Great quad bike experience for the family
Our family (kids aged 12 and 15 years old) had a fabulous time on the quad bikes on the River Run. The kids were so excited to ride their own quads. The owner Kel was friendly and engaging (and very responsive to emails) and took the time for us all to feel comfortable with the quads (kids were new to quads) before taking us on a scenic trip, stopping briefly to provide some history about the surrounding area. Such a beautiful area and the photos are a great reminder of the fun morning.

      Fantastic Experience
Perfect afternoon trail ride with the family. Summer was our guide and she made us all feel welcome and gave us an insight to the history of the area. Very enjoyable and would definitely return.

      HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND !
POOR EXPERIENCE - DO NOT RECOMMEND .. Dads and 16 / 17 year olds did for the first time. All very physically fit. Poor safety instruction and hard to hear and short practice on flat lawn. Our daughter ended tumbling down a 25 ft embankment with the ATV rolling over her. Could have been catastrophic ! luckily only a few scrapes and whiplash. Another dad in the group of 9 broke his arm going off the ATV. We were shocked with the experience and that they did not want us to leave the office until we figured out how to pay for the ATV as they deemed it "totaled" ( although they drove it off) and also wanted coverage for day "out of service". We had to contact our insurance. Unbelievable ! BUYER BEWARE ! They said we signed the waiver .. .

      Great Tour, Must do 👍🏽
Fantastic experience on the quads with a great team of experienced instructors who made you feel at ease if it was your first time quad biking. Beautiful scenes, great experience, couldn’t recommend it enough. Even the scenic route to location was breathtaking. Definitely book if you’re looking for a fun activity to do whilst in Queenstown. Thank you Team Cardrona. We will be back !!

      Super fun horse riding experience
The High Country Pub Trail with Kel was absolutely amazing. I really had so much fun. We cantered a lot, which I appreciated a lot as an experienced rider, plus there is this beautiful scenery with lupin flowers, sheep, cows and deers which is just breathtaking. Kel is a great guide and I really liked her great energy. During the trek, she told me a lot about the history of the place, which I found very interesting. Dembe was such a lovely horse. I have to say that it was the best riding trek I've ever had so far. Thank you so much for this great experience, dear Kel!

      Quad biking at Cardrona
Spent an hour with my 2 sons on Quad bikes with Kelly as our guide. The tour is a great one for younger kids & adults alike, riding through Cardrona’s amazing scenery If we return to NZ it’s somewhere we would visit again.

      Loved it!
Me and my husband did a beginner friendly horse riding tour with Kat, and we enjoyed it so much! Horses are super sweet and calm, Kat explained everything very thoroughly, some of the details we didn’t know before even though it’s not our fist time horseback riding. She also told us a lot about the area and took nice photos! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience! Made our day!

The horses have such personalities! They are wonderful and very experienced horses!
The experience was amazing! The horses have such personalities and are so beautiful. The instructors were amazing and kept everything very simple! There was also a ranch cat and ranch rottweiler ❤️ they are so gorgeous! The view is also so incredible and you don't have to be experienced in riding to do this and feel comfortable. Highly recommend 🙌

Amazing quad bike adventure! A must do if you are near Queenstown or Wanaka.
The quad bike tour was fantastic. Great climbs (we climbed 1500m according to the guide), lots of small stream crossings, at times riding carefully through cows and sheep grazing. A few places to go a little faster too which was cool! What a great way to see the amazing views from one of a kind high vantage points! This is right up there with some of the best adventure experiences I’ve done. My 18 year old son and I both loved it. It was challenging, thrilling, and fun. Kelly was great to deal with when booking - great quick communication. She was accommodating and worked out starting earlier which worked great. Summer our guide was great too! She put everyone at ease and made sure we all had a great day - and we got great photos from the day. Highly recommend!

      Super fun pub ride!
I had the best ride with Cadrona. I did the pub ride, which was an awesome blend of scenic views, river crossings, wandering through herds of sheep and even a cold beer at the iconic Cadrona Inn. Our group ended up consisting of all experienced riders and so we got to do a ton of cantering along the way - it was not the average trail ride. Our guide, Laura, did a great job of sharing interesting detail with us along the way. Highly recommend!

Amazing Family Trail Ride with Expert Guide
We called at 9:30 this morning and they were able to accommodate us for a private trail ride at 12:30. We spoke to Kelly who was so kind and helpful! When we arrived, we were greeted by the great staff and given a quick lesson before we were fitted with helmets and headed out. Kelly was our guide and she was so patient and encouraging with my two kiddos (9 and 10) who are very beginner. Our ride was stunning - she went at our pace and gave us great history and background of the land and the area. She even snapped some fantastic pictures for us! Kelly’s horses are gorgeous, obviously very well cared for, and extremely well trained. I can’t recommend enough! 10/10

      Great for kids
Friendly and quick service. The kids loved the playground and it was easy to sit in the beer garden to watch them. Food was good and mulled wine delicious

Great experience through the high country
We had an excellent time on the quad bike tour today at Cardrona. Spent time in the beautiful back country of Cardrona. Kat and Kelly made the trip fun, interesting and safe . The trek can be a bit tricky in parts but you are never under any pressure to do more than you are comfortable and Kat is happy fir you to ride in the buggy for as much or as little as you want . The scenery is spectacular and the commentary interesting too.

