We called at 9:30 this morning and they were able to accommodate us for a private trail ride at 12:30. We spoke to Kelly who was so kind and helpful! When we arrived, we were greeted by the great staff and given a quick lesson before we were fitted with helmets and headed out. Kelly was our guide and she was so patient and encouraging with my two kiddos (9 and 10) who are very beginner. Our ride was stunning - she went at our pace and gave us great history and background of the land and the area. She even snapped some fantastic pictures for us! Kelly’s horses are gorgeous, obviously very well cared for, and extremely well trained. I can’t recommend enough! 10/10

We have had a wonderful morning with Emily’s team and your wonderful horses. Both my daughter and I have found the guides friendly and helpful, with excellent support throughout the ride. We never felt unsafe and once the weather cleared up, we also got to enjoy the stunning view. We loved the horses, they are easy to handle, and well matched to our riding abilities.

Friendly and quick service. The kids loved the playground and it was easy to sit in the beer garden to watch them. Food was good and mulled wine delicious

We did a two hour trail ride with Blandine with our two kids under 12 - both kids have some horse-riding experience. Kelly was there to help us set up and both Kelly and Blandine were super friendly and helpful. They selected horses appropriate for each rider's ability and comfort level. The ride was beautiful - through some small creeks and the gorgeous hillside around Cardrona. We all had a great time but this was a major highlight for our children who had been begging for a trail ride given all the awesome outdoor activities we enjoyed throughout our stay in New Zealand. Even better than expected! Kel was a great guide, the ride was fun and fast paced and well matched to rider experience! The horses were excellent and well cared for. No snow on the ground but the scenery was lovely, visit to the gorgeous pub well worthwhile.

I've never ridden a horse before and I had no issue on the ride. Nor did the ~5 year old in our group 😄. That said, this is a great trip as long as you understand that this is a walk only ride. We knew this going in, so we had a great time. I rode Danny and he was my dude. Very chill and easy to ride. I hardly had to do anything. Emily was our guide and was very helpful to give me the basics of horseback riding in a very short amount of time so that we could get going on the trail. She also took some great pictures of us. If you're an experienced rider, the Discovery Trail probably isn't the one for you (there are others you can do). If you're a first timer or looking for a leisurely walk among the scenery, this is the one for you. Either way, Cardrona horses trekking is the place to go!

This was such an amazing experience! Anna was our wonderful tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the area, sharing lots of fun facts and made me feel safe on the horse as I was a beginner. Beautiful views the whole way and a stop at the iconic Cadrona Hotel.

We had the BEST time on our ride with Blandine :) she was so lovely and it was such a nice change to do a ride with such amazing views. We did a nice few trots and canters and the horses were great. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a horse trek that’s worth the money!

We did the Cardrona 2 hour gold discovery trail. We loved our sweet horses, Morgan, John and Pat. Kelly, our guide and owner of the company, was very knowledgeable and thorough. She was also very thoughtful with making sure our 8 year old felt comfortable and safe. She also took all of our pictures so we could just enjoy the ride through the breathtaking landscape. This was such a great experience and we will definitely book another tour with Kelly when we return. If you’re looking for the perfect horseback riding experience in NZ, this is it.

Having horses at home I’m always a little sceptical going on horse riding treks at home. I was not disappointed, we chose the twilight trek and it was amazing from start to finish. The views were incredible, the horses very fit and well looked after and the mix of walk, trot and canter was great. I’m an experienced rider but my husband is a Novice (been on a horse 4/5 times before), we both had well matched horses for our abilities which allowed him to canter along behind us too! Epic fun, thanks Kelly!!

What a Great Stopover.. we called in for a drink and stayed the night in the beautiful boutique accommodation and also had a fine dining meal in the restaurant The staff were all friendly and efficient !!! Sydney the waitress was excellent and a fresh of breath air!!! Nikki in reception was very helpful and knowledgeable, helpfull and friendly!!!

What a fantastic experience. Kel was so experienced and instructive with the kids and made us all feel really safe when we were new to riding. By the end of our stunning two hr trip we were all happily trotting along having had a fantastic experience. Would really recommend for anyone but for us with small children it was perfect.
