Overview
Step off your cruise ship and into a floatplane to admire the glassy blue lakes, waterfalls and snowcapped peaks of Misty Fjords National Monument on this shore excursion from Ketchikan. Capture bird’s-eye views of varied landscapes and spot eagles, bears and plenty of other wildlife. But that’s not all — your aerial adventure, limited to just six people per plane, includes landing on a lake or fjord.
What to Expect
Meet your pilot at the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau across from the port, and climb aboard your six-passenger floatplane. During the flight, your pilot shares commentary via your headset, which also offers a musical soundtrack.
Ascend over Tongass Narrows, a body of water located between Ketchikan and Gravina Island, and fly past Ketchikan. Stare in wonder at the beauty of Tongass National Forest as you soar over Revillagigedo Island to Misty Fjords National Monument, about 40 miles (64 km) east of town.
Traveling through a low-hanging mist that gives the region its name, take in views of fjords, cliffs and rock walls jutting straight out of the water. Waterfalls cascade down narrow granite passages, and dense forests of hemlock and spruce cover the vertical slopes.
Your pilot navigates over Rudyard Bay, giving you a fantastic vantage point of New Eddystone Rock, a remnant of early volcanic activity. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife like wolves, bears, deer and eagles.
Then, get ready as your pilot makes a smooth but exciting landing on one of the fjords or lakes (depending on weather conditions). Step out onto a pontoon right in the heart of the wilderness, and soak up the scenery.
Your floatplane tour ends with drop-off back in Ketchikan.
Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your timely return to the Ketchikan port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

UNFORGETTABLE

Despite a fear of heights and, therefore, a degree of pre flight nervousness this was an experience I would not have missed for the world. A sunny, clear day, magnificent scenery and a great pilot in John.
