About the operator

- julianwC8814RV0 contributionsGreat private bicycle tour and amazing foodWe took off early in the morning and where picked up from our hotel. The tour guide was incredibly friendly with good English skills and we went for a chill cycle tour through rice fields including water buffalo riding. After a reaching a river we sat down for some drinks before taking a coconut boot with nice atmosphere, including karaoke’s on the river and the option for fishing. After that we chilled with a fresh coconut before heading to a local market and ultimately for lunch. The food was truly amazing and the waitresses as always in Vietnam very friendly. Overall a very cool experience and we highly recommend you try it and relax yourself! PS: Extra props to our tour guide for showing us around and proving us with cool information anf insights along the way!Written 14 March 2025
- Rachel S0 contributionsA really lovely tour with a great guide. This tour was booked for us by our travel agent. We are so pleased she chose it for us! Our guide was called Man and he was really friendly. He took us on a cycle tour of the rice paddies around the outskirts of Hoi An. He was very accommodating and encouraged us to stop to take photos along the way. When he realised we were interested in stopping to see local birds along the way (there are lots we don’t have in England including some beautiful kingfishers), he modified the planned itinerary so that we could spend more time doing this in the early part of the tour when they were most active. We were taken to a river to try out a basket boat (a very touristy experience - but very fun!), and then as we had some extra time before our lunch stop Man suggested an additional lantern making activity we could also do if we wanted. We did and it was so much fun (and good value). Our lunch stop at the end was delicious, really yummy food, friendly service and flexible for vegetarians. Overall we had a great time and were really impressed with the tour, and particularly with Man. Thank you!Written 8 March 2025

Hai was our chef and point of contact. We felt extremely welcome and fully included in the whole afternoon and evening. The coconut boat ride was fun and was a good opportunity to mix with the other attendees. The food prep and cooking class portion was easy and well organised. Also the food prep techniques were simple but brilliant, and not surprisingly the resultant cooked food was amazing. Value for money was tremendous and I would recommend this particular cooking class for anyone thinking of participating.

Incredible cooking class experience! Hai was the absolute best host and chef. The coconut basket tour was included and was a fun little excursion before we cooked. Come hungry because you get to make a variety of traditional dishes. Their menu changes with the seasons, so you’re guaranteed to have the fresh, seasonal ingredients. I have celiac and am pescatarian and they were very attentive to dietary restrictions. Highly recommend if you’re in Hoi An!

Omg this tour was so good
I went solo as my hubby was sick & I am so glad I still went
Picked up from my hotel & there was about 10 of us on the tour.
Hai was exceptional tour guide - first took us to the market then we went to the bamboo round boats for a ride down the river. WOW what an experience. Even though it was raining they provided umbrellas & Vietnamese hats & we kept dry. The locals spin the bamboo boats & out on a show - it was fabulous!
Then we went to the MKR of Vietnam lol to do some cooking! We made several authentic dishes and then sat down to eat our creations
If you enjoy Vietnamese food - this was a fantastic tour & was varied with the bamboo boats too
Thank you so much Hai for the experience
Highly recommend

This was the second tour we went on during our stay in Hoi An and was undoubtedly a highlight. From the moment we were picked up at our hotel, our guide was friendly and informative. The first stop was a local market where he took us around and told us about the various parts of the market and how the food was either grown locally or from other parts of Vietnam. He answered our questions and we had the chance to purchase local fruits to try. We then were taken to Coconut village where we boarded coconut boats (2 to a boat) and taken by a local around the coconut mangroves. We stopped to take photos and watch local fisherman. There was also the opportunity to have a “ride” in a coconut boat with someone who’d spin you around and do tricks. We also got the chance to do a little crab fishing - our guide was a really locally local lady who helped find quiet parts of the mangrove to take photos and gave us native hats to wear. Following our trip on the boat we went to a small local outside kitchen where we prepared four dishes - papaya salad, spring rolls, Vietnamese pancake and a chicken dish. Our guide taught us about all the ingredients and we helped to prepare and cook all the dishes. It was so much fun and a really enjoyable experience - we would recommend if you have a half day free.

The food we cooked was good but we didn't enjoy the trip.
We went to the marked to buy some vegetables but stayed there for only 20 minutes. Then we went to the Coconut village and went on a basket-boat trip - didn't like that at all-. It seemed like a 'tourist hell'. Everything was just for show, even the fishermen throwing their nets. The 'fishing' consisted of 5 minutes of crab fishing aboard the basket-boat. Later the crabs were released back in to the river.
Then we went to the place for the actual cooking class which was nice. The chef was very friendly and funny but we wish he had taught us more the specifics of vietnamese cooking.
Do if you're looking for an actual Vietnamese cooking class I wouldn't recommend it. If your looking for a touristy 'fun' trip you should definitely book this class

Dear Ms/Mr Esray,
First of all, we kindly to sincerely thank you for sharing both the advantages and disadvantages of our service to improve in the future. We are also very appologize for can’t providing the best satisfaction when using the service. However, this is a combination of exploring nature, local culture and cuisine in just 4,5 hours, we have arranged the best time to ensure you can participate in all the activities. Besides, we would like to let you know that we have only cooking class service . Hopefully next time you come back, we will have the opportunity and time to teach you more about local cuisine. Enjoy your trip in Viet Nam!
Best Regards,
Hoi An Tropical Cooking team

The cooking class was more than a class, it was an experience. We got to experience the coconut boats where we fished for crabs and the locals would spin us around in their boats. The cooking class section was very entertaining and easy. For someone who doesn’t cook much this was a very easy cooking class and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this for everyone who loves flavours, experiences and laughter

Cooking school in Hoi An was an excellent afternoon for us. First, after being picked up from our hotel, we went to market to select the produce for our meal. Ho, our chef and guide, took the time to explain all about the vegetables and products he bought and the flavours of each.
We then went to the coconut boat tour, which was great fun. A tourist trap, but fun none the less. We went out on the river and saw spinning boats accompanied by disco music. Then we caught some small crabs with fishing pole.
We then transferred back to the kitchen. Firstly the area was very clean and well laid out. Mandatory hand washing and then Ho organised us into teams and the cooking began. We made Spring rolls, salad and a chicken dish. I eat it all!
Really enjoyable experience of Vietnamese cooking.

Our guide had fantastic English & a great sense of humour.
Bamboo boats were great fun with great rowers/drivers. Spinning boat ride was an option that was worth the extra 100k VND.
Explanations for cooking were clear and easy to follow. The food was delicious and ingredients are something I know I can find at home to cook these recipes.
Highly recommend for a great half day activity!

Hi guys, we have 2 friends who are vegans but would love to be in this class. Is there options for vegans ?
Written 16 February 2025
Yes, when we did the tour, there were vegans included. They had ingredient options and did not feel excluded. You eat what you cook, do no issues there. You might just want to avoid the fish/ meat rows of the market; but the tour guide is very accommodating. 😊
