Overview
Uncover the legends of old California on a guided 2-hour walking tour of Monterey. Choose from a stroll down Cannery Row and past other waterfront sights captured in the books of John Steinbeck, or hear tales from the lives of Spanish explorers and other early settlers on a tour of Monterey’s historic adobes and landmarks.
What to Expect
Take your pick from two different tour itineraries designed to reveal different aspects of Northern California history, each including a leisurely 2-hour stroll with a knowledgable guide.

Historic Monterey Walking Tour

Meet your guide at the historic Rodriguez-Olio Adobe midmorning and set off along a Path of History that follows the footsteps of Spanish explorers, missionaries, and other early settlers of the area. Learn how this part of the state was considered the ‘Cradle of California’ as you explore remnants of its earliest days including old adobes and other surviving structures in the Monterey State Historic Park.

Cannery Row Walking Tour

Make your way to a trolley stop along Cannery Row in the afternoon, and begin with a stroll down this historic street made famous by novelist John Steinbeck. Hear what life was like in Monterey for fishermen and farmers during the 1930s, when the town was considered the ‘Sardine Capital of the World,’ and take in the sights of the historic waterfront including frolicking sea otters and Ocean View Boulevard.
