A three hour climb uphill to one of the most important historical and cultural icon of Bhutan is a perfect way to sync in with nature and soak in the fresh air amid pristine green vegetation. Taktsang Monastery stands precariously on a vertical cliff and is one of the cultural hotspot not only for the visiting tourists but also for the Bhutanese.

Unique 3D/2N Bhutan Alpine Flower Trek
Thank you @Pema Tenzing, Padang and the entire crew at Bhutan Swallowtsil for a unique and unforgettable Bhutanese experience especially trekking 3D/2N Alpine Flower Trek. Shout out to Pema for guiding and shadowing me throughout the tour and trek sharing your knowledge of Bhutan, flora, fauna and culture with passion, kindness and thoughtfulness. On the trek, I totally appreciate you stopping all so frequently asking me if I’m “all good”. I’ll be back next year and I will definitely request for you to be my guide once again, and Pasang to be our driver. Love the friendly banter between the two of you which makes me laugh.

Highly recommended for a tailored experience in Bhutan
We trusted swallowtail with a 15 day, last minute trip to Bhutan… Tashi was amazing to work with from initial submission and helped us craft a custom itinerary that incorporated trekking, cultural sightseeing, relaxation at luxury hotels, and more. Tshering was our guide and I couldn’t recommend him more 💯💯- he knows every part of Bhutan inside and out, including the best restaurants, hiking trails, and must see temples and monasteries (there are a lot, so you’ll want to become selective after a few days). He got to know all our preferences quickly and made our trip so much fun, easy and seamless. During the trip we had to change our itinerary twice (once to accommodate weather, once just for personal preference) and he handled all of this in the background. Highly recommend using swallowtail vs foreign based travel agencies to book your trip to Bhutan 🇧🇹

          Great Trek
Great morning trek to the Tigers Nest Monastery. My guide Pema was very informative. The trek was not too difficult and the reward of the spectacular tigers nest monestary perched on the cliff edge at the top was definitely worth it.

          Bhutan Trip - excellent adventure
Pema Tenzin guided us (spouse and adult daughter) for 6 days throughout W Bhutan with a tilt towards hiking and culture. Pema was excellent as was Ugyen (our driver). Highly recommend visiting Bhutan with this duo and Bhutan Swallowtail Tours. Singye was very helpful with organizing our logistics also.

          What an adventure!
What an adventure! We booked a 9 day tour with Swallowtails Travels. They planned a perfect tour for us with interesting activities every day. Everything from eating lunch at a farm stay, seeing different animals to lovely hikes and of course visiting the Tigers’s Nest. Our guide Tshering and our driver was so caring, tentative, friendly and we felt so taken care of. Tshering told us funny and interesting stories and guided us into the culture and history of Bhutan 🇧🇹. I highly recommend Bhutan Swallowtail Travels.

          Amazing Trip with Amazing Guide
Don't look any further! Lobsang was an amazing guide! I cannot express how kind he was to my kids and me. He was engaging, funny, and very knowledgeable of the places we visited. We learned a lot about Bhutan and its wonderful culture. My kids are still asking how he’s doing and would love to see him again!! He is also a very friendly person, and his English is impeccable. He added exciting things to our itinerary and was very flexible anytime we wanted to change course. He has given us lifelong memories. Thank you! Highest recommendation!!!

          Great photography tour
The tour was great and the locations were quite beautiful. The guide Karma was fantastic, as was the driver Dawa. Would highly recommend. Worth noting that the actual price is $200, not $100. You'll be asked to pay the remaining $100 via a follow up link.

Our experience with Swallowtail was exceptional from start to finish. We were a bit apprehensive at first having to go through a tour company and weren’t sure what to expect. Singye, who manages the tour bookings, communication, and coordination, was the main reason we chose Swallowtail. Her responsiveness, professionalism, and patience with our long list of questions was absolutely amazing and she helped us create a very customized itinerary for our specific interests. Also, as new questions came up, she continued to respond quickly and put any concerns we had to rest. We were in excellent hands every step of the way and I believe she is a big reason why Swallowtail is so successful. Next was our experience with our guide Jigme “Noko” and driver Rohan. From the moment they picked us up at the airport we were given the VIP treatment. We are independent travelers, so we weren’t sure how having and guide and driver with us for the duration of the trip was going to go and I have to say it ended up being a real highlight. Rohan was a fantastic (and very safe) driver who helped us exchange money on multiple occasions and made himself available whenever we requested (very early and late). Our guide Noko is a true professional who was not only very calm, courteous and knowledgeable but also incredibly patient and flexible with us changing our itinerary and plans on a daily basis. We also appreciated that he was very attuned to what we wanted and needed without us having to tell him. He knew when we felt like talking and we would chat it up and he knew when we felt like just enjoying the scenery or activities and would give us the space we needed. There were many highlights from the trip, but one that stood out was getting to experience the nightlife in Thimphu. Noko and Rohan made the evening remarkable, and I felt like we were becoming fast friends at the end. Many people who are fortunate enough to visit get to see the natural beauty of the country and all that it has to offer. Thanks to our guide and driver, we also learned that Bhutan is an interesting mix between deep cultural and religious traditions and also very modern perspectives that might take us many more trips to better understand. When we make it back to Bhutan, we will be choosing Swallowtail and most definitely Noko and Rohan again who made the experience one we will never forget!

