      Could be better
Lower level deck that is climate controlled is not for routine seating but only for the cafe with a few tables. Becomes overcrowded early on, you can't see the buildings from the lower level windows. Otherwise the tour itself is interesting. Wouldn't do it in the winter months.

      Beautiful views of the city
Nice cruise down the river. We did the 3:30 cruise and it was great. Your guide was funny and informative. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area. It’s a nice view of the skyline. Worth the price for us.

      A Must See of Chicago
Enjoy a relaxing, historic and current event tour of Chicago’s ‘other shoreline’. Boats are clean, safe, punctual and very informative. Recommended on a warm summer evening. See the hidden side of the windy city.

      Two thumbs up
Their tour guide was awesome. She is very knowledgeable, and the English accent made it so pleasant to hear. Bring a jacket in October.

      Fab tour!
Loved this tour! A great way to see the city. Our guide was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable, wish I could remember her name! Shame some of the guests were speaking over her but she remained calm and polite. Would highly recommend.

Perfect quick tour of Chicago architecture.
Perfect quick tour of Chicago architecture. We choose right before sunset so got some day and night shots. I could see it being good for sunny days too. Tour guide was awesome and knowledgeable. Gets cold so bring layers. My gf said it was the perfect length and loved it. She said any longer might be too much for her. I imagine kids might think the same lol.

      Amazing education & beauty
Fantastic. This boat ride was perfect. We did an evening one which prevented you from seeing some details but surely the sight of the buildings lit up more than makes up for those details. Zach was an expert and gave us so much interesting information. A highlight of our trip for sure.

A very informative tour about Chicago history!!!
It was a very smooth booking from start to finish. There was already a big line even 1/2 hour before the departure. The tour guy was very knowledgeable and it was a very informative tour. I must add as I mostly lip read, I missed out lots of info he was sharing. I wish there had been some visual help for "us people ! " other than that, we enjoyed it and it was short and sweet. Will recommend!!!!

Perfect combination of sites and fun.
It was an informative and fun tour. Definitely not boring or stuffy. Our host, Kenny, was the perfect combination of well-informed and fun. We really appreciated seeing the Chicago skyline, going through the locks, and then cruising the river.

Amazing view and unforgettable Chicago experience.
Wonderful tour. Zach was an incredible tour guide. I’m so much more knowledgeable about the history and architectural background of Chicago. I never knew that they changed the directional flow of the Chicago river. The weather was perfect. We were lucky to have such a nice day. Highly recommend.

      Well worth it!
I have done 2 river boat tours in the past in Chicago and this one by far was my favorite. The boat was nice and spacious, the staff was friendly, and the tour guide was outstanding. We enjoyed all of the information around the buildings as well as the history behind Chicago including some fun facts. Going out on Lake Michigan was cherry on top.

We haven’t been on a bout tour in Chicago in 5 years and probably over 20 years since we have been on a Wendella bout tour. We have never just taken a river cruise so that appealed to us. We were able to get reservations early that morning for a 12:15 afternoon tour and walk several blocks to board. Due to Covid restrictions masks had to worn and occupancy was limited. Sure it was a little hot wearing the masks but we both understand the necessity for precautions at this time. Our docent is a teacher and shared her knowledge of architecture and history on a relaxing, informative and pleasant 90 minute river tour of Chicago. This was a pleasant way to spend part of the day learning new things about this city and not having to do a lot of walking. Let’s face it, folks, there’s a lot of walking in Chicago if you truly want to see anything. This also provided for photo opportunities not available on land. These will be treasured for years.

I highly recommend this boat tour especially for first time visitors. Due to covid, the boat was in less than half capacity which was a plus for us. From the line to check in, to find a seat and to exit the boat, the process was so smooth and was socially distanced.
To top it all, the weather was perfect-sunny and not too breezy. The staff were all friendly and helpful too. You can buy a drink on the lower level too.

Our tour guy was hilarious and really kept our attention. We now appreciated all the building architecture and old bridges we saw during the tour due to the background and unique features.

The woman narrating the tour was very knowledgeable and had been doing this for the last 35 years. We did this tour on Labor Day, and the route we took went out onto the lake and only spent a small amount of time on the river because of the large number of small recreational boats on the river that day. It was still interesting and enjoyable, however

We did the sunset tour and I think this is the absolute best way to view the city of Chicago. Our tour guide John was thorough, knowledgeable and extremely humorous. My group and I enjoyed every minute of it.

My 2:00 Tour was actually 1:45 departure so get there early! If you want to go to the Tour from Navy Pier you will have to take a water taxi $. The tour guide was lovely and does a great job of packing the tour full of information. The buildings that are talked about are typically on the dock side of the boat. I recommend sitting somewhere its comfortable to look up and towards that side.

Comprehensive but quick introduction to Chicago's distinctive architecture with added commentary on history and culture. Highly recommend taking a river boat tour — it's much easier than driving/walking and offers great unobstructed views of nearly all of the city's wonderful buildings.

Also, it was not super-obvious from the description but this tour departed from beneath the Wrigley Building on Michigan Avenue at the end of the Magnificent Mile, which is centrally located and very convenient. Many other tours left from the Navy Pier, which is a destination in itself but not as close to other sights.

The actual tour on First Lady was terrific! The best . Our docent, Mark, was exceptional, clear and knowledgeable! I highly recommend the tour itself, but the booking agent, Ticketmaster, was horrible! Bad directions that caused much stress. Almost missed the boat due to horrible directions.
The Tickets could only be accessed through the app, and were not in the email confirmation. Then the app made me sign in and I had a struggle with the password.
When I finally got to the QR for scanning as a ticket it would flash off the screen real fast. They charge a premium for ‘service’ on Ticketmaster, but their lack of service almost cost us getting on the boat I am very disappointed in Ticketmaster and would encourage any event venue or ride to use another way to check it potential customers. But the ride the boat ride was the highlight of the trip to Chicago and I would recommend it to anyone

Fantastic River cruise would highly recommend, the architecture in Chicago is amazing so this is a great way to see everything with an extremely informative guide. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone. We were really lucky to experience before the city shut down, would certainly re-visit one day.

My boyfriend is a Chicago native and has done this Wendella tour 5 times before I visited and went with me. Him and many others I know had nothing but positive things to say about the tour and the charismatic, funny tour guides. Unfortunately my experience was sub par to put it nicely. The tour guide was rushed and monotone and didn’t care about making the tour fun at all. It felt like an advertisement for a lot of new buildings which indicates to me that they’re being paid to advertise for them. Not to mention that they failed to discuss the engineering marvel of the Chicago River and it’s historic importance. I learned more from my boyfriend during the tour than I did from the tour guide. It’s sad that I wasn’t able to have the same experience everyone else had on this tour previously and I hope they switch it back to how it used to be.

I am sorry to hear about your recent tour. We do expect all crew members to provide our guests with a great experience, and it sounds like we may have failed here. For that we do apologize. Not sure what happened, but can assure you it is the exception and not the rule. I'd love to welcome you back so we can provide you with the experience you had hoped for, and one that more reflects how we showcase this great city. If I can ask you to contact us directly, and we will arrange another visit. And, for the record, we do not accept any advertising in our narrations. That said, I apologize for your disappointing tour.

I found this tour disappointing. Not enough seats on top of boat for everyone with a ticket. Large groups reserving seats forced us to sit on the bottom deck on the side of the boat which caused us to miss out on 80% of the buildings the tour guide pointed out. The tour guide constantly pointed out buildings that were on the opposite side of the boat. The guide was very hard to hear from below as well. I would recommend arriving at least 45 minutes prior to your departure instead of the 15 noted by the tour company.
