About the operator
- James M00The only reason to go is everything....So, you only see places like Malamala island in magazines...until you find yourself there. I booked this on a whim and it was the best $80 or so I've ever spent. I'd say the same thing at twice the price. The beaches, the service, the food, the drinks, and the serenity were next level.
- Coupesters00Best way to spend the day!I visited Malamala with a friend and we had the most amazing day, we didn't want to leave. We were after a day of R&R, cocktails and some good tunes. Malamala did not disappoint! We pre-booked a poolside day bed for the two of us, towels we're waiting for us on arrival and our lovely butler Amelia looked after us for the day. She was always easy to reach and made us delicious cocktails all day. Highly recommend the 5 x cocktail deal! We can't wait to come back, thank you for your hospitality Amelia.
- Maps4922654648700Malamala is an absolute mustWe loved malamala beach club we had a cabana which is a must I feel especially with kids. The ride over wad a catamaran with plenty of room for all passengers. There is also an infinity pool and plenty of tables and chairs. You can hire snorkeling gear but we took our own. Reef shoes are a must as the sand is broken up coral. If we went again we would go for a full day we enjoyed it so much.
- C6250JVjamesm00Really nice experienceTook the boat out to Mulamula Island. Really nice trip on board air conditioned high speed catamaran. The Island itself is quite small and a breeze to walk around in 20 or so minutes. The staff were friendly and we had our own cabana. Really extraordinary beach and nice to swim in. I recommend some reef shoes though as the coral can be sharp to walk on. This was an excellent experience and well worth the costs. I thoroughly and enthusiastically recommend it.
- donnarD4995MN00a must do in fiji!we had the best day at malamala we had a grand cabana it was like our own private beach everything was so well maintained the food was amazing drinks were delicious the only mistake we made was only doing half day we didnt want to leave!!!!
- Joanne L00Do ItJust go, it’s a beautiful environment, on a coral Atoll away from your resort. Half day is perfect. The food is beautiful, the drinks are delicious and the water is crystal clear. All water activities are included, paddle boards, snorkelling, kayaking and jetty jumping. Nice coral and plent of blue starfish and rays.
- Lucie L00A piece of paradiseThis tour was the highlight of my trip to Fiji. I did the half day but you can also do a full day. The staff on this secluded island was amazing as was the food and drinks. Well worth it.
- Swedishtomcat00Daytime resortThis daytime resort is wonderfully relaxing. There’s a bar, restaurant, infinity pool, showers and changing rooms plus free use of watersports equipment such as kayaks, SUPs and snorkelling gear. My friend got uncharacteristically annoyed with me when I eventually turned up on an SUP when all he wanted to to was go snorkelling with me on the reef!
- 743meekk00The perfect dayWe arrived on a morning flight and wanted to spend the day on an Island. The food was delicious and the staff was so friendly. Don’t waste your money on cocktails at Port Denarau, go to Malamala and spend a full day on the Island.
- 268nza00Luxurious Getaway in FijiI highly recommend the Malamala Beach Club for anyone looking for a luxurious island getaway. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and there's plenty to do and see to keep you entertained. A huge thank you to Remi and the rest of the staff for making our trip one to remember!
- Go0507498796600Great Time OutGreat check in by Lola and followed by our Energetic waiter Sake and with the lovely drinks served by Drixx and Mouthwatering meals by Chef Ashneel and Sanjay. Great place to take our family and enjoy the sun . Thank you team malamala ❤️
- boylie201700A very pleasant day outA short boat trip (30 Minute) then a glorious day at the beach. We paid extra for a Grand Cabana (Waiter Service) and it was worth it. Take plenty of sunscreen and give yourself a day of sun, sand and water.
- UrbanAngel199000This is a must to when your in FijiThis island is beautiful! Crystal clear waters with lots of sealife, snorking, cayaking and amazing food and drinks, the staff are lovely and accomodating, if your in Fiji this place is a must!
- pmbmcook00Malamala Island, Thank you Simon and My Fiji!My wife and I went to Malamala island on Monday December 5 with Simon from my Fiji group. He was a fantastic host throughout the day. He made sure we were comfortable well looked after and having a good time. The snorkelling was incredible, food, delicious, and the hosts on the island were fantastic. There was plenty of shade and seating with an unbelievable infinity pool. I highly recommend you visit Malamala Island and if you’re lucky enough to have Simon as your host even better.
- alexbE6727RT00Saki made our visit extra amazingMalamala is a fun and relaxing experience that is definitely worth trying if you visit Fiji. We were looked after by saki, who made our experience even better! He was friendly, funny and always around to help! The cocktails were amazing, I recommend trying the naked lady and the drunken coconut!

