        Superb experience
Excellent service from start to end. Really nothing we can complain about; communication was straight forward, the guide was very friendly, the drive & the car war safe and we had a great group. The scenery was undoubtedly the most beautiful I've seen in my life, 5*!

Armando from Sol de Mañana, great driver for your trip to the Salar of Uyuni
We did our day excursion to the Salar of Uyuni with the agency Incahuasi. This was a great experience from the first moment until the end. They provided us with a driver called Armando who also works for Sol de Mañana. He did such an amazing job that we would like to write a review also directly for him. He was fully involved and made all efforts to make us happy. He took amazing and funny pictures of us in the Salar. We will thus have super memories and souvenirs of our day in the Salar of Uyuni. Since we heard many bad reviews of drivers who just leave you at some place to get by on your own, it is important to know that there are drivers who take their job really seriously. Thank you very much again Armando for this unforgettable trip and for the great job you did.

        What an Amazing Place
First I would like to say that the Uyuni Salt Flats are incredible. A must-see if you are in Bolivia or a neighboring country. Our drivers with Red Planet were good and spoke English. They spent time with us taking pictures and videos and found us some good spots. The lunch was average. The one thing I would change is how much time we spent for lunch/shopping. Other than that it was a great experience.

Unbelievably unpolite seller, avoid this scam
The guy in answering the whatsapp phone after the simple question "is the trip worth if it's raining all day?" start answering extremely aggressive, saying is not their business to know (I asked only an opinion) and calling me "simio africano" meaning african monkey and other insults, of course loosing me as a client. Red planet may be good, but untill this kind uneducated people are allowed to work in their office this means zero stars, for a very unprofessional service. I strongly recommend Cordillera Expedition, the second agency i contacted, super nice answering the same question and paying a taxi for me to go to their office to talk and set the payment. No comparison between the 2 agencies. Avoid red planet

        Full day Salt Flats Tour
Fantastic day visiting the Salt Flats of Uyuni with Lewis and his team from Red Planet Expeditions. The transport was safe, guide Lewis was very knowledgeable (& a fantastic photographer) and we saw all the key sites. Really enjoyed and would recommend highly!

        Do not book with them
Don’t book with these guys. Never felt so unsafe in my life. Drinking on the job. Nearly crashing. The driver didn’t speak English and stunk of booze. It’s so so expensive for what it is. Pretty boring tour. They dump you at a island of cactuses for longer time you take pictures and the food is disgusting. Luke warm and rubbery which sits in the back of the Jeep for hours. Avoid at all costs. Not worth the money, go with a cheaper company. These guys are too big for their boots.

Great tour of the Bolivian Salt Flats
Red Planet is the company to go with for touring the Salt Flats. We had a great experience taking their 3 day tour. Professional drivers, reliable vehicles and for us a guide (Juan) that exuded great passion and knowledge about this incredible part of the planet. We saw so many things - the immense salt flats, llamas, pink flamingos, geysers and the beauty of the big red desert that adjoins the salt flat. One of our favorite activities was soaking in the natural hot springs on night two of the tour and gazing at the billion stars above lighting up the southern sky. Another highlight was taking the funny photos in the salt flats. It’s one of those keepsakes everyone wants to have. And Juan made it possible for all on tour guiding us both collectively and individually in getting a variety of memorable images. My wife and I are older adventure travelers - in our early 60’s. We found the food and accommodations to be more than adequate. But be prepared for night two - deep in the Bolivian desert our place for night while clean, was basic. There are a lot of companies offering tours of the Bolivian Salt Flats - you can’t go wrong in picking Red Planet.

        3 day trip
We chose to go with red planet because the reviews were good. So we didn’t mind paying a bit extra. The guide was okay. Very brief with some of the info and he wasn’t very helpful or useful when it came to organising or being in control. It was like he couldn’t be bothered. Was very disappointed when we asked for assistance regarding the photos. He may be there once or twice a week but this was once in a lifetime for us! The driver was even worse as he kept disappearing at every stop to sun bathe or play on his phone. Then when we got to the car to leave (at the time set by the guide), he wasn’t there to be seen. At one stop he drove off and didn’t come back until at least 15 minutes after the arranged time. The other car ended up leaving us while we just sat and waited. I wouldn’t have minded if we were told to be back later and were able to use those 15 minutes to take more photos, etc. The food was decent, it was much better than I expected actually. You definitely need to take some extra snacks with you though. Take water too! We read that we needed to take toilet paper on a previous review, something we weren’t told by the guide or person we booked it with. And we are glad that we read it because you definitely need to buy some! You’d have thought they might have told us that. Lip balm is also essential. We had a great time doing the 3 day trip but to be honest you probably only need to do the 2 day or 1 day adventure.

