About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- D899NOpatriciab0 contributionsAmazingBryan was just amazing! It was one of the best tour we had in NZ. We loved the music on the boat Bryan! You rock!!! Thank you for the incredible experience!Written 24 April 2024
- ShrungaliG0 contributionsFantabulous Activity!!!Awesome Experience!!! Stunning Views with a Fabulous and Knowledgeable Guide Brian. Enjoyed a lot. A little more time duration for the Snorkelling would have been better. Thanks.Written 23 April 2024
- gordond4640 contributionsExhilarating, wonderful excursionNotwithstanding that we were fortunate to have great weather and spectacular scenery, the star of the day was Brian and his boat. We really appreciated that we went out with two engines which is so much safer than one rather than the one that other tour operators had. Brian was so considerate of his guests always asking if we were OK about how fast we were going and felt fine. His commentary was informative and full of knowledge. However when he got the green light that we were fine and wanted him to go fast, the fun started. The music was cranked up, the throttle was opened up and we cork screwed to an exhilarating ride. An unforgettable wonderful morning that we will always remember, Thanks BrianWritten 18 April 2024
- Coastal283241964770 contributionsUnique, fun, and stunning--great way to see the Cathedral cove and other areas. This trip was such a blast. We loved our tour guide, Brian. He was so knowledgeable and interesting. The views and overall experience was well worth the time and money. I really liked how he shuffled us around so anyone who wanted in the front of the boat could get a turn and how he played some great tunes as we headed back to the ferry. This tour also offers a spot to jump off a rock in a cave--really cool! Highly recommend this tour to all.Written 31 March 2024
- Culture127490859220 contributionsIncredible experience!Cave Cruzer Adventures gave us the most stunning amazing adventure. From start to finish we felt very safe in Brian's very capable hands. He was super knowledgeable about the area, filling us in on history and sea life stories. Using all sorts of methods to demonstrate the acoustic properties in caves. The opportunity to snorkel through a stunning cave was the icing on the cake. Thank you so much for an awesome day. I cannot rate this business highly enough!Written 26 March 2024
- mepling0 contributionsFast, fun, and lots to exploreBrian explores several caves. Offers a chance to snorkel. Knows a lot about the area and is passionate about the culture. We loved that this boat is fast and he loves to go fast (not a slow boring tour boat). We only had 9 in our group and he brought us into caves that we could fit into. He drives the boat well. The only disappointment (that in all fairness he explained why) was we didn't get to get out and explore under Cathedral cove (which is not supposed to be allowed anyway). He asked our group what we wanted to do with our time and we appreciated that he asked.Written 23 March 2024

- feganxp0 contributionsCathedral Cove close upJust spent a wonderful couple of hours with Brian on the Cave Cruze tour. Got really up close to all the interesting features on Cathedral Cove backed up with a very informative commentary from Brian. All this + disco beats and an exhilarating return journey to port make this a great way to spend a couple of hours in WhitiangaWritten 15 March 2024

Took us to places we noted that the other boats doing same thing didn’t go to. This tour I seriously recommend to all and get ready for a fast paced thrill ride. Loved it!Written 10 March 2024

- helendW7372PB0 contributionsExhilarating, scenic ride on Cave CruzerA great fun experience, with fantastic scenery and an exhilarating, fast boat ride. Having no roof was good as we were able to get into caves. Really appreciated the stops for photos. Seeing the fish come right up to the boat was exciting. Brian gave a great commentary when we slowed and stopped.Written 2 March 2024
- Wanderwarden0 contributionsFantastic trip! Thanks Brian for a brilliant time on the water today! To think we very nearly didn't go! That was a cracking two hours of fascinating sights, great company, and the thrill of the 300hp engines sending us across the waves like a roller coaster. Your steering may have had something to do with it as well. Cave Cruzer Boat Tours are a must!Written 12 February 2024

If your in Whitianga this is a must do, Brian is a first class skipper and tour guide ensuring we got great value for our trip despite less than perfect conditions. Amazing his driving skill in maneuvering into and around one cave. Soft riding and dry boat with very quiet and powerful (new) outboards.

