Itinerary
- 1See what happens in Hoi An after sunset on an evening food and walking tour. By exploring at night, you'll enjoy cooler temperatures and see a different side to Hoi An Ancient Town’s illuminated landmarks. Feast on Vietnamese delicacies—including BBQ pulled pork and white-rose dumplings—you may have otherwise missed, and receive personalized attention from your guide in a small group limited to 12 people. In the early evening, greet your guide at a designated meeting point and receive an introduction to the culinary culture of Hoi An. The first stop is a local bakery famous for their bahn mi (a Vietnamese baguette filled with meat or vegetables). Join locals in feasting on pulled pork rolled in rice paper; browse stalls selling local produce at a Hoi An market; and sit down to enjoy Vietnamese specialties at a restaurant favored by your guide. After chicken, rice, dumplings, and dessert, your food tour concludes at a Hoi An bar with Vietnamese coffee and beer.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- ScrumptiousSolent0 contributionsGood - but the daytime market is betterIt’s a small market with lots of tourist stuff to buy. Prices are good and it’s interesting for a quick walk around but we preferred the ‘real’ central market during the day where you see what the locals buy!Written 17 February 2025
- 336heather0 contributionsMassively busy but must see!Went in February and it was heaving! Must do experience though with loads of stalls and lights and people shouting about their wares. People trying to sell boat trips. Worth going for the experience.Written 14 February 2025
- Rajeev G0 contributionsWonderful Lantern Capital of EarthA must visit place in Vietnam, 20km from Danang. Best time to visit is evening when its sunset and lamterns start lighting up all around ancient town, Japanese Bridge, and river is flooded with lightsWritten 28 January 2025
- Storkorpen0 contributionsLivelyWe visited the night market on a couple of occasions. A colorful, lively, crowded and noisy spectacle. Maybe a little too touristy but still nice.Written 19 January 2025
- Vacation6174400 contributionsSo much hassling :(Had heard really good things about Hoi An, and maybe it’s because its low season and business is slow but the entire of old town is just constant hassling from taxi drivers, boat tours, night vendors and massage parlours. Honestly puts a large stain on the town for me. It’s a very touristy area in general and doesn’t feel very authentic anymore, somewhere i wouldn’t go back toWritten 2 January 2025
- rohita2180 contributionsMust ExperienceSuch a view once you enter this location. Vibrant and beautiful and unique. Colors and beautiful lanterns and various designs lit the atmosphere. Shops shops shops along side many great restaurants. Great food. Difficult to resist shopping here with really nice souvenirs. Do not forget to negotiate the prices. Loved every moment spent here. We were here for 5 nights and went every day.Written 31 December 2024
- rohita2180 contributionsBeautiful ExperienceHeard stories but then I was lucky to experience this. This town is gorgeous. There are 2 types of boat. We took the boat with engine….guy did not speak a word of English but still he made us feel comfortable. Gave us a long ride. Next day we took the rowing boats and completed our experience with both options. We loved every moment spent there.Written 29 December 2024

- rickywC7646AB0 contributionsNight ShoppingWe spent our evening exploring the colorful lantern-lit market. Prices were typical for tourists, but we managed to get some decent deals after bargaining. The food section was a bit cramped, but we enjoyed trying local snacks. Nice atmosphere, though it gets pretty crowded after 8 PM.Written 12 December 2024

- nguyennV1416PY0 contributionsHoi An Market: A Vibrant Cultural HubHoi An Market is the heart of the city’s trading scene and a bustling hub of daily life. Located near the Thu Bon River, the market offers a wide range of local goods, from fresh produce and seafood to handmade crafts and souvenirs. It’s an excellent place to experience the flavors of Hoi An through its street food stalls, offering dishes like cao lau and banh mi The market also serves as a window into the city’s cultural diversity, as vendors of all ages gather to sell their products, providing a lively and colorful experience for visitors.Written 4 October 2024
- TamC2230 contributionsGreat local shoppingWalked through the market and haggled for various gifts to take home to UK. Wonderful array of items on offer at what we considered cheap prices. Don't forget to haggle though as nobody insisted on the original price quoted. Loads of street food stalls selling some exotic options to us Westerners. Octopus tentacles and whole frogs roasted on the BBQ being 2 of the stand out skewers. There are numerous other sit down restaurants should you want a full meal. Brilliant and colourful experience, not to be missed.Written 3 October 2024