Waste of money. Went for our 20th wedding anniversary paid $671FJ approx. $550AUD to sit on a beach. Paid for a Beachside Grand Cabana, located on the quieter side of the island. They come complete with butler service, lounging mattresses, bean bags and beach chairs. Only to check in and be told we over paid by $165FJ to go towards food and beverage, however, get to the island & 2 hours later, 3 different Cabanas, not even sure if we received what we paid for IS NOT as advertised. Quieter side of the island…shared with 35 other people…DO NOT spend extra money or waste your money to go to this so called private, exclusive adults only resort. In the end it cost $732FJ a lot of money for 5hours. Check out the photos for what $732FJ gives you. DISGRACEFUL.

Oh wow. This place does not disappoint. Went during month of June with friends to celebrate a birthday. From the moment we stepped on the island to the time when we had to leave we all felt like kings and queens on our own little tropical paradise. We were fortunate to secure a cabana with a butler overlooking the ocean and right next to the infinity pool. The big bonus was that there was no charge for this unlike other cabanas which you can prebook at varying prices prior to departure. Our butler Sake did not disappoint. He was friendly and serviced our food and beverage needs well. We participated in snorkelling near the jetty which wasn’t too bad. I’d recommend however taking one of the smaller vessel trips out to a reef further from shore as it may be better. Not much coral close to shore, the occasional fish and lots of broken and dead coral. Water was warm but strong current and waves. Food was tasty and fresh. We ordered slider burgers for lunch and a bucket of beer for $50FJD. Spent most of our time in the infinity pool and lazing under the umbrella. Trip over and back was quick and minimal bumps along the way. Highly recommend and value for money too,

I have been going to all the islands here for over 20 years, I thought I would try closer new one for a full day trip but ended up jumping back earlier as what they call sea lice is actually small jelly fish babies and they were in the water and No one told us until too late. 9 yr old was stung all over his body from neck to knees and then had reaction with 3d welts.
Annoying thing was that after it happen they were saying oh yeah sea lice, just need to swim at high tide. People selling the tickets at south sea cruises should have given us a heads up. It wasn't just our experience multiple families at the same time got told the same.
Don't get me wrong really nice island and activities with nice food but all they had to do was advise people on the jelly fish.

We came to Fiji for my wife's 40th birthday. She has always wanted a pool party but having a June birthday, this has never been possible in Australia so we spent her birthday at Malamala. Our group arrived as families and couples but made up around 20 people in total. Once we found a big enough spot on the sand where we could drop our things for the day we headed up for lunch. Staff were always friendly and incredibly accommodating when they saw us trying to work out how we were going to arrange ourselves for lunch. They rearranged tables so we could all sit together. Between us we had a variety of food and drinks and there were nothing but rave reviews from our group. We brought everyone from children to adults and there was plenty for everyone to do all day. We especially liked the tab system.
The only negative was the kayaking (but this wasn't the fault of the staff or tour). I took 2 x 10 year olds around the island where we all had a kayak each. About half way around, the current became a little too strong for the kids to paddle through so they had to leave their kayaks on shore and walk around. I ended up taking mine back and going back for one but the recreation staff member saw no problem in collecting the third one (and paddling back with ease).
Overall, would highly recommend as a day tour!

