Learn about some of Japan’s most ancient rituals in this private Kyoto tea ceremony with a tea master. Language barriers can make it difficult to understand what’s going on, but you won’t have to worry, as you’ll have an English-speaking guide to translate and ask your questions to the tea master. You can also choose to enhance your tour by trying on a kimono.
  • Enjoy a personalized Japanese tea ceremony in a private Kyoto home
  • Great choice for travelers who want to learn about Japan’s traditions
  • No language obstacles as your guide speaks English
  • Tea tastings and snacks included
What to Expect
Your day begins by meeting your English-speaking guide. The tea ceremony is one of the most ancient and highly respected practices in Japan. Head to a traditional Kyoto home (machiya), ensuring an authentic experience. As the ceremony begins, learn all the important facets of tea preparation, including proper posture and the correct use of matcha powder. Along the way, your guide is there to translate any questions you have for the tea master. Finally, enjoy the tea accompanied by a sweet snack to go with it, and if you’ve booked the kimono option, learn how to properly wear the traditional garment. The day ends with a return to your original departure point.
