Traveling to Pretoria, the administrative capital, you’ll explore iconic sites such as the Union Buildings and the Voortrekker Monument. The architecture and gardens here are stunning, providing a picturesque backdrop for photos. Willy’s knowledgeable commentary enriches the experience, making history come alive. A walking tour led by Willy allows for an intimate exploration of Vilakazi Street, where both Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu once lived. This area is vibrant with local culture, street vendors, and historical significance Willy’s tours are not just informative; they are engaging and personal. His passion for South African history shines through, making this two-day adventure an unforgettable journey through time and culture. Whether you’re exploring the affluent streets of Sandton or the historic heart of Soweto, this tour encapsulates the essence of South Africa beautifully.Written 30 September 2024

- joanu8090 contributionsJohannesburgo City Tour + Lesedi Cultural VillageExcellent experience with Willy, we discovered the real story of Johannesburg and South Africa. We understand the reality of the South African society and the story before and after Mandela era. Also Willy has show us the true of Johannesburg, is a safe city, with some different neighborhood but safe and amazing place to discover.Written 31 August 2024
- ElnaL_120 contributionsSurprise PartyI loved the experience. My nephew got engaged there. We arrived early and bought our tickets online. I would suggest that you do that. The pensioners aged 65 up need to buy their tickets at the booth and also show their ID. We enjoyed a cup of cappuccino at the restaurant while we waited for them to open the cable car. The staff were friendly and had a positive outlook. We kill time taking photos on the cable cars at the restaurant. Weather wise, we could not ask for a better day. At the top, we ordered pizzas and cold drinks. It is a bit pricy bit the experience was nice. They are also busy building an activity. Thinks it would be fun to try it out when it is done.Written 19 February 2024

- Ibiteye0 contributionsThe Only Way to Tour South AfricaThe best part of my trip was the information and education about So. Africa we learned from our Mt. Zion Tours escorts... Willy Kalala and David Kalala. They were both very knowledgeable and made our visits to the various sights seamless. I would never consider recommending any other tour guides for the areas they serve. Our primary cities were Joburg, Pretoria and Capetown but we also hit so many other places...Soweto, Lesedi Cultural Village, Cape of Good Hope, Robbins Island, a safari park. Restaurants selected were ALL excellent...food and service. Incredible experience.Written 8 February 2023

- tstark91190 contributionsThe need for speed! This was such an awesome experience! From start to finish, we were totally enthralled and mentally wiped out by the end of the day. Our driver (Neo) showed up early and took us for about an hour’s drive. Neo filled us up with interesting information and great conversation. Upon our arrival we were handed over to our tour guide who continued to fill our heads with fascinating information and then we were off to the races. Watching a cheetah do their thing up close and personal was amazing, but watching two of them was twice as good! The animals are well cared for and appeared to be stress free. Pinnacle experiences were seeing the painted dogs and King Cheetah’s! After the tour Neo took us back to the hotel and our day ended. Cannot recommend this tour enough; all things you wanted to know about Cheetahs in South Africa will be acquired here!Written 28 January 2023
- TravelChapters0 contributionsAn experience I'll NEVER forget!Willy has been the most amazing guide for our group. Although we spent a week with Willy, it wasn't enough! The raw experiences are absolutely eye-opening and I couldn't thank him enough for that. I now have a high-bar of expectations for future endeavors and guides, but I truly want to thank Willy for his hard work, dedication, and knowledge he showed us on our one in a lifetime trip.Written 17 February 2020
- 985vickiek0 contributionsSun City TourSun City was beautiful and I am so glad I did the tour. However, the company I used was awful. 1. The departure time was said to be 30-60 minutes before 6:30 am. I never got a confirmation of the time. I left 4 voice mails and three emails on the Sunday I got into Johannesburg. Even if they don’t work on Sunday’s, they had weeks before to let me know a time. I got up at 4:30 to be ready for a 5:30 departure. At 6;19 am I got a message that they would pick me up at 6:30. They arrived at 7:00. 2. I had been waiting an hour and a half, I was thirsty. Bottled water was to be furnished in an air conditioned vehicle. There was no water, I asked if I could stop and get some. I paid for a bottle and thought I would be nice and got the driver one too. 3. We head out and I find out there is no air conditioning! 4. On the way back I am dying in the back seat and I have about a half bottle of water that is hot. The driver asked if he could stop and I said sure as I needed to stretch my legs. He goes in and buys water for himself, not even asking me if I wanted any. 5. He got lost on the way to my hotel and we drove for 30 minutes. I told him that was my hill behind us. He finally turned around and we started towards it. 6. He said he didn’t want to take his car up the steep hill, so I had to get out and WALK up the hill to my hotel. I was baked and thirsty, and I literally drug myself to my hotel. Mount Zion tours is terrible. They advertise one thing and did not deliver!Written 3 December 2019
- Themba M0 contributionsLearn while entertainedGet to learn about the origin of our planet earth. Need to first organize a tour guide since they make the tour to be informative and entertaining. The setting is fit for the purpose of hosting the origins of our ancestors dating back to about two million years ago. While at it don’t forget to take the underground boat ride , which depicts the origin of earth.Written 23 November 2019
- Ian E0 contributionsInformativeI booked through Mount Zion Tours and didn't realize until our professional guide showed up at the house were staying in that it was a personal tour, just me and my wife! Fortunately our guide was very informative and helpful and after getting us there and getting the tickets he said we could do the visit on our own and at our own pace and he'd just wait for us! So we met up with him again in the cafe after a few hours of self-guiding around the exhibits, which suited us just fine. So although it was rather expensive it worked out well for us. But if you want to save some money, just get there by Uber, buy your own admission tickets, and take yourself around--it is all well labelled and explained. It is defintiely a valuable thing to fo when visiting Johannesburg.Written 18 October 2019

Injured, deserted elephants are taken care in an excellent way. You learn a lot about the elephants, even their anatomy. Then you can touch, ride and even get a kiss. I’ve never been so close to an elephant and it is a great experience. All parents should go with their kids (while unfortunately the entrance fee is a bit too high)

I thought all of the animals could roam freely, but basically they're all trained to do something, or behind fences. Tanzania's motto is "there are no fences" so the animals can go anywhere. Not so at this "sanctuary".

Dear Ellen,
Thank you so much for your response and we really appreciate your concern. South Africa Elephant Sanctuary are elephants that have been rescued from the Natural park, orphans or just in a state where they can loose their life. They are collected and given another chance for them to live again. You will recall the introduction by the rangers about how or where they do get these elephants. South Africa Law might be different from Tanzania. An injured elephant can not survive in the wild, an orphan elephant can't survive in the wild. I hope this explanation will assist you to understand. Good Luck!