The short boat trip out to the island was packed with people being dropped at other islands. Not obvious how to escape the cabin.
We’re greeted on the island by a man with a sign for pre-booked cabanas. If you were expecting Nick Nack private butler service, you got Nick but not Nack.
Private butler service spasmodic.
SUP use did not open until 2pm, to coincide with the afternoon wind and waves. Peculiar and not helpful to someone who wanted to give this activity a go.
SUPs were all small, some missing fins with broken paddles.
The good news is, if you want seclusion, the private beach cabana was lovely. We were not subject at all to the goings on around the pool and bar area.
A nice touch was being brought a cool minted towel to refresh after lunch. A nicer touch would have been a beach shower next to every private cabana.
Warning: the beach is very sharp coral. You should approach with a pair of old thongs on. Or reef shoes, even better!
After a few glasses of personality, also known as Fiji Gold, the madding crowds became maddening. They were full on during the trip back to port.
It is unclear to me whether Malamala wants to be the party island or the exclusive day escape.
All in all, an enjoyable day but I would not go back unless I was in a beach cabana.
Of the two day trips I took in Fiji on this holiday, Sabre wins hands down.

Thanks for your review and this will be passed on to our General Manager, as you have raised points here that we take very seriously.
We are very open to receiving all types of reviews so that we can be aware of what we need to improve on (and what we do so well, like the cool minted towels).
A beach shower next to every private cabana would be a wonderful luxury to have, however, being such a tiny island, we dont have the luxury of being able to have water on tap (pardon the pun), but we do offer fresh water showers in our bathrooms, so they are available for all visitors.
We are thrilled you also traveled with us on our catamaran Sabre (by South Sea Sailing) and thank you for your review on this product as well.
We do hope to see you again.
Regards

Spent the day at Malamala. Day was lovely, service was great. Recommend water socks as the sand on this island is full of chunky coral and very course. If you have a chance to reserve a cabana, I'd recommend doing so, to not feel rushed to find a chair when getting off the boat. But we didn't have anything reserved and found decent chairs with shade. When getting off the pier, cabanas are mostly to the left of the pier, available lounge chairs have some to the left of the pier, but most are to the right of the pier. However most of the nice sandy beach area to wade into the water is to the left of the pier. After finding a chair, go check in. The boat ride is fairly quick as they use a motorboat to get you there via South Sea, which gives you plenty of time to stay on the island. There are 2 options to leave the island, the early and late boats, both go back to Port Denarau, but the first one is the only one that will have a coach bus if you are staying on the Coral Coast. We misunderstood and thought only the first boat goes to the Coral Coast and not Port. But they both go back into Port Denarau. Nice island, nice staff, nice day.

Just wow! What an island. If I could just spend a week here I would. It's quite small but lots of water activities to keep you busy. The food in the restaurant was great (highly recommend the fish and chips) and all the staff just very happy and chatty. A must see in Fiji!

Having been to a number of Beach Clubs around the Asia Pacific and looking at the pictures online of Malamala i wasnt really blown away. There are a few things in Particular like the lack of effort put into the Architetcure Appeal, Cheap beach Sunbeds and Cabana (Poolside sunbeds were okay thou) looks made me not really wanna spend 150 odd FJd just to visit the place and extras for the Beds Cabanas. But then Again the Islands Beach and snorkel area proved it is indeed worth it. Nice Beaches and water level to swim in. The Pool is Lovely and food n Bev prices are at the prices it should be, not over priced imo. Not enough SUP boards as they are very popular, staff are really welcoming. PS you can use cash to pay at the counter but need a credit card or Visa Debit for deposit.

Lucky you! having had the fantastic opportunity to have been to a number of Beach Clubs around Asia-Pacific.
Being the worlds first Private Island Beach Club we at Malamala Beach Club are very proud of the product we have delivered. While we appreciate your opinion and your architectural knowledge I can assure you and other viewers that we have built to the best that we can given the elements we have to work with on a remote island in the South Pacific that many of our local and International visitors to Fiji can come and enjoy every day.
Your comments are taken on board and passed on to the General Manager of Malamala Beach Club regarding the stand up paddle (SUP) boards.
We do appreciate your honest review and the time you have taken to come and visit - even though the online imagery hadn't quite convinced you, and that you enjoyed our stunning beaches, pool, food and beverages.

