About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Mathias R0 contributions10/10Christian and his friend picked me up at my hotel at 7:30 am and we started a 3 hour drive to Bran Castle. Felt safe and confortable the whole journey and both guys were very cool. After 1 hour we went to Brasov where I had lunch and stayed for another hour to get to know the city. Then our last stop was in Peles Castle (currently under restauration) for some photos. While coming back jn Bucarest, we passed through some atractions on the way and they explained some history. At 17:15 I was back to my hotel. Totally worth it, especially Bran Castle. I recommend this tour to anyone who wants a more private and confortable experience and do like to travel and visit on your own rhythm. I was a solo traveler and booked the two mininum tickets. 100% in English. Tip: have a quick lunch in Brasov so you have enough time to go to the white tower.Written 26 February 2025
- joannef5530 contributionsGreat trip but made to purchase tickets again by staff at Bran CastleOur guide was absolutely fabulous and very knowledgeable. Nothing was too much for him. The only problem we encountered was the staff at the castle who insisted that we purchased tickets despite me saying we had already bought them as part of our package. Be warned that the slope up to the castles are very slippery so do make sure you use shoes with good grip.Written 8 December 2024
- C9314ZQphilg0 contributionsGreat time!Excellent tour. Claudio did a great job getting us to where we were going, making sure we got inside the attractions QUICKLY and recommending a fantastic place to have lunch.Written 23 November 2024
- Letitia P0 contributionsPerfect trip!Cristian was amazing. He changed up the trip to best suit our desires…we had a wonderful day visiting Vlad the Impaler’s tomb, Bran Castle, the Transfiguration Hwy (both sides!), and Vlad’s actual fortress!! We even saw foxes and a bear!!❤️Written 25 October 2024
- pcipriano930 contributionsTransylvania Castles and Day Trip a great snapshot into RomaniaThe trip to Bran Castle, Peles Castle and Brasov was a great way to experience the history and countryside of Romania. The Peles Castle is partially shrouded for construction which was disappointing but the interior is breathtaking woodwork, glassworks, etc. The Bran Castle has a few exhibits reflecting the Dracula story but is really a nice reflection of the history of this Castle. Brasov was delightful town with medieval buildings and an extensive pedestrian street with shops and restaurants outdoors despite the nippy October weather. Try the amazing dessert--papanosh (with sour cream and jam). My guide, Diana, was excellent--wiling to share history, reflections and cultural insights during the drive. Be prepared to spend a minimum of 12 hours. The windy mountain roads and heavy traffic make the drive quite long especially on the weekends but it is a great getaway. The advantage of having a guide is being able to not wait in lines for tickets and some tours.Written 23 October 2024
- stephc0 contributionsThe best way to see Transylvania!Hands down, this is the way to travel to Transylvania! Christian (and Christina) picked us up from our hotel promptly at 7:30 and we headed out to Peles Castle. We enjoyed talking to them on the drive and learning more about Romania. We arrived at Peles and Christian walked us in, showed us our meeting spot, and walked us to the ticket booth to help get our tickets. This was the same every stop. We could spend as much or as little time at each destination as we wanted (we were slower in Peles but quicker at Bran). Lunch was on our own in Brasov, which gave us time to eat and explore at our own pace. By the time we left Bran, other tour buses were just arriving. It was a long drive back to Bucharest, but it would have been even longer on that big bus. When you sign up for a Transylvania tour, be prepared for a long day. We made it SO much more enjoyable by doing a private tour (and got back hours earlier). The van was roomy, comfortable, and can fit 6. And our guides were amazing! Definitely worth the extra cost!Written 16 October 2024
- dbf19720 contributionsA great way to visit sites in the Romanian countrysideOur guide picked us up at our hotel , on time, and in a clean and comfortable car. we spent the driving time talking with him about Romania, the people and some history and the drive to the country passed by quickly. In addition to touring Count Vlad’s castle we stopped at Peles (which was being renovated, so we could not enter) and then had time for some shopping in Brasov as well as lunch. A great day with a great guide.Written 8 October 2024
- dbf19720 contributionsA great day tour to the Black SeaOur guide, Claudiu, was prompt, friendly and considerate. His car was comfortable and very clean. Although it was a long drive from Bucharest to Constanta, we enjoyed the ride and conversation, learning a lot about Romania.. Claudiu allowed us to determine which sites we wanted to see and suggested a great cafe for lunch. I would definitely recommend touring with Yolo Tours.Written 29 September 2024

