. For the 6 of us to go it was ~$300 and we could rented a car for significantly cheaper and the tour guide didn't provide much to the experience except for the ride.

Hi Jessica! I’m so glad you loved it. I’m sorry you felt your guide wasn’t providing much to the experience — our guides usually get rave reviews about their storytelling and knowledge. On the day you visited, our guides were dealing with very poor air quality due to persistent fires, so it could have been trouble communicating with your large group with the voice impact of the smoke, which is a significant impediment. We strive always to deliver a five star experience but perfection is a high bar! (Car rental may not be as cheap as you think, also, for a group your size.) I hope you’ll come back.
