About
Even more than a thousand years past, form ancient times the Jigoku Region of Kannawa and Kamegawa is described as home to fuming gas expulsions, bubbling mud, and steaming hot water in the Bungo Topography. It was a place that people feared to approach and was said to have been an accursed land. There is no surprise that it came to be known familiarly as a place of “jigoku”(“hells”). even today, the locations in Kannawa where hot springs wll up continue to be known by the name “jigoku”.

Hells of Beppu It is a tourist attraction that has a collection of countless hell springs in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture. It was designated a National Scenery on July 23, 2009 as one of the 8 most famous hot springs. The only thing here is the Blood Pond Hot Spring or Chinoike Jigoku, a red hot spring similar to the color of blood. Made from pure clear mineral water flowing together with concentrated natural minerals. Resulting in a tea color that is almost red. It looked like it was rust colored and was emitting hot steam all the time.

Weather was hot as hell when we visited this Beppu Famous Hell Hotspring attractions. Well, the parks basically showcase various types of hotsprings and mud pools, all nested in beautifully landscaped parks and surroundings. Air in the parks were filled with not so pleasant smelling Sulphur and thick white steam. Some of these parks have hot springs that allow visitors to soak their tired feet. There is a crocodile farm which houses many large crocs which was rather scary. Only managed to cover 5 out of the 7 themed hotspring parks as the last 2 were a little off the walking distance and we were running late.