- Relax453847384650 contributionsFantastic trip and guide (Cristian) highly recommendFirstly, a big thank you to Cristian who looked after us very well. He commenced commentary from the get go, pointing out different buildings and lots of story telling on the way. He gave us plenty of time to explore Bran castle, called ahead to find out how busy places were so he could do the sights in reverse. Well done, we skipped the crowds. Next stop Brasov for lunch, again plenty of time then on to Peles castle. We’re weren’t sure about visiting the castle, but we trusted his judgement and so glad we did. All stops 100% worth it, I will be recommending to my friends.Written 10 November 2023
- A7055EXsarahw0 contributionsCastles in Transylvania and BrasovDidn’t get off to a good start, picked up a message the evening before we were due ti leave, that the trip would start at 10.30 (rather than 7.30 am) due to a road closure. Who knows if this was true? Bearing in mind this was supposed to be a 12 hour tour, travelling 3 1/2 hours to the first destination, my husband and I were worried that the 3 visits on the itinerary would be rushed, considering sunset around 6.30 pm. Our guide messaged to say that it wouldn’t affect our itinerary. We ended up doing the tour ‘back to front’, which wasn’t a problem, it’s just he didn’t mention this until we had nearly arrived at the first destination. We did feel a bit rushed (although he kept saying we could take all the time we needed), but we knew we needed to get around quickly to fit in the other two visits whilst it was light. There were big road queues when we left Peles castle, which obviously was not our guides fault, but made us later to Bran castle. In Peles, we only had a ticket for the ground floor, we hadn’t been offered the opportunity to visit the other 2 floors, but there wouldn’t have been time anyway. We again felt the need to rush our tour because of the time/light. Both castles were amazing, but we had expected a tour guide as we had paid for a private tour, not just a driver, but we were left largely to our own devices to self guide ourselves inside the castle. Our next stop was Brasov, again beautiful, but arrived very late in the afternoon. Our driver was just going to drop us off and arrange to meet us later, when I reminded him that our itinerary included a walking tour. He willingly spent 20 mins or so with us and had some great knowledge on the town to share and then arranged to meet us 30 mins later. Our drive back to Bucharest was something of a white knuckle ride to say the least, it was beyond scary. Too fast on non highway roads in residential areas, whilst our drives was talking on his mobile phone frequently, one call lasted about 20 mins. Not sure what the laws are in Romania about using mobiles whilst driving (that aren’t hands free), but it’s not safe and a distraction. At one point in Brasov, the driver was taking a photo on his mobile, whilst driving, when my husband shouted look out… which stopped us rear ending the car in front. Ironically he told us he was driving his kids to the coast the next day, which he could reach in a couple of hours, but would drive more slowly than he usually does as he would have his kids in the car. He was a nice guy, but more a driver (fast) than a tour guide. When you’re spending this kind of money on a private tour, with entrance fees on top, you would expect more. We had a small group (7) tour the next day, the Transfagarasan road to see wild bears, the guide was knowledgable, safe driver, kept us informed of everything, quite a contrastWritten 22 October 2023
- T5518FHtimothyw0 contributionsCastled out, but good to see more of the country.Although we found Bran Castle a relative disappointment, we did enjoy getting out of Bucharest and seeing some countryside. Pele Castle was much more interesting than Bran Castle. Our driver, Claudio, was accommodating and took us on an alternate route back, visiting the site of the Ceaucescu’s execution. We appreciated the alternate site visit. Claudio is a skilled driver, if a bit fast and fearless. Our taxi ride from the airport was similar, so perhaps that’s driving in Romania.Written 13 October 2023
- OnAir048548856380 contributions4 day private tourMy wife and I just finished this tour. Gabriel was our private driver and guide .He did a great job of explaining all the information on all the sites we visited. Since we were a group of two he was able to take his time telling the story of each site. We were never rushed and it was nice to be given a private tour instead of being in a large group. We were very comfortable with Gabriel's driving and his meal recommendations were great. The hotels were in walking distance to the city center and all the restaurants. I would highly recommend this tour.Written 12 October 2023

The visit to Peles Castle was the highlight of our tour but I also enjoyed our stay in Brasov city. The Hotel Bella Muzica was fantastic and situated at a great location, but has no lift, and it maybe uncomfortable to carry big luggage upstairs. Cristian, our guide is an amazing person, very knowledgeable guide, excellent and responsible driver. We also enjoyed eating at his suggested eateries. He's sure is an asset to the company he works for.

