About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- carolynlC5510SB0 contributionsNightmare and dangerousThere was a huge storm and all of the land sites were flooded. It was unsafe and dangerous and not once did they stop the tour. We had to walk through flood waters which were like water falls down the walk ways. The driver drove through floods and much of the roads were under water and being washed away. It was unsafe to snorkel and the ocean and waves were dangerous, we were told the trip would go ahead but two spots were too dangerous to visit, we would only get one snorkel. We refused to put children in that much danger and were told we were “skipping”. I thought we were going to end up on the news as one of those stupid tourist who had to get recused. I requested a part refund and received a smaller refund than requested, which was disappointing as we didn’t get to do most of the tourWritten 17 January 2025

My family's enchanting getaway to Nusa Penida's Manta Bay exceeded expectations! This snorkeling paradise, nestled in Bali's stunning coastline, offered an unforgettable experience amidst breathtaking natural beauty. Crystal-clear waters provided optimal visibility, allowing us to swim effortlessly alongside majestic manta rays.
We explored additional treasures: Crystal Bay's pristine beaches, perfect for relaxation; Angel's Billabong's unique landscape, a photographer's dream; and mesmerizing sunsets that painted the sky with vibrant hues. Our Nusa Penida adventure created lifelong memories, strengthening family bonds and leaving us with cherished moments."

My partner and I had an unforgettable time snorkeling with Manta Bay in Nusa Penida. The crew was professional, friendly, and made us feel safe from start to finish. Seeing the manta rays up close was surreal, and the vibrant coral reefs and colorful fish added to the beauty.
The intimate couple's tour made the experience even more special, with personalized attention and fewer people. After snorkeling, we enjoyed a delicious lunch with stunning island views. This tour is a must-do for any couple visiting Nusa Penida!
Thank you, team, for an amazing adventure! We'll be back!

Excellent day out, though some of our party couldn’t make it due to a bout of Bali Belly - which turned out to be a good thing for them as they had kids (7 & 9) which we know they would have hated due to massive crashing swells and waves going right over the boat. Still, one of our party with us had severe sea sickness which put a massive dampener on the snorkelling for her (they rated -2/10, rest of us 9/10). However the drive around the island afterwards was exceptional, with amazing views, basic lunch and good vibes. This island drive redeemed her earlier rating up to 7/10 overall and the rest of us 9/10.
Highlights:
Stunning views of the island, snorkelling with wide range of tropical fish, partying with the driver
Lowlights:
Not getting to see a manta ray, island traffic congestion, building an elevator for tourists!
Feedback:
Get people used to snorkelling by starting at a bay with no to low swells, before heading to more choppy areas. More people would have swam in Mantra Ray Bay after building confidence in calmer areas.

Starting with the fact that it was incredibly unclear where we were going at the marinas and who was going with whom in the group. They just shouted it out while there was a lot of noise and commotion from other groups and passers-by, so we didn't catch anything.
The boat was also old and worn and did not have enough seats for everyone, so many people sat on the edge of the boat the whole trip.
The snoring itself was very pleasant then!
Then we were told that we would have time to shower and change before lunch, but here we were only bothered and our guide asked us to sneak in front of many others who were queuing, so we got a lot of ugly looks. Then we were as quick as we could to quickly rinse off and then went to change when the guide comes over again nagging us that we have to hurry and that we have to leave even though we did it as fast as we could.
Then came lunch, which wasn't exactly a height record either. Was rice with some noodles that tasted like it was cooked in chlorine water and dry chicken…
Then came the "Island tour" part where our guide just said we could take pictures before we had to almost run to the next place. We wanted to see and take a look, but he said straight out "then we'll go over there and take a picture and we'll come back here as soon as we're done with it"... had to constantly run after our guide if he didn't start nagging.
Then came the included shuttle home (which we also had to pay extra for since we live in Uluwatu) where the driver chooses the most bumpy road to drop people off on. We were three groups in one car going to three very different places. The driver first drives quite far south and drops off first, then he drives all the way back up to where we started the whole trip to drop off others and then drop us off last in the south again which was almost next to the first group's hotel... ended up sitting in that car for 3.5 hours…
We paid almost NOK 1,800 for this... it's absolutely insane! If it had cost much less, the whole scheme would have been a different matter, but for this price, it just doesn't work!

The trip overall was good but the whole day felt very rushed. Our driver had been given the wrong hotel address so we got picked up 40 minutes late after waiting since 0615. The boat to and from Nusa Penida had 150 people on it and was very stuffy inside, particularly when people started getting seasick! Sadly no manta rays but the rest of the snorkelling was very good. There are only 3 snorkelling stops, not 4, and you get around 20mins at each one. I would recommend bringing your own snorkel if you have one as the ones provided were leaky. Lunch was basic but yummy. The island tour was the most disappointing bit for me - we spent many hours being driven around very narrow bumpy roads to spend very little time at the viewpoints. It was a case of get out the car, take photos, get back in the car. The walk around broken beach was better though and we got to see a turtle swimming from the island! Overall, there seem to be too many tourist companies and therefore too many people and vehicles for you to actually enjoy the natural beauty of this fantastic place.