      Quad biking was super fun!!
We did the quad bike tour with Kelly. I have never been on a quad bike before, so Kelly was extremely helpful and made sure I felt comfortable before we started ascending the mountain. The views were spectacular and we really enjoyed the tour. We also loved the warm welcome from the furry residents - Jimmy, Ettie and Barney.

An incredible experience far surpassing all expectations. Sam and Kelly showed such passion for these horses and this enamour was a large part of what made the day so enjoyable. As you climb high into the country, you are given opportunities to walk, trot and canter. As beginners, this seemed quite daunting at first however you are provided more than enough support to get you on your way, pushing past the initial hesitation. The horses are incredibly well behaved/trained. They know the terrain and route well, in many instances they will lead you, letting you know exactly when it’s time to trot and canter - they’d clearly done this many times over. This is comforting as a beginner.

This is a must-do. It’s about seeing the Cardrona landscape in a way that’s not accessible to the public and doing it in a unique way. Whether you’re a fan of horses or are just looking for something different to try, you cannot go wrong with this trek.

The pit-stop at the Cardrona Hotel is a nice touch as well as the local history imparted along the way. We’ve been on a number of activities in the Queenstown region and this is by far the best we’ve encountered.

We did a horse trekking trip with Kelly and it was so amazing! My husband and I are still in awe about this wonderful experience. We are quite difficult to put in a group, but Kelly managed it. I'm a really experienced rider and my husband has no experience at all.
We were only a group of four people, which was really nice and Kelly picked out the perfect horse for everyone.
We even trotted and cantered for a long amount of time (did I mention my husband never did any faster paces on a horse?). Instructions were really clear, Kelly is very fun, the horses are nice and really healthy and the scenery is stunning.
This trip was worth every penny and it really is the perfect horse trek for everyone, from beginners to experienced.
Thank you so much Kelly for making our trip so special!

We live in Wanaka but was told about this riding experience by a friend of ours who said it was AMAZING ! We decided to try it out for ourselves and it was INCREDIBLE. The horses were fabulous , clearly loved and well cared for. Laura, our guide was adorable and made us all feel at ease and shared great info about the area , she clearly loves her job and talked about all the horses with immense passion. The scenery was breathtaking and the ride was a great variation of trekking, cantering and trotting . This truly was the BEST horse riding experience we have ever been on …… worth every $$$$$$$$

    Review for Kat

Had a wonderful afternoon on a private riding tour with Kat. We brought a group of 7, most of us pretty inexperienced riders. Kat gave us a brief run-down on how to ride their horses, introduced us to our steeds, and we were shortly underway. We wound up through the hillside of an extensive ranch. The views across the valley were grabd, and Kat kept things exciting for us with intermittent opportunities to trot or canter. The tour was highlighted by a quick stop for a comp’d beverage at the village’s old bar/hotel, which has been beautifully maintained in its original style — a worthwhile destination. If you want to get a fix of riding, and get away from the main touristy hub of Queenstown, I can highly recommend, lots of fun!

My partner and I were the only 2 on the tour for the day, and the trek was amazing! Kelly was such a great guide and very informative about the history of Cardrona and the Cardrona Hotel. She was also very helpful with teaching us both how to ride horses. And to top it off, we were treated to a complementary drink at the Cardrona hotel! I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to see the Crown Range from a different angle and to anyone who has ever wanted to try horseback ridding!

Kelly the owner welcomed us warmly and gave us clear easy to understand guidance so that we would be able to really enjoy the ride.
Then along the way she gave us bits of history of the area, making sure we got the most out of our trip.
As a relative beginner I was excited to be given the chance to push myself a little and progress to a trot & canter. Thanks Kelly 😀.
It was an interesting varied trek with beautiful scenery from up the hills. Would recommend this ride, & we will certainly be back again!

I think it is basically impossible to take a bad photo in this beautiful country of ours!! We have actually managed to survive without killing each other in our very small new home over the last week. Amazingly we have really enjoyed it! Done some wonderful stuff and the Kiwi hospitality we have experienced everywhere we have been has been top notch. Highlight of the trip would have to be the horse trek with @thecardrona, I was a bit worried it would be a boring “you must stay on the lead trek” but no, it was the highlight of the trip! We got to really ride the horses, plenty of fantastic views down Cardrona Valley, heaps of trotting and cantering for the more experienced riders yet still catered to the less experienced! Perfect. #dontleavetowntillyouseethecountry #NZ

Amazing experience, would highly recommend! My partner is a complete beginner, I have been riding for over 20 years, both of us thoroughly enjoyed our trek. The horses were impeccably behaved, we had some brilliant canters, water crossings and beautiful views. The stop at the cardrona hotel for a drink was great too. Our guide Sam was very knowledgeable and friendly, we felt in very safe hands. 100% recommend and hope to go back again!

We spent about three and a half hours with Sam who took us from novices to bring able to canter through the high country on their awesome horses. There is no better way to see such stunning scenery, all capped off by dropping past the iconic Cardrona Hotel. Simply the best afternoon out.

Kelly is not only an awesome tour guide but also a great horse person. The experience was incredible, riding into the mountains and to the local pub. The views were stunning and the horses super easy but forward moving. The horses are also very well looked after.
Highly recommend this place - would love to come back and do the other horse rides and would also be keen on the quad bike tours!
    Thanks Kelly!
