Small-Group Walking Tour of St. Petersburg
Join this 4-hour walking tour in the city of St Petersburg and enjoy learning about the life beyond all the gilded palaces, cathedrals and other touristy spots. Learn about the city and explore its fabric by strolling its historical neighborhoods, visiting markets, active churches, backyards of residential buildings. Discuss cultural peculiarities, visit addresses of famous residents, writers, politicians, scientists and other celebrities.
What to Expect
Meet the guide 15 minutes before 10:30am inside Julia Child Bistro. Enjoy this 4-hrour walking tour, conducted in English by a professional local guide. Participants are encouraged to offer themes or ideas for the walk, and the guide will incorporate that into his/her own plan, making it unique.

The tour will most likely* include: the writer Dostoyevsky and his Crime and Punishment, the active St Nicholas church, 18 century canals, bridges and backstreets of the historical Kolomna, the Mariinsky Theatre (without going inside) and the addresses of associated celebrities, the island of New Holland, the English Embankment, the Senate square and the Bronze Horseman, and much more, possibly a detour to the Troitsky cathedral and market, or even a visit to Vasilievsky Island with its many delights. Variations upon request are possible. Discuss the plan with the guide when you meet.

A stop for a coffee or snack can be made upon request, or you can request to be dropped off at a restaurant at the end of tour. Also possible to include a ride by public transport - a useful practical skill to learn in this city. Ask our guide where to go out for a traditional shot of vodka or where to buy a Soviet army hat, or anything else you want to do/see in St Petersburg but wouldn’t know who else to ask.

A bit slow for us

We love walking tours when we have limited time in a new city. I liked the idea of this tour focusing on sights besides the main area since we had a full day at Winter Palace etc planned already. But in 4 hours we covered...More

Lovely walk. So informative and Dimitri makes it so interesting by giving you details through the lens of literature and history. He makes you see STB as a local, which is amazing! Even though we walked a lot, it was a chilled walk that didn't...More
