Guangzhou Foodie Tour
From US$86.04
Overview
Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong (Canton), the region that gave its name to Cantonese food. Rather than wander a city of 15 million people hoping to find the best eateries, enlist the expertise of a friendly local guide on this small-group walking tour of the Liwan neighborhood. Stop at markets, bakeries, and local eateries, and sample dishes from dim sum to Chinese cakes.
What to Expect
Greet your guide and small group outside the subway station and head out into the bustling streets and alleyways of Liwan. Start with a stroll through the fish markets, a wholesale market full of live fish and shellfish—the perfect spot to sample salt and pepper prawns.
The precise itinerary changes daily, but you might well try pan-fried dumplings, succulent roast duck, Cantonese cakes from historic bakeries, and desserts made from buffalo milk or glutinous rice.
One reliable highlight is dim sum at one of China’s finest Cantonese restaurants. Enjoy a classic Cantonese dumpling feast and discover connoisseur dishes like sea cucumber dumplings. After your tour ends, your guide can provide directions to the nearest subway station or help you get a taxi back to your hotel.

Yummy

In a group of five, me and my friend enjoyed the street food tour in GZ last Saturday. The food we tasted was varied and all delicious (some pics attached). Our local guide was knowledgeable and pleasant to be with. Highly recommended. Martin

The trip was 4.5 or 5hrs, ie from 10am to about 14:30 or 15hrs. It is a walking tour. There is some sitting for eating the food during the walk. If the elderly are fot to walk for 4-5 hrs with breaks, then should be ok
