Always part of our Costa Rica trip
We have been to Manual Antonio area three times and every time we go, we take the sunset catamaran trip. The crew is amazing, the trip is just the right amount of time, food is great, snorkeling is fun and the sunset views can't be beat! Always a great time and we highly recommend it!

        Beautiful views of the coastline!
A wonderful trip along the Manuel Antonio coast. Beautiful views and friendly staff. The snorkeling was very fun and we saw quite a few tropical fish. Would definitely recommend!

        Sunset cruise
Because of the Covid restrictions only a few couples were on board. This actually worked in our favour as the crew had plenty of time for us. The fish dinner was wonderful and very fresh. The drinks or plentiful and cold,But beer is available for purchase only, unless you bring it with you. There is a small shop in the marina where you can buy beer and wine to takeaway.

        Perfect Sunset trip
I’ll be honest - I was at first worried that four hours at sea may be too long but I was wrong. We spent 1.5 cruising to our snorkeling spot. As someone who has gotten sea sick, I was fine without any pills but it was a little wavy if you are worried. The entire crew was super fun and supplied us with drinks and fruit. Once we arrived at the snorkeling spot they took those who were interested out to see the fish. We opted to stay near the boat and talk to the crew and got an early start to the slide and jumping from the roof. The dinner they served was delicious! Somehow the time passed by so quick and I had a wonderful time. Would recommend! Pura vida!

        Friendly crew & fun sail!
The little bus picked us up from our hotel in the morning. Note - bring your own towel, sunscreen, hat, & shoes you can slip off as you can't wear shoes on the boat. We were on the trimaran morning sail. We had about 20 of us on the boat & we all had a great time! Everyone was kept in supple of fresh drinks - water, juices, sodas, & alcohol. We cruised around for a bit & followed some playful dolphins, then headed around to the snorkel area. The snorkeling wasn't really very good - few fish, lots of people from other boats, & the water wasn't very clear. It was nice water to swim in & our boat had a waterslide! While we were swimming a delicious lunch was being prepared in the boat's galley. Hats off to our chef for preparing grilled fish & roasted veggies in that little space!! It was delicious! We headed slowly back to the dock while we ate & listened to reggae music over the boat's speakers. It was a wonderfully relaxing morning! We think we'll try the sunset cruise next time we're in town!

        Excellent Cruise
The Sunset sail was amazing. From the staff at the office to the crew on the boat were so friendly and helpful. My favorite part was going into the cove so we could watch the Sunset. Thanks so much! You make this a fabulous part of our vacation.

        Birthday Celebration
We came to Costa Rica for a birthday celebration for a friend. The Sunset sail was amazing. From the staff at the office to the crew on the boat were so friendly and helpful. They even had a birthday cake for our friend. The Best part was them going into the cove so we could watch the Sunset. I can't thank you enough for all you did to make this a wonderful part of our vacation.

        Highly recommend this tour company
We are sailors and looked at trying to charter a boat for the afternoon. We were not able to find that as an option and this was the second best thing for us. I did a bunch of research because we wanted to take a sunset sail but didn’t want to be on a huge party boat to nowhere. Our hotel recommended another outfit but after reading reviews, went with Sunset Sail. While we were out sailing, saw the other companies on the water and it confirmed I made the right decision for us. The boat had maybe 35 passengers plus crew. Price included dinner and drinks. $80 per person. Alcoholic drinks included except for beer which was $2. We saw tons of dolphins on our way out which was beautiful. We were on the trimaran and I was able to sit on the bow and hang my feet in the water. They served fresh fish for lunch and fruit. We stopped at a snorkeling spot but the water was pretty choppy so we didn’t see much. They provided all the gear. Don’t forget to bring your own towel and sunscreen! If you get seasick, then consider going earlier in day when water is calmer or ask when you call. The company is family run and the crew were all extremely kind, attentive and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend using them if you want to get out on the water.

        Sunset tour on Trimaran
We've been on this tour every time we come to Costa Rica and it's always fantastic. The crew are all bi-lingual so communication is never a problem. You can be picked up at your hotel or meet at the Sunset Sails office at Marina Pez Vela if you have your own transportation. The trip lasts several hours and scenery is always amazing as well as the drinks they server on board. Much of the trip is spent moving along the coast from Quepos to Manuel Antonio at a slow speed to enjoy the view. Depending on time of the year, you may see dolphins or whales. We went out past the islands off Playa Espadilla in search of dolphins. We saw a few but they were interested in hunting fish and not playing in the bow wave of the boat. There's a stop for snorkeling and swimming in the bay off Playa Biesanz. The boat has a slide to go down or a platform to jump off which are both fun. While we're all off playing in the water, they're cooking up a delicious meal of fish and veggies. This is always one of our favorite things to do when visiting Quepos/Manuel Antonio. We think you'll enjoy it too.

