Ketchikan Kayaking Tour

Overview
Discover the natural wonders of Ketchikan as you paddle along Ketchikan Creek and the Tongass Narrows on this fun kayaking tour. Hop aboard a sea kayak and set out to explore the scenic waterways, islands, and fishing villages along Ketchikan Creek. Along the way, enjoy views of Pennock and Gravina Islands, and look out for wildlife including bald eagles, seals, and sea lions.
What to Expect
Your guide will meet you on the cruise ship dock in downtown Ketchikan and walk a short distance to the floating office where paddlers are outfitted with waterproof outerwear, spray skirts, life-jackets and dry bags for cameras. Your friendly guide will give a lesson in kayaking basics and help guests into stable double sea kayaks, some with center seats for children ages 6 – 8 to ride in.

When the tide allows, you'll head right into the historic Creek Street district: Ketchikan’s own salmon stream where the houses on stilts have changed little since the roaring twenties. Crossing the Tongass Narrows, catch a glimpse of life in an Alaskan fishing town: float planes fly overhead and fishing boats head out to sea. Once across, the island exploration begins! Follow your guide along the shores of Pennock and Gravina Islands. In true Alaskan style, the residents of these islands all commute to town by boat. Watch for the majestic bald eagles that nest in the old growth trees. Colorful inter-tidal life inhabits the rocky shores. The water is home to seals and sea lions and even humpback whales or orcas are occasionally spotted. Return to the dock rejuvenated and with enough time to explore the town of Ketchikan on foot.

Had a nice time on our kayak tour. The guides were very knowledgeable and we enjoyed going up the river and hearing a bit about the town's history! No whales sited but we did see some cool starfish during low-tide. Would have like to do...More

Best day!

On a recent Alaska Cruise our party took this kayak tour. We had a blast. Our guides Bailey and Cassandra were friendly and professional. It was challenging enough without being too taxing and the sights were amazing. This was definitely the highlight of our trip!

We were on a cruise ship, but decided to book privately with this group. There were six of us so we had a tour guide to ourselves. We chose to use two-man kayaks. All the employees were friendly, accommodating, instructive, professional, and knowledgeable. We were...More

Ketchikan was about 75 degrees and sunny the day we were there in May. Temps will probably be between 60-70 in late June.