Can't recommend this tour highly enough, we had a fabulous two days.
We were collected from our hotel promptly by our guide Gabriel. Throughout the two days Gabriel provided a thorough commentary on where we visited and also along the journey. Bran Castle is worth visiting but you'll be disappointed if you think Dracula will be there! Peles castle is far superior.
The hotel we stopped in at Brasov was excellent and located in an ideal position to visiting the old town, which is beautiful.

This was my first private tour, and I've been travelling Europe for the last eight months. The pick up and drop off at the apartment I'd rented was super convenient. My guide, Gabriel, was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I learned more about Romanian history in two days than I thought possible, but without getting bored. Gabriel was flexible and we were able to make adjustments to the itinerary based on weather and things I was interested in. In two days we covered Bran, Brasov, Rasnov and Prejmer, but at a pace that was both comfortable and enjoyable, and allowed for ample free time to enjoy Brasov in the evening.
The hotel in Brasov (Bella Muzica) was clean with excellent service, and all of the meals Gabriel suggested throughout the tour were delicious.
I will definitely contact UnZip Romania again to design a custom tour the next time I'm in Romania. Multumesc Gabriel for sharing your country with me!

This is a top notch company with great employees that you can trust. We planned to stay close to a week in Bucharest and reached out to them several weeks before we left to organize a couple tours. Diana was super helpful answering all our questions, getting the tours reserved and even sent us our confirmations so we felt prepared. We booked two private tours: 2 Day tour of Transylvania and a full day tour of Bulgaria. Our guide for all 3 days was Gabriel and he was fantastic. He was a professional guide and extremely knowledgeable on all elements of history, culture and religion and was also from Romania and had a deep respect for the country that he wanted to pass on. He was also our driver and the transport was a mini-bus that was very clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Both our tours were fantastic and I’ll share a little about both:
-2 Day tour of Transylvania. This was the highlight of our trip. We were picked up at our hotel at 0730 and began our journey towards Brasov. The great thing about a private tour is that the itinerary is customizable and you must remember that some sites are closed on certain days. We spent a fair amount of time driving and in the morning we visited a large fortification in Rasov that was amazing. Early afternoon we went to a ski resort for lunch that had a spectacular mountain view of Bran castle. This was key because when you visit the castle there aren’t many vantage points to offer you good photos of the entire castle. We visited the castle after lunch and time to explore afterwards – it was an amazing medieval castle also called Dracula’s castle. After that we made our way to Brasov and had a 1 hour walking tour of the village where Gabriel showed us the Black Church and several other sites. As part of the cost of the tour our hotel in Brasov was included at the Bella Muzica which is right on the main square perfectly located. There Gabriel took his leave and we spent the night at the restaurants and bars and returned to the hotel later. The hotel is very historic and perfect for a 1 night stay. Gabriel then picked us up in the morning and we headed out to visit a couple different sites including a fortified church and a monastery. The main site the second day was Peles Castle which was an amazing fully restored castle that used to be the summer residence for royalty. It is absolutely beautiful and we spent much time touring it and learning its history from Gabriel. We were then returned to our hotel in Bucharest that evening. This tour company also will do a 1 day castle tour where you see both Bran and Peles castles in 1 day, but I highly recommend the 2 day tour so you can enjoy yourself, see more of Transylvania and stay overnight in Brasov which is a beautiful little town.
-Full day Bulgaria: My wife and I had never been to Bulgaria and wanted to see it while we were so close. Gabriel picked us up in our hotel early morning and we drove to the border to go through customs. It took us about a little over an hour to drive to the border and then about 45 minutes to go through customs due to all the truck driver traffic. From there we went to see a monastery that was carved into the side of a mountain. This is a UNESCO heritage site and was very beautiful. TIP – bring mosquito spray! From there we went Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria’s old medieval capital to see the ruins of the old city, fortress and a beautiful church overlooking the town. This was amazing and also involved a fair amount of walking. Separately we also stopped an ancient church that was made to look like a barn to hide it’s true nature while Bulgaria was occupied hundreds of years ago. After a great day of touring Gabriel drove us back through customs (only took 10 minutes coming back) and dropped us at the hotel. This was about a 12 hour day and well worth it.
Overall we had an amazing time. The tours made for great photos and we learned so much from Gabriel about the history of these countries that it was well worth the time. We highly recommend this company and especially these tours.

