What to Expect
Begin your full-day tour with pickup at select Phoenix-Scottsdale hotels (or head to the central meeting place). Relax in your air-conditioned tour vehicle and enjoy the scenery. Ride through the Sonoran Desert, and catch sight of the native saguaro cacti. As you increase elevation during the drive, trade in views of cacti for views of pine trees. Your first stop is at Williams along Route 66. Get the chance to experience this famous American highway before moving on to the Grand Canyon. Once you reach the Grand Canyon, explore one of its widest and deepest sections. Highlights include the Hopi House and El Tovar Hotel in Grand Canyon Village, scenic lookouts on East Rim Drive, and other nature walks and cultural exhibits. Afterward, head back to Phoenix or Scottsdale for drop-off at your departure point.

This trip was great. The bus was comfortable, the tour guide Steve was friendly and informative. There were plenty of bathroom breaks for those who needed them. The small town of Williams that we stopped in before getting to the Grand Canyon was on Route 66- iconic

Thanks for sharing your experience with DETOURS! Our day tours are indeed long, but that allows us to show you these great National Landmarks in a single day - we calculate our routes and time manage our day precisely to ensure that you get the best out of said day. We also ensure that the safety, comfort, and information received for our guests are always top notch. It is good, but not surprising, to hear that is precisely what you experienced! First trip to Arizona and the Grand Canyon with my sisters- The weather was amazing (can be very cold in the higher elevation- still snow in March). The van was comfortable and the scenery was breathtaking! We were very fortunate to see lots of elk! We opted for the box lunch

Thank you for taking the time to detail your day with DETOURS! The weather around this time of year is absolute perfect for adventuring and sightseeing at Arizona's National Landmarks and Parks. While it can be quite cold, being prepared with enough warm clothes (that our reservation staff suggests prior to your tour) you can enjoy the day comfortably! Guest satisfaction and safety is our top priority - so we're glad to hear that even with the weather being cold, you still had a comfortable and breathtaking experience! We always recommend the boxed lunch. It can be extremely difficult to purchase lunch on the way, considering time restraints from ordering (long lines and preparation time) and the time we can allow to stay on schedule usually conflict more than we would like. That is actually why we instated the boxed lunch so that when we arrive into Williams your lunch will be ready and waiting for you! Makes for an far more relaxing day for everybody! Our tour guides all share an extreme passion for the Southwest and Arizona - so as you can imagine, the Grand Canyon is one of our favorite places to go to! Lucky for us, we get to go there just about every single day. With the intense knowledge, know-how, and a little bit of charisma and humor, our guides deliver an outstanding day filled with rich history, culture, and everything in-between while we are out there on the road and in the National Park! Sam does a particularly great job with people who have never visited the park before to make their first viewing that much more magical. In regards to your group, you never know who you're going to meet out on tour with us. We usually embark as friends & strangers and come back as family. Long days indeed, but as you say - well worth it! We couldn't agree more. Thank you so much again for sharing your experience with DETOURS, with Sam, and with your group out there at the Grand Canyon National Park! We do hope to see you again soon. We've got plenty more of the Southwest to share with you. :)

Wow, what a review! We have to begin by thanking you for taking the time to sit down and share about the fine detail of your tour with us! Secondly, we have to thank Derek for going over and above to ensure that your day was absolutely perfect! The Grand Canyon is an incredible sight by itself. Even without a guide, it is an absolutely gorgeous experience - but with a guide, as you have so elegantly explained above, elevates that experience to an INCREDIBLE level! We know that this review alone will help others get a great idea of what they're getting in for when joining DETOURS to the Grand Canyon. We do hope that you join us another day! We've got plenty more of the Sun-baked Southwest to share with you! Who knows, maybe you will even get Derek again! Not to worry, however - each and every guide we send out has their own unique personality that adds a different, yet similar quality level to your overall experience with DETOURS. Thanks again! We would rate this review 5 stars if we could!
