Overview

In this cycle ride of Kyoto’s hidden gems, you’ll beat the crowds and visit more peaceful parts of the city. From zen gardens to UNESCO-listed temples such as Kinkakuji, it’s the perfect way to spend time in the great outdoors, while learning about Japan’s history and culture from your guide. You’ll also be able to travel light as a foldable bike and helmet are both provided.

What to Expect

Your day begins at Kyoto’s NORU bicycle shop, where you’ll be fitted for a helmet and given a bike for the day. After that, you’ll start your bike ride of Kyoto’s hidden gems. The day will be easy-going, suitable for all fitness levels, and you’ll cycle roughly 4.3 miles (7-kilometers).

As well as hidden places that locals love, you’ll also save time and be able to see some of Kyoto’s top attractions too. You’ll visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site—Kinkakuju temple, and other temples such as Daitokuji, Kitanotenmangu, and Koto-in.

Your guide will take you off the usual tourist trail to discover hidden alleyways, zen gardens, and beautiful scenery that is often overlooked. It’s a glimpse at a side of Kyoto that tourists don’t usually see. You’ll end the day back at the original meeting point.

Kyoto Bike tour

Family had a fabulous time with Lianca, she really made it safe and fun for everyone! We enjoyed the casual tour, even with the record heat the morning tour was fine. Thanks for a memorable day!

Great morning activity!

We had Lianca for a tour guide. She did a great job of explaining history behind temples and traditions- very informative! Visited several temples, geisha district and had some delicious cold tea to cool off in the heat. Highly recommend the tour!!

Thank you Lee!

This tour was awesome - the stories were fascinating and we stopped off at some great points of interest. We had a swim in the river which was an added bonus on a hot summers day plus some! Lee was the perfect guide. Highly recommend!
