Stop: 4 hours - Admission included
Go aboard our minivan to the great TonLe Sap lake (the biggest fresh water lake in South-east Asia) which will give you a fascinating insight of the true Cambodian life. Pick-up from your hotel (please make sure you provide your hotel information at time of booking). Drive may take around 1 hour from Siem Reap to the boat’s pier. You will be invited to ride on a private boat leading to floating village (traditional Khmer floating Village located 30km from Siem Reap). Discover the tall stilted houses, floating hospital, fishery, old lifestyle of the country and the natural landscape of the flooded Mangroves forest. Boat ride lasts around 1h30 – 2 hours and may vary depending on the season. You will be offered to go for a 15 minutes tour through the flooded Mangroves forest on a small boat (is it not included in the price but it only cost 5 USD) which is a great break on your way to TonLe Sap where you will be able to experience local fauna and flora. While your boat will finish its ride on a larger view on the TonLe Sap, you will end your day tour admiring the sunset over the lake.

Worthwhile excursion to discover and understand the daily lives of residents of the floating village and market nearby. During dry season, we access the village by boat but we explore by foot (the water rises starting July, which must be better for the floating village experience). Our guide, Bun, was very friendly and generous in sharing information.
In order to watch the sunset, the tour lasted a hour longer than expected.
Overall it was an eye-opening expérience.

Highly recommend excursion and guide. Vuti (Mr T) is extremely professional and very knowledgeable. He has given us a lot of background information about the life in the village, its people and the local activities. We could explore the floating village, speak with the residents and walk through the coastal settlements getting a first hand experience of this unique place. It has been an unforgettable day.

This tour provides an excellent glimpse into the lives of traditional Cambodians living outside the major tourist centers.

If you are considering different tours of the floating villages, this is the one you want. The majority of the money from your ticket goes to the local people, and the boats are wholly owned by villagers. Our guide, Thy, thoughtfully and comprehensively answered our nonstop questions about the village, it’s social and economic situation, and Cambodian life in general. Overall this was an incredible experience that contrasted very well with the lights and modernity of Siem Reap. I think seeing life in this village is just as important as seeing Ankor Wat.

If you’re staying in Siem Reap, which is fairly westernized in places for the benefit of tourists, then I’d recommend this tour if you’d like to get a very different view of life in Cambodia. The drive out to Tonle Sap is very pretty, passing rice fields and forests, and the lake itself is huge! I went in the dry season so our boat took us to the village and we took a walk through it, after which we hopped back in the boat and headed out to the open water of the lake. We stopped at a floating restaurant for some drinks, then we headed out further into the lake to catch the sunset. Sen, my guide, was really great- he explained the history of the lake and settlements there and helped me understand local traditions too.

អរគុណច្រើន Sen! and thank you to Angkor Wat Travel Tours for two great experiences during my time in Siem Reap.

By American standards these people are poor - Americans are a poor judge of standards. This is a community of generations upon generations who have created a life around this fishing village - they depend upon the changing seasons and their relationship with it. They are not unknown to modern technology as TV antennas and Solar panels can be seen. We found the people to be comfortable in their life - so different from ours in the USA. So glad to have experienced it.

We booked on the day and we’re promptly picked up by Adam at 2.30 for a 5 hour tour ending after sunset. Adam was a great guide and very knowledgeable, with solid English. He took a lot of pictures of us and shared them after the trip. The highlight was the boat trip out to a floating restaurant and crocodile farm to watch the sunset over the water. The water levels were low due to it being end of dry season but it’s still very interesting and you can imagine what it is like with the water 8 metres higher! Thanks guys for a great trip.

Though it’s dry season, it’s still interesting to see the floating house. The guide was willing to share his view of his country. I hope his country can be prosperous as well.

We just finished our tour with Adam - he was super friendly and gave us a lot of info!! It is now dry season so we were able to walk around the houses and such. It is still very beautiful. Had a great time seeing the village, and even got to speak to the school children which was the highlight of the trip! Definitely would recommend. Thank you very much for the tour :)
