A great tour through the countryside
We decided to take the "Off the beaten track" tour and had a great experience. We went through the countryside and villages, got in touch with the friendly people of Cambodia and learned some interesting things about the life in Cambodia. The bikes are well maintained and we had no issues with them. Sophear was a great guide, who spoke good English and was excited to answer our questions. I would recommend it again :)

Great experience in Cambodian countryside by bike
We had a wonderful trip. Our tour guides Huylang and Sophea were very pleasant, patient and kind. They explained everything we asked. Their level of English was also very good. They also helped as translators with local people which was great.

Beautiful tour in Kampot - loved it!
We loved the tour with Pheap in Kampot. He brought us to places we would have never found ourselves! We have not seen a single other tourist along the way, which to us just felt amazing! Pheap was very knowledgeable and gave us so much insight into the sites he showed us and explained a lot about Cambodia and their culture. We can highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants an authentic experience, get active, eat freshly made noodles from a local restaurant in the countryside of Kampot and enjoys some time away from the big touristic sites. The bikes were in great shape and water was provided along the way! There was nothing we didnt like about this tour!

      A nice temple ride
We had a great day with our tour guide Yat. We cycled to the Bayon Temple through forest trail which was really exciting to us. We were deeply impressed by the trail as this was the first time that we had such cycling experience. The village we passed by was very rural which we could not encounter in the city. Yat had clear instruction on the road traffic and also allowed us to adequate time to rest as weather was hot. He also gave us detailed information about the mission of the company and the Bayon Temple. Thank you very much Wat for giving us such an unforgettable experience!

      Afternoon countryside cycle tour.
Our guide, Vireak was very knowledgeable about the area and Cambodia in general. He also took photos for us and sent them on. This was an easy level ride and we were actually out for 5hrs visiting local life, markets, basket making and a pottery business. The bikes were easy to ride and looked brand new and they also supplied helmets. Most of the ride was on flat but bumpy dirt tracks through fields but there was some busy road work. We had a great time, our legs didn't ache the next day even after 5hrs! We hope to do another one if we have time at our next stop. Thanks Vireak, we had a great time.

      Sunrise at Angkor Wat
Highly recommend to have Half Day tour which starts in cycling to witness a magnificent sunrise above Angkor Wat temple. In complete darkness the day begins with a crowd gathering in front of the pond to observe mirror reflection of the temple in the water. Visiting temples, biking through villages, observing Cambodian life - all worth to experience. Few stops on the way to have a snack & water/coconut to recharge batteries as biking and walking in the heat might be challenging. Envy those who are yet to try the experience.

      Really nice afternoon cycling
As the other reviews, this is a must for anyone who wants to get away from tourists, exercise and learn/see some amazing sights. Wonderful what these guys are doing, giving something to people who need it most. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon cycling around and would recommend to anyone.

Visiting National Park Bokor, Kampot, Cambodia
Very exciting tour on mopeds to Bokor via busy roads in Kampot, where some riders are traveling opposite the traffic. You just need to switch on your instincts and follow the instructor, who really cares and looking after you. Thank you, Sam:) Fantastic views from the top of mountain to Cambodia, Phu Quoc, watching the lake on the top of mountain and beauty of the nature gives you peace, relaxation and williness to come back. If you are limited with time, it is one of the best ways to explore Cambodia. Sam and his team are really care about you and providing a lot of of details about local life Highly recommended.

      Best kept secret of Angkor
Biking the temples with Butterfly Tours was the best activity we did in Cambodia! Avoid the crowds, get off the beaten path through the jungle. Our 6 and 9 year old loved “templing” on their bikes. Our guides were so patient with the kids. At the temples, the guides were so knowledgeable. I was impressed in their professionalism, extremely high level of knowledge and ability to tailor the tour to the needs of our family. Butterfly tours bike tours of the temples are the best kept secret in Cambodia!

      Excellent fun on bikes
Intriguing ride through villages to the temples. Our guide, Vireak, took fantastic care of us on the bikes and provided very informative commentary. Only suggestion would be providing a little more time exploring the temples. Extremely friendly and welcoming team - keep up the great work!!

We booked our bike tour through Trip Advisor with Butterfly Tours. This group of young students have a very good community support and environmental initiative in running their small company. Our guide ‘Vong’ was hilarious and spoke excellent English. The tour begin with a 7:30am hotel pickup via tuk tuk and the tour itself started from their shop around 9am and finished around 1pm. We rode along pathways and sideroads with beautiful countryside scenery along the way. We visited the Three Centers Market, a farmers market that gathers 3 times a take where local farmers gather to exchange fresh produce, fish, meats, and small goods. It was lovely to see the true hard working Cambodians and get a glimpse into their daily lives. We also visited a family that does basket weaving. The government finds an expert weaver in each district and pays them to train all the wives to become expert weavers. This process allows families to derive additional income and passes along an age old skill. Prices for rice, baskets, etc. are set by the ‘middle-man’ who gathers the items up for export out of the country. The farmers and artisans then are all paid the same amount regardless of their negotiating ability. But the highlight of the tour was the visit to the local distillery where they made rice wine! It was a basic process of distilling but the final product, infused with herbs, was quite tasty. In fact, to my untrained pallet it rivalled the best bourbon from Kentucky. It was strong at 50% alcohol but very tasty! They told us that mothers of new borns are given a shot of this whisky every day to help with their recovery. Not sure how that worked into the breastfeeding though.

Well organized, quick respons by mail and WhatsApp, free pickup and return to hotel. Bikes were in good condition and our guide Mengchou could tell us a lot about the surroundings, the different craftworks and many more. This biking tour is a great idea if you like to do active and adventurous activities. It was very fun and informative. The group was able to bike through the dirt roads and see how people live along the countryside, all while getting to some of the temples. It was also very nice seeing the sunset from our vantage point. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, letting us take some rest breaks and providing us with water, mango, and watermelon. This trip is not for the faint of heart. The ride wasn’t too long (approx 10 km each way) but we were all definitely sweating. The terrain can be hilly and rough and took some getting used to riding ( I’m only used to biking in the city with a road bike). The company provided helmets and good fitting mountain/hybrid bike with large tires for the dirt. My only suggestion is to for all the bikes to have their own flashlights as it got pretty dark on the way back. Only the group leaders had some. Hopefully by the time you read this, they will have updated their bikes.

Our family of 5 did “Off the Beaten Track” Tour. We visited a village market, a basket weaver at her home, a rice paddy field, a rice wine maker, and a ceramic piggy bank maker. This tour was a great way to see how the Cambodian people live, learn about their economy, interact with locals, all the while biking 21km. We tried the rice wine and enjoyed some local fruit. While we realize it may not be an accurate picture of the entire population, it got us closer to the local culture than had we just gone to the temples. Our tour guide, Vong, had great English, was quite knowledgeable of Cambodia’s history and economy, and was passionate about his country.

We booked the 'Off the Beaten track' tour after searching around for something a bit less touristy, and had an amazing morning. Vireak, our guide, was so knowledgeable, helpful and funny. The whole tour is along very quiet and safe roads and it doesn't take long to reach the beautiful countryside. Everyone you meet is very friendly and it is so great that the company contributes to all the businesses you stop at, as well as helping students through their studies. We can't recommend this company highly enough, there is nothing that I could suggest to improve the experience. Thank you so much Vireak for a wonderful experience!
