Meet your host Sudha at her home in Makarpura, Vadodara as she welcomes you with a refreshing and cool glass of Jaljeera/Nimbu Paani (Fresh lime water). You can then head to the kitchen to begin your cooking class. You will learn to make Rajasthani Dal (lentil curry) right from scratch followed by a local Potato Sabji cooked with homegrown masalas and some other dishes. Following this you will also learn to knead and roll your own Roti (Indian Flatbread). Feel free to ask about the use of Indian spices in everyday cooking, post the cooking session, you can sit back relax and enjoy the sumptuous meal with Sudha and her family.
Some of the dishes that may be included in the menu will be Gatte ki Sabzi (Steamed gran flour balls cooked in a creamy sauce), Aloo ki Sabji (Potatoes cooked in a Rajasthani style with local ingredients), Rajasthani Dal (A warm and comforting lentil curry), Baati (Wheat Balls baked in a gas oven dipped in clarified butter before eating). This will be accompanied with Roti (Indian Flatbread), Rice and Chutneys. For Dessert Sudha may serve Churma which is a baked crumb made with wheat and clarified butter, topped with nuts.
Please Note - This is not a professional cooking class but rather an opportunity to cook and dine with a local home-chef. The experience will be as much about the stories around the food and local culture, as it would be about the meal itself.