I booked this trip as solo. We got into the boat and headed to the first stop which was Manta bay. The boat’s speed was so fast as we’re passing by all the other boats. At some point the kid in the boat started to cry because he was very afraid as we were. The guys in the boat did not care about it all. We did spend 5 min in Manta Bay as there we no mantas and nothing to see. We spend 20 min tops in other spots which was not expected as well. It was a fast-forward trip in general. For the lunch, we went to a place where we spent only 30 min or so. The rest of the trip was bumpy roads 3 hours, taking pictures and going back to the car. We couldn’t enjoy anywhere because of time. The ferry between bali and nusa penida was another story:) i would recommend go by yourself and enjoy the beach and the island as much as you can. Otherwise, it is an average experience.

This was the worst tour I've been on in my life. From start to finish it felt very disorganized and we were treated like hearded cattle. We were absolutely packed onto the boats like sardines. Once we got out of our transport at the tour place getting our tickets etc., we were crammed all together with little to no explanation of what was happening, this was to be the case for the entire tour. The big boat we took to the island was overcrowded and was a hot box of sweat with very small seats. Then we got to island which was a human trash bin and a 3rd world experience. We again were grouped together very tightly for a very long time to get snorkel and fins. On the little boat we took out to the 3 snorkeling spots we were so tightly packed together it felt unsafe. We didn't have adequate seating just all squashed bags and all onto a box. The ocean was very rough and so made what could have been a wonderful snorkeling experience very unpleasant. We did see 1 manta ray but only from the boat. It felt like we were there for 10 minutes. Most of the snorkeling spots the tour guides left the engine of the boat on and for the ones like our son vomiting this made it much worse. The island part of tour wasn't worth it in my opinion. Our guide refused to put the air con on properly which again became a hot box of sweat. The views were lovely but we couldn't swim in crystal bay. The island is hideous to say the least and I feel sorry for ones who stayed there. The roads are appalling. It was all the same in reverse on our return. In the car back to the accommodation we had a driver who wanted to prove he was a race car driver. Everyone in the car felt unsafe and using there own foot break hoping to slow him down. Then he pumped music loud like it was a party. The whole trip was very chaotic, theres to many things to do and see for one tour, there wasn't any communication. Theres lots to say but overall not worth your money or time in my opinion.

Pick up was timely. We then got to this random as port near Sanur (not Sanur) and then were packed into a fast boat - was very hot and a lot of people.
Seas were VERY rough and I think a heads up from the tour providers would’ve been good - a lot more people would’ve taken seasickness tablets.
When we got there we went to the “office” which is a tarpaulin tent. This was quite gross. We also “showered” here after aka an outdoor tap. There was also not enough towels for everyone so we drip dried. The whole thing was quite unhygienic.
Snorkelling was great and the driver/instructors are awesome. However some people had never snorkelled so I think some instructions how to use the equipment could’ve been great. There was also too many of us on the boat it was chaos
Lunch was in this shack in the middle of nowhere and was just a bit gross. There also wasn’t enough food for all of us.
The sightseeing was cool but the driving was sketchy, and I think important to note that nusa penida is a massive tourist trap in itself. The place is incredibly third world, the roads are barely paved but the pictures make it seem blissful and amazing. I honestly don’t think it’s worth the time to get the gram.
The lack of food throughout was concerning - we didn’t get back to Canggu till 7pm, so 13 hours later and all we got fed was lunch. if you do this tour please bring your own snacks, a waterproof bag (as your bags come with you on the snorkel trip and there’s nowhere to put them so they naturally get soaked)
In my opinion - if you really want to snorkel, fork out some more money and do a private/small group. If you just want to see the sights - don’t bother, spend your time seeing something else in Bali.
You’ll also see a lot of these 5 star reviews… are likey from the providers/friends of the tour providers.

First of all, the groups are over crowded, the organiser (El Rey) tries to squash as much people as possible.
Once in the island, you find yourself in a dumpster, there is garbage everywhere, and the meeting point is no different.
After the snorkeling spots they put you in a car and drive over 30 minutes on windy and bumpy roads, to a restaurant. Lunch was gross.
The tour is just 3 stops and are tourist traps, be ready to walk along hundreds of people catching the best selfie or Instagram photo.
I would not do it again, even for free.

It's been about 15 years since we last did a snorkelling tour in Bali, and I must say that we were all disappointed with this experience, on a lot of levels. The sights we visited were great, but you pay for the service and the equipment on tours like this, and for the price you pay, they can afford to invest a little in their equipment and facilities. An actual toilet somewhere would be nice. An actual change room. Perhaps a tub of water to wet your feet when trying on the flippers. Maybe have enough seating area for people. We were crammed onto a tiny boat (every seat was taken), with nowhere to put our bags, and no water offered while we were out on the water. The strap broke off of one of our masks at the first snorkel spot, and that was simply the end of the story for that person. No backup equipment. Seriously.
The island tour featured some great sights, but our driver could not speak any english. That being said, he was friendly, and took lots of pictures for us.
We all left feeling like we were simply processed like livestock, with no thought or care about our actual comfort. Yes, this is Bali, but stop pretending that this is simply the way it is in this part of the word. The guides did their best with what they had. We can see how many people are crammed onto those boats, and it's easy to do the maths. It's a profitable enterprise. You are greedy.

Hi We (4 adults & 2 kids - 11 year olds) want to do the Snorkeling with Manta Bay & Island tour on 27th Oct. We have no prior experience of snorkeling. Is it possible for us to do this tour? We all are vegetarians so will we have veg lunch options in the tour? We are staying in a villa in Ubud so i guess pick up & drop should be fine. Please confirm so that we can make booking. Thanks.