For the extra price they charge, they deliver a pretty disappointing job
Compared to the competition Red Planet Expeditions charges a fairly amount extra and therefor we expected a better service, but we were a bit disappointed. We did a 3D/2N tour to the Salt flats and areas around and experienced a nice trip. We had good accompany and the places you visit during the tour are magnificent. We travelled with two jeeps both with their own driver and we had one guide. The drivers provided us with some nice meals, the guide did his share of briefly explaining the places we visited and the two nights we spent in fine standard guesthouses. In my opinion nothing special, just standard service for the Uyuni tours. For the extra amount they charge we didn’t experience any superiority compared to the other companies. We for example have seen other companies providing water at every stop, something we didn’t get. Moreover the cars are very old and nothing seems to work: the electric windows failed, all signs on the dashboard were lit red and the airconditioning didn’t work at all. This is unacceptable when driving through the hot desert. At the final day one car even broke down completely - luckily - only one mile outside Uyuni. What if we would have been in the middle of the desert?! Also our drivers were very solitairy and it seemed the guide was rushing everything so he could chill out more. Especially the ‘stargazing’ was a joke: he pointed a laser in the sky, named a couple of stars and whished us a goodnight. I actually don’t even understand why there were 3 people of staff: just learn your guide to drive or your driver to guide so you only need 2 people of staff and have an extra seat available for a paying custumor.. Again we had a fine trip because the place is beautifull and nature simply delivers, but Red Planet Expeditions did not meet our expectationd for the prices they handle.

Best day on the salt flats!
We loved our day trip with Ivan our amazing guide. He is super friendly and knowledgeable and made the whole experience so memorable. Our jeep was comfortable and our driver very experienced, we felt safe when he was driving. For us the one-day tour was perfect, we had plenty of time on the salt flat, it didn’t feel rushed at all. We even had a little surprise in the end which was a lovely touch.

Felt taken care of from beginning to end
I had research a lot of companies offering the 3 day/2 night Uyuni Salt Flats tours. Safety was a big concern after reading about many drunk drivers in Bolivia. Our driver was professional and we had a mechanical issue he fixed in no time. Juan was our guide for 2 cars. He did a great job of taking us to the sites when we were the only people there. He is very passionate about his country and South America. The accommodations were exactly as described, no surprises.

Great itinerary - guide could be more professional
Really enjoyed our experience with Red Planet - the cars seemed to be in good condition and the journey was comfortable which was important as there is a lot of driving. First nights accommodation was really good, and despite being told the second night was really basic we were impressed as it was warmer than we expected especially with the hot water bottle which was a nice touch. The hot springs on the second night were also amazing, and no other tour group shared with us so we had the pool and the stars all to our self. Our only slight complaint is that the guide we had was constantly making sexual references and despite having a lot of knowledge, tended to rush through it and instead make strange jokes. The views were amazing though, as were the photos we got!

We’d highlight recommend this company and the one day tour.
We’d recommend this tour agency & the one day tour. We loved the days activities; stopping off to see the old trains, doing a bit of shopping, visiting the cactus island, pictures at the salt flats where the guides were great at choreographing the perfect shot, and watching sunset with wine & crisps. The lunch was fantastic and the vegetarian option was delicious. The guides were all very informative and great fun! Our driver was very professional, a good driver and played great music. Although, I’d make sure that if you’re booking an English tour that you specifically request an English speaking driver. Whilst, when we stopped off at each location, we got an explanation of the site in English from the other cars driver, in between each location we were placed in the Spanish speaking car and missed a lot of the information being shared on the way. We were lucky enough to be in the car with people who could translate some of the information for us which was really kind of them. The agency is a little more pricey than some other agencies but it came highly recommended by some other travellers and from the reviews it appeared to be the safer option, and from our own experience, we really enjoyed the one day tour. We decided against the 3-day tour just because we didn’t like the idea of being stuck in a car for so long however, if you don’t mind that, the 3-day came with great reviews from other travellers. For the both of us as a couple, we got a direct transfer from San Pedro to Uyuni with Pamela Tours for around CLP 50,000 (£58), spent one night in Uyuni for BOB 155 (£18) and booked a one day tour with Red Planet for around BOB700 (£81). The feedback we got from others is that you can purchase the 3-day tour from Uyuni for about USD 160-170 (£130) but I think it’s more expensive if you purchase the 3-day tour coming from San Pedro. If you’re coming from San Pedro another option is booking the 3-am bus from San Pedro - although we struggled to find exact information on this bus but worth some research for a cheaper option to travel to Uyuni - or you can go back to Calama and get a bus from Calama to Uyuni which might be cheaper than booking the direct transfer with Pamela Tours.

