Booked this tour and were picked up by "Tony" our chef and guide for the morning.

Went to the market and had a look around, back in the van, off to the river for some "fishing". Into little round basket boats and taken round a small circuit in the river ending up in a clear space where we watch a man do tricks on hos boat to "Gangnum Style" music. Then a chap casting his fishing net. Doubtful there were any fish around.
Back on land and off to the Cooking School. Pleasant and well set up. Instruction provided as we prepared five dishes and cooked them in turn to eat. Very tasty and dishes we would like to make at home.
Tony has promised the recipes but some 7 days later they haven't arrived in our inboxes. We have been trying to remember but there was a lot going on.
Beers available with the food - but extra.
It would just be nice to have our recipes - Thanx Tony!!

Dear Ms/Mr Rob, Thank you for your sincere feedback. First of all,we are very sorry that our service didn't meet your expectations. We are currently reviewing what you mention " Fishing Village Tour" service to have the best improvement so that all customers come with us have total pleasure. As for the issue of the recipes you didn't receive, we also understand that it is important to you and we don't understand why not run on your email. Because most of the time after finishing the cooking class, we would send all email immediately that day. I think that was a mistake when entering your email address,so it didn't reach you or into your spam email. However, we do not hesitate and plesant to send it again. I hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you again soon. Best Regards, Chef Hai ( Tony)

This was the second tour we went on during our stay in Hoi An and was undoubtedly a highlight. From the moment we were picked up at our hotel, our guide was friendly and informative. The first stop was a local market where he took us around and told us about the various parts of the market and how the food was either grown locally or from other parts of Vietnam. He answered our questions and we had the chance to purchase local fruits to try. We then were taken to Coconut village where we boarded coconut boats (2 to a boat) and taken by a local around the coconut mangroves. We stopped to take photos and watch local fisherman. There was also the opportunity to have a “ride” in a coconut boat with someone who’d spin you around and do tricks. We also got the chance to do a little crab fishing - our guide was a really locally local lady who helped find quiet parts of the mangrove to take photos and gave us native hats to wear. Following our trip on the boat we went to a small local outside kitchen where we prepared four dishes - papaya salad, spring rolls, Vietnamese pancake and a chicken dish. Our guide taught us about all the ingredients and we helped to prepare and cook all the dishes. It was so much fun and a really enjoyable experience - we would recommend if you have a half day free.

I had the most incredible experience with Cooking Class Hoi An: Local Market, Basket Boat, Fishing & Cooking. From start to finish, it was a journey of culinary delight and cultural immersion that I'll never forget.

First, our guide took us to the vibrant local market, where we got to see and touch the freshest ingredients. It was fascinating to learn about the different herbs, spices, and vegetables that are the heart of Vietnamese cuisine. The market visit alone was an educational and sensory delight.

Next, we hopped on traditional basket boats, a truly unique experience that allowed us to navigate through the serene waterways of Hoi An. The tranquility of the surroundings was breathtaking, and it was a perfect contrast to the bustling market.

Fishing with local fishermen was a highlight. Their expertise and passion for their craft were evident as they taught us the traditional methods of fishing. We tried our hands at fishing for crabs that live amongst the coconut trees. It was an authentic glimpse into the local way of life.

But the real magic happened when we returned to the cooking class. The chef was not only incredibly skilled but also patient and passionate about teaching us the art of Vietnamese cooking. We prepared a variety of dishes, from fresh spring rolls to savory pho, all bursting with flavor. I was amazed at how easy they made it seem, and I left with the confidence to replicate these dishes at home.

The setting for our meal was picturesque, with a view of the tranquil waterways and lush greenery. Dining on the dishes we had prepared ourselves was a true culinary triumph. The flavors were exquisite, and the satisfaction of knowing we had created them ourselves made it all the more special.

This cooking class was not just about food; it was a cultural journey that provided insight into the heart and soul of Hoi An. The guides and chefs were not only knowledgeable but also warm and welcoming, making us feel like part of their extended family.

