    Shanghai Tower
Stop: 60 minutes - Admission included
Make your own way to Shanghai Tower, the newest and tallest sky scrapper in China, with a height of 632 metres or 2,073 feet. The tower has some unique features, like his incredible exterior, that twits about one degree per floor to offset the wind effect on higher altitude. The Shanghai tower has two glass facades, an inner one and an outer one, like overlapping "tubes".  The observation deck at Shanghai tower is located on the 118th floor, and allows visitors to see the neighboring Jinmao Tower  and World Financial Center from above. The elevators are also some of the fastest in the world, making the whole experience of ascending and sightseeing the city a unique adventure.   In order to access to the observation deck, please redeem your official ticket at the ticket office in the Shanghai Tower Sightseeing Hall by the voucher provided by your local operator (you will receive it within 20 hours after booking is made).

You don't really need to buy a tour to visit Shanghai Tower. I went around 10 AM (the first non-cloudy/smoggy day) and it was great. Bought a ticket and went right on up. The views were awesome. I was really impressed with the elevator ride up--So Fast and Smooth!!

This is a wonderful visit for a panoramic view of the City. On a clear day you can see for miles. Senior Citizens please note that you can get a 30% discount on your ticket which is very good. Must carry your ID or passport for proof of age.

Excellent experience although couldn't see five miles due to the pollution and it was a clear day. I'm glad we went.

Amazing Shanghai becomes even more amazing on a sunny day when viewed from the top of the second tallest building in the world. I see some people got even clearer pictures but there were a few clouds when we went. Anyway, the experience was great. We saw so far for miles and, this being the third day for us in Shanghai, we recognized some buildings. One advice: they have cheaper tickets for the over 60 and for students under 23 with valid ID. They accepted the drivers license as Id, no need to carry the passport. There were no lines for tickets, maybe because it was midday on a Monday. In retrospect, I think it would have been better to come at dusk, to catch the night time when all the buildings light up .

I ask myself one question when I've completed an experience: would I do this again? In this case, NO. The lack of a glass-floored observation deck is a disappointing omission!!! Pearl Tower, although not as tall, is the better experience!

TIPS: book online - prices are similar and you skip the queue at the ticket office; try the VR cinema experience as it makes up for the lack of a glass observation deck. Choose a windier day to visit as it clears the smog and improves views somewhat.

PROS: you'll have bragging rights to the second tallest building in the world; 360 panoramic views of the city; fastest elevator in the world, BUT you don't really feel the initial acceleration

CONS: no glass observation deck. Smog usually obscures your view.

Friends
A chance to visit the Shanghai Tower came up as I had a spare day before flight home to London so a group of us decided to visit the tower. We did the obvious and tried to book ahead but the site wouldn’t allow for some reason which meant joining the sunset queue and waiting.

If you are aiming to do sunset and can’t get an advance ticket then be prepared to wait in no less than 8 different queues spanning the best part of 2 hours! An experience in itself :) but very well organised and orderly.

When you finally get there, the view is stunning and worth the effort. The Shanghai light show is amazing and a perfect view of the Bund. However, the place was packed with people sitting back to the glass making it difficult to get close to the glass and when I did, the lighting design makes it difficult to get really good pics as there is a lot of reflection.so be warned it will be difficult to get some really good quality pics as a reminder of your visit but that’s minor compared to the feeling of being up that high and the view.

In all... well worth it (including the super fast elevators) just don’t expect to pitch up and glide right through. Come prepared :)

Unbelievable view of old and new Shanghai. You can see the new skyline that has been developed in just 20 years.

Great intros on the lower level comparing to other mega tall buildings in the world, all in English. Great timeline on the construction milestone & awesome digital story in English about its recycling & energy savings. Plan to queue for 15-30 minutes at the bottom. Video the elevator speed on the way up to the top. Take your time -1-3 hours to enjoy the 360 degree view. A real appreciation for the massive size of Shanghai. Skip the 125th Floor because there is no view to the outside just the engineering of the building not in English. Plan to have coffee, tea or beer to get next to the window & sit down. Nice, affordable gifts in the gift shop @ the top and bottom. If it’s a clear day in Shanghai, don’t hesitate to tour this amazing view that looks down to 90 story buildings around it.