        Amazing adventure
After a long trip bu bus overnight we arrived to Uyuni. The group we had consisted of only 3 people and it was perfect size. We start the trip with visiting an old railway station then village of salt workers and the salt lake with its little island. All this is with a very entertaining tour guide. Lunch is provided and wine at the sunset

We were let down at the last minute by another tour company, rang Red Planet and told them what had happened. They took a taxi to where we were stranded, picked us up and drove us to their offices. They paid for the taxi.
There were nine others already booked on our trip - we were fortunate to get the last two places on the tour leaving that morning.
Our tour guide was Juan, and he could not have been more helpful taking photos for everyone, setting up props etc He found us a perfect place to watch the sun set giving us the most perfect photos.
The accommodation that night was first class. The lodge was purpose built by Red Planet, the first of several they are building.
The accommodation on the second night was not owned by them and was not good - the only down side to the trip.
The food was fabulous and they catered for all dietary needs.
One person on our trip got sick. Juan arranged for someone to drive out and pick them up. They were taken to hospital and put up in a hotel over night - all paid for by Red Planet. They couldn't have been more caring.
There is a lot of driving on the tour, but the drivers were great.
We got to see all of the famous sites in the area, plus a few extra.

We just finished the 3d/2n salt flat tours ending in San Pedro de Atacama. We had an absolutely incredible time with our guide Juan and driver "ears"! The tour itself is really spectacular. It blew us away and has been the highlight of our South American adventure. Its so much more than just the salt flats. Every 20 mins is breathe-taking. Our guide Juan was funny, sarcastic, very knowledgeable and gave the real history of Bolivia & Peru. Juan also had the best and most fluent English of any tour guide we have met, which meant we got way more out of the trip. We had great chats with him over the 3 days. Our driver was also incredible and they both made sure everyone had a good time. The accommodation on day 1 was a lot more comfortable and cute than expected. The day 2 accommodation is basic and cold (so come prepared its the same on all tours) but completely made up for by the incredible hot springs experience under the stars and again for sunrise. The food was genuinely really good and very generous on this tour and that's coming from a fussy eater. We were really suprised by how much help we got crossing the border to Chile. Juan and our driver made it incredibly easy, telling us what form to fill in, where to go etc. We were very pleasantly suprised to find hot tea and food waiting for us when we swapped to our bus to chile. They gave us plenty of help with Spanish on the chile side too and we even got a hostal drop off on the other side which was a great suprise. The only tiny draw-back is the car is a bit cramped but I think that's the same on every tour. 10/10 would recommend this tour to anyone! There's way more included with this trip than they advertise and what I really liked was that there were very few additional costs on the tour (other than those advertised for national park entrances) and we didn't need to keep buying stuff along the way. So, it might be a little more pricey than others but there's no real hidden costs so it probably works out cheaper. Other tours we've been on have loooots of hidden costs. Great tour, great guide, really amazing memories!

Great tour with Red Planet! We rode in a colonne of 3 vehicles and all drivers were very expertly (knew how to deal with the surroundings). Our guide Oscar had a lot of information to provide and was happy to share it! Prepared food was good and accommodations perfectly fine. The 2nd night is quit basic (no running water) but there are hot springs so you can still take a 'shower'. Very satisfied with the experience and definitely recommend this organisation.

