Traditionally, octopus have been caught by luring them into so called octopus pots. You will experience pulling up an octopus pot barrel and then cooking what you caught. We will sail out from the pier to the Inland Sea and head to the haul-out point. Return to the fishing port and observe the basic process of cooking an octopus (join in possible if desired), and then have lunch. We will use the traditional method of cooking octopus, called "ikijime," and receive an explanation on how to do that. Ikijime is a method of (humanely) destroying the spinal cord of fish so that the quality of their meat is maintained.