Cruisin'Fiji was fully booked so we chose Malamala based on large number of good reviews and a very photogenic advertising shot of the island 'paradise'.
The key issue is that the beach is overwhelmingly slippery rocks or sharp coral 'sand'.
So, while other reviewers have noted that there is nothing to see for snorkellers, getting to/from the water or walking around the island is really the issue. It is absolutely a chore not a pleasure.
Unfortunately we arrived on quite a windy day so the water sports staff would (understandably) not allow the use of SUP's or kayaks. Our options narrowed to using the tiny infinity pool (which was overwhelmed with 'paid upgrade' cabanas), using sun loungers (which we could have done for free at our Denarau hotel), or trying the food (ok, but nothing special!).
Kids enjoyed jumping off the pier.
I'm sure there are many visitors who hoped to quickly put this experience behind them - what a waste of F$500.

Firstly thank you for the compliments regarding our very photogenic shot of our island paradise. It is such a fitting description and majority of our reviews indicate this as you have also mentioned. Vinaka.
Addressing your key issue: "the beach is overwhelmingly slippery rocks or sharp coral 'sand". I'm not really sure how to address this, given that Fiji is a nation of volcanic islands surrounded by coral reefs and the South Pacific Ocean. At low tide nature does produce other beauty such as wonderful volcanic rocks and coral formations that can lead to amazing treasures that we call "marine life" who make such areas their home.
Tides and weather conditions are unfortunately something that none of us can control and with only 10-15 minutes it takes to walk around our little island paradise there will be places that Mother Nature makes a little more challenging than others.
Not sure that your description of our "tiny infinity pool" is correct. For those other reviewers who might be interested, the infinity pool at Malamala Beach Club contains approximately 190,000L of water it is 22 metres in length, almost 8 meters wide. One end of the pool is approximately 1.8 meters in depth. Shallow end approximately 1.4 metres deep.
I'm sorry, if we did not meet all of your expectations, however, we thank you for traveling with us and wonderful that you have created wonderful new memories holidaying with your children particularly the fun they had jumping off the jetty.

We had been out at the islands and were back at Denerau and we were missing the beaches ,nice clear water, and snorkelling so we decided to do a day trip here and ended up doing it twice, because we really enjoyed it and return visitors get a discount, so for our family of 5 (3 teens), this was worth it.
The transfers are all included from your hotel and then the South Seas ferry service, so it is all fairly easy.
You arrive (about 25 minutes by ferry) near a jetty (a really long one) and it is so beautiful! We had good weather, which definately helps, the 2nd time was windy and that made the snorkelling not as good and the water not clear and also rough.
Good weather meant clear waters, with lots of fish and coral, even a reef shark, and a high jump of the jetty, which is super fun!
The food is not included with this day trip, but it is soooo good, particularly the sliders!!
A great pool! Great seating areas, you can pay for more secluded or pool seats, but we didn't think it was necessary. Might be good if you had little childen.
The only thing I would suggest is maybe your own snorkelling gear, their stuff is pretty rubbish. Staff are lovely and happy but maybe need a few more.

Yes they provide everything you need for kayaking paddle boarding or snorkeling. Variety of life jackets sizes were available
We have 6 adults, 3 kids over 3 and 2 kids under 3, there is no option for Infant which supposed to be free of charge?

You can ask this question at the tour desk at denaru marina or at your resort your desk prior to departure. If you are staying at the resort may be easier to pay for a days babysitting which is around $90fjd for 8 hrs

Can anyone who has gotten a Grand Cabana let me know what the beach is like in front of it?
How far is it from the main pool?
Thank you :)

Hi, is a half day trip here enough or too short? Will be travelling with kids aged 3, 4, 5 and 7 and wondering if there’s enough to occupy them all day.

Take a whole day trip. The kids will be entertained throughout the day. Alot to do for a little island.

Why my trip be canceled? I didn’t cancel my trip. I just checked my ticket on phone, and I found out it’s be canceled already, I don’t know why, and I already paid for it. I need know why it’s happen
Is it kid friendly?

The kids would love the beach area and water activities. When we were there I did not see any kids, the vibe was very much "adult" around the pool and bar areas
Hi how can I book the private cabana?

We booked our cabana directly through their website. We were unable to book it via TripAdvisor.
