Visit: Amantikir Park, Rodovia Campos do Jordao/Eugenio Lefevre, 215 Bairro Gaviao Gonzaga, Campos Do Jordao, State of Sao Paulo 12460-000 Brazil
The Serra Escarpada that accompanied the river Paraíba (ugly river in Tupi), where today is the city of Campos do Jordão, known by the natives as amantikir, "the mountain that cries", has become Mantiqueira in the pronunciation of Lusitanos. (Understand the origin of the name by knowing the legend of Amantikir).
The Amantikir Park, conceived by four lovers of Mantiqueira, intends to pay a sincere homage to the mountain's true values and its exuberant nature, free from fads and foreignisms. Geographically the Mantiqueira occupies about 25,000 km² and extends through three states, Minas Gerais (75%), Rio de Janeiro (5%) and São Paulo (20%).
