Full-Day Tour of Chernobyl and Prypiat from Kiev
US$111.00
Overview
Visiting Chernobyl, the nuclear power plant whose 1986 explosion was one of the world’s worst radio-ecological disasters, isn’t permitted unless by guided tour. This full-day trip from Kiev offers a hassle-free excursion and the essential commentary needed to understand the site and its catastrophic event. Explore the Chernobyl exclusion zone, and visit abandoned nearby towns, including Pripyat. Dinner at an eco-clean canteen is also included for your convenience.
What to Expect
Board an air-conditioned bus in central Kiev with a guide and travel to Chernobyl while watching documentaries about the 1986 disaster. Compulsory insurance and a radiation meter to use on your visit are included.

On arrival, enter the Exclusion Zone via the Dytyatky gate, and pass the abandoned villages of Zalissya and Kopachi, and the decontaminated Red Forest, the first victim of the radioactive fallout.

Visit the derelict town of Pripyat, seeing the hospital that received the firefighters and workers affected by the explosion, and the town hall, fire station, Polissya hotel, and the never-opened amusement park.

Take a guided tour of the plant, seeing the Sarcophagus and New Safe Confinement arch from observation points, plus the fire station, cooling towers, and Soviet radar station.

Finally, visit Chernobyl town and have an eco-clean dinner at a canteen for exclusion zone workers before your tour ends in central Kiev.

My husband and I had a great time on this tour. We watched a Discovery Channel special on the bus on our way, which really helped illustrate the disaster. Alexandra conducted the first half of our tour, and she was knowledgeable and well-spoken. We spent...More

Yes. It is safe. Actually you will observe less radiation than a flight from London to New York. Just pay attention to the instruction!