After visiting whitianga and the coromandel for years it was the first time I had experienced it from the water. This trip is a must for anyone visiting the area.
Brians knowledge of the area and local Maori legends made the trip very interesting and his ability to manoeuvre the boat into the caves allowed us all to see some amazing sites. Was a great few hours spent seeing a beautiful part of New Zealand.

We had a great trip with Brian. It was a little rough on the water but that did not stop us from enjoying the trip. He gave an excellent commentary, we got up very close and into a few caves, saw lots of fish and even a small shark on the way back. We highly recommend thie trip to see the best of the caves and coast.

Unfortunately we had a windy day and were given the opportunity to opt out of do another day but everyone who booked chose to go. Brian explained everything clearly, checked on us regularly to make sure everyone was riding ok (not too bumpy or wet). Although the swells were up He took us through the hole in the rock with precision. We went out into the open ocean briefly, but being pretty rough Brian opted for safety which we were fine with as we did have young children on board. Tour was cut short and they gave us a small refund. We did get to see most things. We were happy.

My wife and I booked this after looking at several options and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. Brian made us feel at ease and explained everything about the boat and what to expect before we set off. Despite a slight swell we always felt completely safe and Brain was clearly an expert skipper for these waters. The speed when it was safe to do so was exhilarating. He took us into many of the smaller caves which the larger boats cannot access and pointed out lots of the sea and bird life for us. We would highly recommend taking this trip.

Brian is an expert with the boat. He's super friendly. When Brian says hang on, he's not kidding. He just floors it. You never feel unsafe. He takes you into all the caves. We have a 2 and 6 year old and Brian recommended the back seat. I'd recommend it too as it's more comfy and very safe for the kids. If you sit at the front, there's no way you can hold onto your 2 year old and to the boat.
Again, it's totally safe. Brian always checks with everyone to make sure that everyone is comfortable at all times.
Please note that the back seat is noisy but comfortable to sit. My wife had a headache due to the petrol fumes, she's got a sensitive nose. The kids and I had no problems.
Brian, if you can get a soundproof cover for your engine and if that re-directs fumes away from the back seat and if a dealer sells it in Auckland, I'm more than happy to hand deliver it to you for $100 from Auckland. geoff1985@gmail.com

What a fabulous trip. Brian is an excellent tour guide with lots of interesting information. He has a great sense of humour and whilst he made the trip a real adventure, our safety was upmost.
The RIB is a perfect boat for getting up close to take that perfect photo of all the exciting places and I commend Brian for his boating skills in negotiating his way in and out of the caves as well as handling some pretty challenging weather conditions.
Definitely the most fun I’ve had out on the water.
Amazing adventure. Thanks

After researching all the other options of exploring this marvellous coastline we settled on Brian from Cave Cruzer and we were certainly not left wondering or disappointed. A boat without a roof (which many have) is most certainly advantageous as it allows greater access to the caves / blowholes etc which is a definite must afterall isn't that why we go out there, and many of the other vessels can't always achieve this. Brian's a good buggar and keeps you well informed of the history within the area (make sure you get him to blow his horn though !!!) All this and still had time for a snorkel, WELL worth it you won't be disappointed.

I highly recommend the Cave Cruzer tour. It's amazing value for money. The boat itself was incredibly fun, getting up to some great speeds but still remaining comfortable. The views were outstanding, and we stopped in multiple places for photo opportunities. We heard history tidbits which were really interesting, and we went inside caves and blowholes. The boat has a compartment you can store your gear in, which kept everything safe and dry. Today we even saw a pod of dolphins. Brilliant activity - definitely not one to miss.

Small boat with a 250 HP engine provided an exciting ride. It's a small comfortable boat and Brian's commentary was very informative and interesting and of course you could ask questions to your heart's content.
I very much enjoyed seeing one beach after another and getting the lay of the land.