I can't recommend Cooking Class Hoi An: Local Market, Basket Boat, Fishing & Cooking enough. It's an unforgettable experience that combines adventure, education, and delicious food. Whether you're a seasoned cook or a novice in the kitchen, this class is a must-do when in Hoi An. You'll leave with a full belly, a deeper appreciation for Vietnamese cuisine, and cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Omg this tour was so good
I went solo as my hubby was sick & I am so glad I still went
Picked up from my hotel & there was about 10 of us on the tour.
Hai was exceptional tour guide - first took us to the market then we went to the bamboo round boats for a ride down the river. WOW what an experience. Even though it was raining they provided umbrellas & Vietnamese hats & we kept dry. The locals spin the bamboo boats & out on a show - it was fabulous!
Then we went to the MKR of Vietnam lol to do some cooking! We made several authentic dishes and then sat down to eat our creations
If you enjoy Vietnamese food - this was a fantastic tour & was varied with the bamboo boats too
Thank you so much Hai for the experience
        Highly recommend

Great experience from start to finish. Our guide Tony took excellent care of us. As the trip name suggests we started in a local market where we picked up most of the ingredients used later for cooking. The basket boat tour took us around a local fishing village and we got to try our hand at some of the techniques used on the river. We finished at the restaurant where we made 4 different dishes, all included veggie options if necessary. I highly recommend this class/experience. Thank you Tony!!

The whole experience from start to finish was fun. Our guide and chef Hai brought us to a local market where he showed us all the different produce for sale. We then went on to the coconut boats where we went crab fishing and saw coconut boat spinning in action. We finished up by making spring rolls, rice pancakes, papaya salad and steamed chicken. They were so tasty and we were so full afterwards.

The experience as a whole was great value and Hai was a brilliant host.

Me and my friend booked on to the trip as we wanted to experience cooking local food and see the coconut boats!

Hai picked us up on time and took us for a tour of the markets showing us the food that we would be cooking with later. We then went to the fishing town for a coconut boat ride which was very good fun and we even caught a couple crabs!

After this we went to his restaurant where we cooked 4 Vietnamese dishes, Hai is very knowledgeable and a very good chef, all the food we cooked was delicious! He was a great teacher and good fun!

Would definitely recommend this tour to friends.

Our guide/chef was Hii. He is so down to earth and talented. We thought it would be a group tour, but it ended up just being us three. It was very personal and I felt like I truly immersed in their culture. We visited a local market and Hii explained to us every ingredient we would be cooking later with. Then we headed to the coconut boat tour, where a local fisher man took us on a boat ride. He took pictures of us, made us try throwing a fishing net and try crab fishing. Then we went to a local family's restaurant and learned to cook fried spring rolls, papaya salad, Vietnamese rice pancakes and chicken in clay pot. Everything was exquisite, and our guide even made us three more dishes to try. I had nothing but positive vibes from this experience!!! A must if you come to Hoi An

Brilliant day chef Hai was great and made the experience really enjoyable if you are looking at different cookery classes we would recommend this one, you cook 4 dishes, eat 9 dishes and there is loads of food, lots of drink options that you pay for but they are cheap and the place is really clean. Max 12 people on the class and you get all the recipes after. Great time

This tour was the opportunity to go for a basket boat ride, a market tour and a cooking class. The market was a poor example of a Vietnamese market, but I put that down to the time of day. It was probably about 3. The basket boat ride surpassed my expectations. They made the getting in easy. Our “driver” was excellent. There were lots and lots of other basket boats in action at the same time, and there were other drivers putting on a show. Getting out was surprisingly easy too.

The cooking class was more than just the usual fresh spring rolls and banana flower salad. We were left feeling well fed, having eaten what we cooked and some other dishes. Cold drinks were available for purchase,

Pick up and return from/to the hotel made it very easy for us. The final touch was Chef Hai sending us the recipes.
