Overview
Discover the history and culture of Buenos Aires during this 4-hour private tour. With a local guide, travel through neighborhoods like Puerto Madero, Retiro and Palermo. Downtown, stop by important historical sites like Plaza de Mayo and Casa Rosada and enjoy informative commentary from your personal guide. In San Telmo, visit Dorrego Square and keep an eye out for spontaneous tango performances. Visit Evita's tomb in the famous Recoleta Cemetery and walk along the Caminito. Round-trip transportation from Buenos Aires hotels is included.
What to Expect
Your 4-hour tour starts at any time you select upon booking. You will be picked up from your chosen location and, along with your guide, start your journey. You will first visit the political center of the city, arriving at the historical May Square (Plaza de Mayo), the place where Buenos Aires was founded. Here, you will see the Pink House (Government House), which houses the mythical balcony from where Evita used to address the people. Continue your tour to see the Cabildo, the colonial city-hall, and the Metropolitan Cathedral. There, you will be able to see the spectacular mausoleum of General San Martín, Argentina's independence hero.

Your private tour continues through May Avenue which joins the Pink House and the Congress. Admire the Art Nouveau buildings, the old hotels, theaters and cafes. Stop by the famous and traditional Café Tortoni, founded in 1858 and frequented by intellectuals and artists.

Then, it's time to visit San Telmo, a neighborhood of bohemians, artists, antiques shops and cobbled streets. Pass by Dorrego Square, where thousands of tourists and porteños gather every Sunday for the antique fair that is held there.

Follow your guide to your next stop, the neighborhood of La Boca. Learn about its history and admire its colorful tenements, where a lot of artists open their studios and workshops. Then, walk along the mythical street of Caminito to breathe the characteristic atmosphere of the area, with its love for tango and soccer.

Continue your tour with a visit to Puerto Madero, a neighborhood which was completely redesigned in the nineties. Nowadays, its new residential area, close to the river, houses three design hotels, chic restaurants and exclusive apartment buildings.

Leave Puerto Madero and head towards the north, to go to el Retiro. There, visit San Martín Square, surrounded by elegant buildings with French architecture. Here, learn from your knowledgeable guide about the most aristocratic areas of Buenos Aires.

Continue on to the traditional neighborhood of Palermo and stroll along its large parks, rose gardens and lakes. This is a favorite place for the 'porteños' to practice sports or give long walks.

Top-off your tour with a visit to the Recoleta neighborhood. Here, you will visit the colonial style church of Our Lady of Pilar, the second oldest in the city, and enter the legendary cemetery to visit Evita's tomb.

This private tour will leave you with a new-found view of what makes Buenos Aires such a unique and cosmopolitan city.