        Amazing Experience!
Sunset Sails had a phenomenal crew that was extremely knowledgeable about the area and very respectful of Costa Rica’s natural resources and wild life. Our captain and crew helped us spot a humpback whale and her calf in the bay, and we were very impressed at how they made sure to give the whales enough space as to not scare them. The crew gave us a lot of detail about the whales migration and breeding- they come up to Costa Rica to give birth in the warmer waters! We had an awesome morning swimming, snorkeling, and using the water slide once we anchored by Beisanz Beach in a cool alcove! The atmosphere on the boat was so relaxing- it was a smaller group of tourists on this boat compared to some of the massive boats that also went out that day through other charter companies. This helped to make our experience so much more personal! The open bar drinks were also fruity and fantastic :) We highly recommend Sunset Sails.

        No sails on the sailboat
Disappointed. I was looking for an authentic sail trip. This boat only has a motor. Snorkeling was non-existent. The crewman threw bait into my face by mistake in an effort to bring a few colorful fish close to the surface. I got a mouthful of the bait. Disgusting. The crew played the stereo so loudly any signs of wildlife quickly retreated. Dinner consisted of an odd presentation of refried bean paste in the shape of a pet’s lawn deposit, fried fish and boiled potatoes. The private tour was very expensive. Cash only.

        Worst tour ever!!
This company is truly awful. I have never wrote a bad review like this but the excursion was a waste of money and they tried to brush off a mix up in booking rather then fix it. They mixed up our reservation and put us on the trimaran instead of the sailboat. When we tried to talked to them they brushed us off and refused to talk to us. The. The cruise was seriously a 15 min ride then we sat in the ocean “looking for wildlife”. No up the coast sail, nothing. Then we went for another 10 min ride to where we snorkeled and sat there for the rest of the time. It was 10 min approx from the dock. You see nothing of the coast and just sit in the water for most of the time. The food was good and plentiful but for the price not worth it. We have done many many snorkel trips and this was by far the most boring and the snorkeling was not that great either. With so many amazing excursions to choose from DO NOT DO THIS ONE. I did try to talk to the staff after and he admitted there was a mix up but then tried to recant after he realized what he had said. Definitely not a Pura Vida type day.....

        Fun Sunset Tour
The Sunset Sails Tour was perfect! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the waters and Costa Rica. The boat was very clean. We had a blast snorkeling. The fish were beautiful. For more fun they had a slide and ramp to jump off of in the back of the boat. The food and non stop drinks were awesome! Can’t wait to come back and do it again! Put Vida

I went with a large group (approx 25 people) on the Sunset Catamaran Tour and it was wonderful! The crew kept us well-supplied with cocktails and fresh fruit on our way to the reef. Once there, we were able to snorkel a bit as well as jump off the top of the boat and use the waterslide! On our way back to the marina we had a delicious fish dinner while we watched the sunset.

Kevin and the whole crew made sure to point out any local wildlife (we saw whales and turtles) and would joke around with us as they handed out drinks. I should mention that the swimming and snorkeling was a small portion of the tour; if you're looking to spend 3 hours in the water this isn't the tour for you. But if you want to get tipsy, watch the sunset, and see some dope fish, then Kevin and his crew are your guys!

The Lorelei was the trimaran we were on. The crew and Cristian and his sister in the office are mostly family members. We were hoping to do the sunset cruise but got scheduled for the morning cruise because we were told “You don’t want to do a Sunset cruise, it’ll be raining!” You know what? She was right!! We saw The Iguana (left after we did and got back before us) and the Ocean King (much bigger and LOUD music). I’m glad we were on the one we took! Lunch was delicious fish or chicken, rice, fresh cooked carrots, and a veg I don’t know but enjoyed. All cooked freshly while we floated, snorkeled, played on the slide, visited with each other, enjoyed rum drinks, beer. The ride was fun! Minor and other crew members pointed out what we were passing, talked about travels. There were about 16 guests on the boat and 4-5 crew. Totally relaxing and enjoyable.

We had such a wonderful time on our private sunset cruise. The crew was excellent, sharing lots of knowledge about the surroundings and constantly refreshing our drinks. We got off the boat to snorkel but it wasn’t ideal - lots of other boats in the area and the water was too murky to see. But it worked for us since we had done a kayaking trip beforehand and had great conditions for snorkeling. Would definitely recommend a private tour if you have a group of 8 or more! We loved the special attention and getting to have time to ourselves. Seeing the sunset from the water was wonderful.