We had only 3 days to see the highlights of Transylvania, visit the Bear Sanctuary and sights of Bucharest. Diana was extremely helpful and patient and helped us plan our dream 3-day trip, which enabled us to see everything we wanted in such a short trip. She combined different tours for us, which all worked out great. Christian picked us up from the airport to transfer us to our hotel and had animated stories to tell. The next morning Lucian picked us up and we started our road trip. He English was very good and he knew a lot about the history of not only the places we visited, but also about the country. Even though we experienced some rain and was unable to travel with the cable car in Brasov due to the rain, it did not deter of any of the trip or fun we had. At the end of our trip, Lucian dropped us off at the airport and sadly our trip was over. Diana is an absolute gem.

Great trip and Cristian our guide was simply excellent! He was so knowledgeable, caring, considerate and fun to share our 2 days visiting Transylvania! We had such a great time with him, and will always remember our time in Romania with him! We also felt very safe too, particularly having Cristian as our driver navigating the crazy traffic! When we come back some day, we’ll be sure to contact him and share fun times again! Thank you!

My husband and I recently joined two friends for this two day private tour. Christian was our tour guide and was absolutely wonderful. He was prompt, friendly and very knowledgeable about history and the area. Most importantly he shared with us what life in Romania is like. I highly recommend this tour.

My partner and I had only three days to see some of Romania before we needed to return to Bucharest. Everything was organised with Diana before we left Australia and it all worked seamlessly from there. Our guide, the incredibly knowledgeable and friendly Lucian met us at our hotel in Bucharest at 7.30am on the first day. We instantly felt comfortable with him – we were all swapping stories and laughing even before we'd left the city limits. First stop was Peles Castle, a beautifully preserved 19th century castle built by the first king of Romania. This was the highlight of our Transylvania tour – Lucian gets you there early enough to avoid the crowds and the extended tour is really worth it, particularly to see the former royal family's more private quarters.
After this, we drove through the mountains to Brasov, a lovely small city, where we ate a traditional lunch near the market square and sipped Romanian plum brandy. Lucian organised our accommodation at a boutique hotel in the centre of town, and after lunch we just did our own thing. We had a great time exploring the old town and catching the cable car to the top of the nearby mountain.
Next day Lucian took us to the incredible Rasnov Fortress to learn some more about Romanian history and take in the magnificent views from the top. After this we went to the famous Bran Castle. Lucien warned us it would be crowded and it was... we shuffled through its rooms in a long line of people and there wasn't that much to see on the inside (no original furniture, for example). On reflection, it is the exterior that is most imposing and I would recommend avoiding the crowds and just taking in the castle from the park at the bottom and then going to get to some lunch!
On our way home, and just out of Bucharest, we stopped off at a small monastery on an island (legend has it that Vlad the Impaler is buried there). This was not necessarily on the list of things to do on the tour but Lucian suggested it as a low-key substitute for the Sinaia Monastery (we were a bit too tired to take that one in).
I absolutely recommend UnZip Romania to anyone wanting to enjoy the beautiful scenery and historic buildings in Transylvania, learn about Romanian history and culture, eat delicious local food and above all, spend time with a great guy. Thanks for the experience!

We had a fantastic tour with our guide Gabriel. He really made the trip special doing the inside tours himself instead of handing us off to the groups. Made a world of difference. He is extremely knowledgeable of Romania at all levels. I can highly recommend him and would request him if ever booking another tour. This company obviously only hires the best.

Hey my fiancée and I would love to book this for our honeymoon. I saw that peles castle is closed on mondays. If we did the tour on Monday to Tuesday which would be our only available time would we still get to see peles?

This tour sounds wonderful. There's no mention of the transport. I'd like to know how you traveled around Romania (private car I'd guess),did Gaby provide the transport and was that included in the price? Thank you!