          12 Days Cultural tour
We are an Italian family with a 9-year-old child. We chose this agency to organize our trip to Bhutan. Strengths of this agency: -Excellent communication management in travel arrangements. Any request for clarification or modification Ms Singye always responded quickly and clearly. -Easy and traceable international transfer payment system for payment of Agency costs -Guide (Mr Pema Tanzin) and Driver (Mr Pema Loday) were extremely professional, polite, courteous, and always adjusted to the moment to all our requests and needs. I point out that we were with a 9-year-old child and grasping his needs was not easy. I particularly care about their review because I hope to highlight their ability to handle everything in real time and according to customers. I hope someone else can point out their names in organizing their own tour. Rest assured they are a guarantee. -Particularly well-run hotel Wangdue Ecolodge un Punakha. Excellently run, clean and with a forward-thinking manager, different and unique from all the other hotels we have stayed at Only sore point of the whole trip, everything cannot be perfect: Hotel Ugyen Ling ( in Bumthang) Very bad experience, poorly managed, old and lacking any routine maintenance. Dirty towels. Make sure it is not included in the tour proposal offered. Reported to the agency to avoid this choice again to someone else in the future.

          One of a kind experience!
We had a phenomenal experience with Bhutan swallowtail tours with our guide Lobsang and driver Basang. Swallowtail organized a custom tour for us over 9 days to maximize the time we had doing things we found most interesting. Lobsang was excellent in teaching us so much throughout every attraction & activity, finding extra hikes for us to do, and helping cultivate a truly authentic experience. Would highly recommend him as a guide. We also had an excellent experience in our Punakha homestay and attending a rural village Tsechu for a full day! Truly wonderful experience.

We loved very much the experience and everything about the Itinerary was perfect, but the best thing that happend to us was to have Pema Tenzin as guide. He and the driver Passan transformed our journey in something unforgettable. Pema was the whole time helpful, worried about our conditions and demonstrated in every moment that the important thing was us and not the program. We have been travelling a lot all around the world and we can say that Pema was the best guide ever. Thank you very much, Pema and Passan!

We were a group of 60 people went on a 5 day trip to Bhutan. We stayed in Thimpu, Punakha and Paro. We went on a day trip to Tiger's Nest Hiking. We were a team of 40 started for the Hike. Only 20 made it to the Top to the monastery. Balance people including me climbed only half the distance upto the cafeteria point.
The whole hiking path is a dusty way. So carry face mask. All your dress and hair will be full of dirt after the hike.

We did a three day tour with Bhutan Swallowtail Tours and it was a fantastic experience. Our guide, Pema, and driver were both amazing - very knowledgeable, very attentive and flexible to our last minute changes, and they both had a really good sense of humour. The trip was really fun and we would highly recommend it

In Paro, after breakfast some of us drove till the base of the world famous Taktsang Lhakhang. Taktsang Lhakhang or the Tiger's Nest is the most famous Buddhist pilgrimage site and temple complex in Bhutan. Visible from afar, this stunning and highly revered monastery is perched on a high granite cliff at an altitude of 10,236 ft., overlooking the northern Paro valley.

Tiger’s Nest gets its name from a legend according to which in 8th century Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava and one of the holiest figure in Mahayana Buddhism, flew to this exact spot from Tibet on a back of a tigress (who was a manifestation of his divine consort). He came to subdue a demon and then took residence in a cave where he meditated for 3 years, 3 months and 3 days. He then started the conversion of Bhutanese into Buddhism. The monastery was built in 1692 around the cave where Guru meditated. Today, it is a cultural icon of Bhutan. A trip to Bhutan is not complete without a visit to this sacred site.
The monastery looks a tiny white building from the valley but as one proceeds one begins to marvel at this wonder, which is precariously perched on a cliff!
We started the hike on the valley floor 7,000 ft/2,100 meter above sea level. One must do the hike at the end of your trip to give you more time to acclimatize to the altitude.

The journey was an arduous task as were crossed a pine forest and passed by several structures containing water-powered prayer wheels surrounded by prayer flags. Such prayer wheels instilled faith in mankind that no matter what each tough task can be accomplished if one is determined. The cafeteria was the half way point to the monastery. It was recommended to walk than go on a horse back because a horse walks on the edge, which is highly dangerous and not advisable. The climb seemed eternal as we kept walking huffing and puffing. Upon reaching the ridge, the spectacular view held me spellbound. I was stunned by the sheer beauty of the monastery lined with prayer flags and series of prayer wheels.
With each climb the view appears to be closer and more enchanting but the sublime bliss of reaching the actual monastery was so elusive!
After a short break the hike appeared to be challenging because we could see that it was so steep but the tough and strenuous trail was forgotten as soon as we got a view of the Paro Valley along the way. It was out of the world. Suddenly the trail was no long steep, the road became flat and the joy of walking could be seen on everyone’s face. Not the happiness was short-lived. Another set of 700 steps head to be covered to reach the revered place.
As if this was not enough! The trail did not end, it was not the destination, rather just another viewpoint! It was way beyond and the monks took another steep 700 steps to reach the monastery. We were not far yet not there! The prayer flags flapping and fluttering in the wind was a pleasant sight. The sight is enough to calm the tired nerves.
It was exhilarating to finally reach Tiger’s Nest Monastery and we went inside minus cameras, phones etc. to maintain the sanctity of the place. The beautiful interiors with exquisite wall murals were amazing and I was in a trance like state to view the spectacle. I felt blessed to have finally made it despite the arduous task of climbing the steep steps. The mystical moment was magical and spiritual.
It is advised to wear sturdy hiking shoes and thick socks because the floor is quite cold. A hiking pole is a big support during the steep climb. One must avoid walking fast or stooping too much as it will affect your stamina. We took 4 hours to climb and 3 hours to return back to the base.