We were originally booked on the Ocean King for a sunset tour and after reading reviews, I realized that it would not be a good fit due to the number of people and loud music/party boat vibe. Since our agency works exclusively with OK, I contacted Sunset Sails regarding availability. They responded within minutes (at 9 pm!!!), and continued to respond promptly to each and every inquiry prior to departure. Terrific communication! The tour itself was just wonderful. The boat has capacity for 40 but there were 25 of us, and it was the perfect number. The staff was wonderfully attentive, the music was upbeat but no so loud that you couldn't have a conversation, and they made sure to get us to the snorkeling point before the crowded Ocean King pulled in so that we would have plenty of space for snorkeling. While it may not have been the best snorkeling in the world, we saw plenty of fish and enjoyed the experience a lot!! Plus their is a platform to jump/dive from (as well as a space for small jumps/dives from the deck) and also a slide. The food was delicious and the drinks were plentiful. If you are looking for a spring break, party boat type atmosphere, this may not be the vibe for you. But if you are a family or just someone looking for a relaxing cruise without crowds, fabulous staff, a gorgeous view of the sunset, and an overall amazing experience, this is the perfect company for you. They are family owned and operated, and you can see how much they enjoy their job and working together. I highly recommend them, and you will not be disappointed.

This sunset sail experience was much more than just watching the sunset from a boat.
The trip included a tour of the beautiful shoreline. We saw seabirds nesting on cliffs, the waves crashing on rocks and a blow-hole spray high into the air. We also met up with a pod of dolphins and saw babies as well. Then we went to a cove and snorkeled and saw so many fish. Just before sunset, we enjoyed a meal cooked on the boat that was amazing. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and the cook came up at dinner and chatted with us too.
This trip was a great way to get away from the crowded beach and see Costa Rica from a different view.
Transport was provided both ways and communication with the organizers was excellent.
      Highly recommended!

The absolute nicest people to work with. We did a private sunset cruise with our group of 18 and it was nearly the same cost of doing one not private. Kevin was our guide and help everything going. Antonio was the bar tender and we never saw the bottom of our drinks. The captain kept us safe and the chef made a delicious lunch. Try the hot sauce!

Since we were a private tour cut the started us earlier than the time published, so if you intend to rent the Volvo keep that in mind. We started earlier so that we missed the summer storms that come through and the timing could not have been more perfect!

Will definitely use them again when we return to Costa Rica! Thank you for the BEST afternoon. It was the perfect way to close our our Costa Rican adventure.

We took this trip on an overcast day. We motored out to see for an hour or so then moored for snorkeling and lunch. Our guide, Minor, has the gift of hospitality. He chatted with everyone on the boat, making each of us feel welcome and relaxed. The entire crew was friendly and helpful. Keith and his partner (sorry, I didn't get his name) did a good job balancing and serving drinks in rough seas. Lunch was very good: lightly breaded fish with rice, vegetables, and beans. Chicken was also an option.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I thought we'd learn more about the islands and history, as described in the tour description. We didn't see any marine life and snorkeling was minimal, but I think that was more a factor of the season than anything else.

All in all, I recommend this trip. Paying with cash rather than credit reduced the price from $95 to $80. Definitely worth it to pay cash!

Tour was fantastic! They were so hospitable and welcoming. As soon as we left the dock they were giving us fruity drinks (yay) and chatting away with all the customers. They kept the drinks coming and served fresh fruit throughout the coastline tour. Its a nice cruising pace and you get amazing views. We hadn't been on a boat yet during our time in Manuel Antonio and if you thought the rainforest was impressive you'll be blown away by how it looks from the water. Once you cruise around you drop anchor and swim for awhile then they give dinner. Great bonus was that there's a fresh water shower to rinse off quick so you're not sitting in ocean water the way back. I would totally do this again!

also the sunset views were on point!

If you are looking to charter a sailboat for just yourself and your wife to celebrate a wedding anniversary and the successful end to cancer treatment for $1200 and think that this will be a romantic and fun thing to do with these people .... think again. Look elsewhere. The "guide" rarely wore his mask.

We booked this tour prior to getting to Costa Rica. Everything was smooth to start out but as we got a ways out in the ocean it started raining a lot. Being the rainy season in Costa Rica we knew this was a risk. The boat has a cover so we were sheltered. The staff was cheerful and friendly and made sure we had drinks and brought towels to help keep us dry when the rain was blowing in. As one crew member chatted with us the others were really trying hard to find dolphins. Again, nature is in control here so while we didn't see any dolphins you can't blame the crew. Eventually the rain let up and we were able to go snorkeling. There was a lot of sediment in the water (being the rainy season) and so visibility was low, but we expected this. Our kids still had a great time as a crew member was in the water helping to find fish. After snorkeling we swam some more, including using a fun water slide. The fish that was cooked for lunch was really delicious. Despite the bad weather, no dolphins, and low visibility, the crew really did everything they could to make us have a fun and comfortable experience. I'm basing my rating on what the crew had control over and how they handled the situation.
