Once reaching the top of the steep trail, strap into some gear to rock climb the final section where you are met with one of the best views of the city.
What to Expect

Experience one of the most popular hikes in Rio on this guided tour of Pedra da Gavea. Start at the C sector of Tijuca National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and begin the steep trail through the lush forest.

On your way, observe native wildlife, such as small monkeys, during the two and a half hours to the top. When you can’t walk anymore, strap into the provided climbing gear to scale the Carrasqueira until you reach Pedra da Gavea. No previous rock climbing skills are needed as your guide will instruct you along the way.

Once at the top, relax and take in the scenic views of Rio de Janeiro below. At 9,060 feet, you can see Sugar Loaf mountain, the Christ the Redeemer statue, Ipanema beach, and much more. After capturing some great snapshots, rappel down the rock and head down the trail to conclude the tour.