Hello, we recently did the 3 day tour with this operator, which we chose because of their recommendation in different guides, the most expensive by far by the way.the day before we paid half as a deposit, when we arrived in the morning the day of departure, we paid the rest, and after this we were informed that the agreed itinerary would not be possible because "it had rained a lot and it was very dangerous for us, etc, etc". Immediately we looked at each other among some of the customers who were there, and we started a debate with the employees, who gave different reasons and arguments: "it is too late to reverse the direction of the itinerary" "very dangerous", and so on ... In the middle of everything appears the one we think is the boss, and in a moment he takes control of the situation, agreeing to take us to the middle of the salt flat (something very spectacular) and that before had been flatly excluded. They also say that they do not work with other companies, another proven lie, as we found them on the whole tour with other tours, they also assure that their drivers do not drink alcohol, I can assure you that ours did not drink at least not in our sight, but we almost had an accident on 2 occasions, perhaps because we were tired from "coking" until very late at night. As for the guide, I must recognize his work, but I think that somehow he also feared for the state of the driver and his driving.as for the salt I can only say that it really is something incredible, especially after raining, as the reflective effect of the accumulated water is that of a large mirror, the danger was another big lie, at no time the height of the water exceeded 20 cm.

We did the 3 day, 2 night tour with Red Planet Expedition from Sunday 20th March to Tuesday 22nd March and we had an incredible time!! Our guide Juan and driver Yas were so lovely, informative and professional and we felt very safe on the tour. They went above and beyond other tour companies, we were the last group remaining on the salt flats to watch the sunset and the first on the salt flats the next day to watch the sunrise. Red Planet were very accommodating, there was a vegan in our group and all the meals were very good. It was worth the money and we would definitely recommend!

I just did this tour last week as a solo traveller and I highly recommend it! Red Planet Expeditions took us on a well organized tour through beautiful landscapes and with professional and friendly people. Our guide Ivan was very knowledgeable and nice, and our driver not only drove well (we didn't even need to change a tire!) but he was also good company, providing everyone with constant sweets and coco leaves to help with the high altitude. They were both really helpful with taking pictures and giving us ideas for fun poses and videos. Take a good camera!

The accommodations are basic but I think I got lucky because I had my own room both nights because there were only 3 people on the tour - not sure how it would have been if there were more people. Anyway, I would just recommend taking a warm shower before beginning the tour - Red Planet actually has one at their office and I was able to shower after arriving from the overnight bus from La Paz, which they also picked me up from the bus.

I arranged the tour via WhatsApp and they were always quick to respond.

Best experience of my trip in South America. I went in 2018 with friends and I'm writing about it two years later! Driver was Jose Luis and guide was Israel (or something that sounds like that). Food was amazing and the guide was great fun and had great interest and knowledge in geology which he shared with us. He also told us a great deal about Bolivian politics, history and culture as we travelled. Met other people who had issues with guides being drunk so it's better to spend a little more for a lot better experience.

A Highlight of our South American Adventure was amplified by the great drivers and guides. Thank You so very much for all the care and attention. All tour companies follow the same rout, what makes the differnece is the depth of knowledge and experence of the guides and drivers. I is clear they have been well trained and this is a passion for them. Do yourself a favour pay a little more and go with these guys. The food, accommadation, cars and guides were all fantastic!

I booked with Perla de Bolivia, but when I arrived I found the tour was actually operated by Red Planet. And it was a fantastic tour. There were 6 people on the tour plus our driver/guide, Ivan. Ivan was an awesome guide, and answered any questions I had during the drive and was knowledge about the local history, traditions, flora and fauna. Ivan took some very creative pictures of our group on the salt flats that I wouldn't have thought to ask for. The two nights in June were cold and were spent at very basic hotels, so just be prepared with enough layers. The first night there is a hot shower available and the second night you have the option to go to the hot springs, which I highly recommend! When I went, there was a new moon which meant the stars and the milky way were shining bright, it was magical! Think of this tour as a road trip through Bolivia as you will spend a lot of time in the car, but the desert scenery was beautiful as you cross different volcanos, lagoons, and interesting landscapes. I definitely recommend Red Planet and Ivan!

We decided on this tour because, despite being the most expensive, it seemed to us that it fulfilled what we were looking for, it was not entirely true. Where it says tour of three days and two nights, it means, you don't get to stay for two days, let me explain. The tour begins at 11:00 a.m., let's say on a Monday, and they drop you off at the Chilean border, at best, at 09:30 a.m. on a Wednesday, that in my country does not reach two days.
When you make the reservation they tell you that when you arrive at their offices in Uyuni before starting the tour, after a long trip as was our case, we would have the possibility of taking a shower and having tea, once there nobody gives you any option .
Finally, say that we paid for one of the most expensive tours in the area, but it seems that it is not enough since we also had to pay in other places that we visited during the two days, including toilet paper in the lodges where you are located.
The guide that we had was quite professional, explaining things with patience and knowledge.