This night market exceeded my expectations.
Seeing the river illuminated with all the colored lanterns carried by boats and the small lamps that people drop into the water after making a wish is amazing.
Hoi An is the city I liked the most in Vietnam. The night market is a must. It is a market without chaos because cars and motorbikes can not be driven which allows you to enjoy the typical food stalls very good, craft stalls, souvenirs and of course see all these stalls with the lanterns on.
I want to end by saying that the atmosphere is great, with music, in an area where I found myself very safe.
Although it is still a tourist place I recommend it 100%.

Our guide Jackie was the best! She took us on a tour of so many delicious stops, complete with narratives about the proprietors and history. I cannot recommend this tour more highly.
We've visited Hoi An several times before, but always during the day. At night it was so charming!

This is a must do by all accounts. Walking around Hoi An Ancient town is such an a fun experience with all the lights, lanterns, music, food and people but the night market is a whole new experience on its own.
There were so many things me and my partner wanted to buy and they come at a reasonable price. The haggling is one of the best parts about it and means you can get an even better deal.
In our experience stall #39 had the nicest staff who also recommended places to eat and drink as well as things to see around the city. The owner was Ms Anh but her husband was working that night and him and I had some long and entertaining haggling battles. So happy with the things that I brought and the price I paid. The two of them are such fun people so go round and see them.
Definitely recommend.

Amazing service at stall number 34! The man was very kind, respectful (not pushy at all) and gave extremely fair prices. If you are visiting the hoi an night market and are unsure where to buy from… go to stall number 34 for the best experience!
Thank you for my Buddha. Wishing you all the best, and good luck in the future!

Great stall with even better people! I was given a “student” discount for the items I purchased and the man working there was the nicest/most chill guy ever. He was very funny, likable, and most importantly the experience was enjoyable! Thank you!!

The night market is cool. Lots of things to see. Beautiful lanterns. There are two stalls you gotta check out. Stall 33 and stall 34. These guys have great English, are lots of fun and will give you the best prices in the market. No pressure to buy anything and they have nice souvenirs.

I did the Hoi An Night Market food tour with Ms. Young. We were joined by another solo traveler.
The context of my rating is based on the fact that I did three other food tours in my time in Vietnam; two in Ho Chi Minh, and one in Danang. What I really liked about those other tours is that I felt I got a lot of color about both the food and the locale from my tour guides. I didn't get that feeling from this tour. The food was very good, and Ms. Young adjusted the tour as my compatriot really wanted to try the mussels, which wasn't on the original itinerary. I just felt the tour was lacking beyond the food.
We started with white rose dumplings. They were delicious. We didn't get much history on how they originated and what makes them different. That theme continued throughout the tour; delicious food, not a lot of background. It was a good tour, not a great one.

Night scenes with lots of various colourful lanterns brightly lit up the riverside areas. Some couples take boat rides, some try out local food and beer amidst the busy streets. Some artists carved out beautiful heads and faces from bamboo roots and some drew beautiful pictures too. A night to remember.

My wife, daughter and I just wanted to leave a little review, firstly to say that the night markets are amazing, a must when visiting Hoi An. And a special mention for Mr. My @ Stall No. 33. As the sign on his stall says "No pressure, No pushing, Take easy, be happy and looking is free". He is a true gentleman, an absolute pleasure to deal with and most importantly excellent deals to be done. We highly recommend that you pay him a visit if in the Hoi An area.

I have an allergy to nuts, are you able to please confirm whether this will be okay?

Whether what will be OK? What does an allergy to nuts have to do with visiting a night market? I don't understand why you are asking this question....
