Malamala Island is situated on a little slice of heaven, just a short 30-minute vessel transfer from Port Denarau. Picture perfect white sands and crystal clear water, like a scene pulled straight from a postcard. Small enough to stroll barefoot around the island in 20 minutes, large enough to feel like your own deserted paradise. Malamala Beach Club is fully equipped with everything you need to switch off, unwind and chill out.

        Snorkeling Heaven
Incredible coral reef snorkeling from stairs at the end of pier or from shore. Just be sure to check the tide tables before you go. We booked the full day and went snorkeling all morning. Low tide was at 1:00pm. If we had booked the half day we would have been very disappointed.

Highlight of our trip to Fiji !
Definitely worth the money ! ( comparing to other island trips it was the cheapest deal) It was the best day of our trip. Such a beautiful island and the staff were so lovely and helpful. Having the infinity pool and the restaurant made our stay even better ! And we enjoyed the snorkelling and the water activities with our 2 boys( 6 and 10 yo) Cant wait to go back to Malamala !

        10/10 would do it again!
From the seamless check-in and transfer to the warm welcome at Malamala Beach Club, the entire experience was truly incredible. This flawless journey is a testament to the genuine warmth and hospitality of Fijian culture. A special shout-out to our host, Jovaka. From the very beginning, he created a personalized and unforgettable experience for our group of five. Despite the many guests, Jovaka remembered each of our names, shared his invaluable knowledge of the island, and expertly guided us towards the best ways to enjoy our stay. He consistently went above and beyond, ensuring we felt pampered and well-cared for. Jovaka's exceptional customer service is both effortless and incredibly welcoming. He is a true asset to the Malamala Beach Club team. I wholeheartedly recommend this idyllic escape to anyone seeking a taste of paradise just a short distance from the mainland. A heartfelt Vinakavaka Levu to Jovaka and the entire team at Malamala Beach Club!

        Amazing day in paradise
We loved this day so much! Best food we had the whole time in Fiji. The water is crystal clear, the snorkeling is amazing and the service was great. We had a cheap massage compared to the rest of Fiji and it was very good. No need to book and pay for a day lounge, there is plenty of beach chairs around the island. We had some under the shade and swam, ate and played the whole day in the paradise!

        Jovaka made our day perfect
We had an amazing day! Jovaka took great care of us and ensured my bucket of drinks always had ice and we had anything we needed. We lazed about, enjoyed the adults only area and had a jump off the Jetty. Had read some terrible reviews before our trip but maybe if these people had Jovaka to look after them they would have had a better time? We loved it and will be back next time we visit Fiji

LAST CRUISE BEFORE THE I DO 👰🏽‍♀️💐💍
We booked our hens party at the STUNNING Malamala Beach Club and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were so lovely ,throughout the booking process (Thank You- Tracey Lee) and team for a seamless express checkin as well & not forgetting Beach Club Manager- Mosese Tukaikeli and to all the crew working on the day of the event itself. You guys were amazing HANDS DOWN!!👏👏 We had a whole private venue to ourselves.Had our own private plunge pool, a male & female washroom, our own sound system and bar exclusively for us. We were even allowed to decorate venue exactly how we wanted, this included biodegradable decos as well as choosing the drinks we wanted , & the food was finger licking good. We also had our hens games planned for the day - I think that was the best part! sooo much fun & lots of space for our group of 27 ladies for our fun filled activities. Everything was just an unforgettable experience for us and our bride and she definitely will not be forgetting the memories we shared on this day. I highly recommend Malamala Beach Club for any event especially if you are planning a Hens day with your girls and gallls😉If you have been on the fence about booking at this beautiful spot, then let this review be the one to change your mind as it is worth every penny!!

        Full day trip
Very clean and beautiful island to visit for the day. The full day is a long day, we got on the boat at 9.30 and left the island at 5.15. I would recommend bringing your own food and drinks and the wait times can be quite long. Other than that it was a great day!

        Tropical bliss!
We had a great day with friends at Malamala. The boat ride was a quick 30mins and then the island and it's staff greet you! To avoid hassles it's good to book a cabana for yourself otherwise the beach is plentiful to laze around on. Food was delicious! And the crystal waters of the sea was nice and warm and so was the pool! Surely a great place to be with friends!

        There are Pros & Cons
The transfer from the resorts seemed easy enough except on the way back the bus was full? Very overwhelming as a family of 5. The port itself was chaotic and setting expectations around this would be helpful. The boat to the island was comfortable and the staff were lovely. Food and drink on the island was terrible. Food cold. Drinks hot. Glad we packed snacks. There is no way to call the concierge when you want something. You rely on them popping in and you being out of the water at the same time. Half day was plenty of time for a family with small children. Wear your water shoes. Lots of broken coral. Didn’t love the unisex toilets. Snorkelling was so much fun except when we went to get the gear no-one was there so we just helped ourselves. It doesn’t seem like gear was washed either. Used items were sitting in a giant tub filled with water under a tap. We had to drag the kayaks up the beach to our cabana to use them and had to return them also. Would recommend the cabanas for shade. When we went to take a picture of the swing there was a giant rope and boat behind it.. completely ruined the picture. The day was too expensive for how disorganised it was.

A beautiful island with friendly staff and delicious food & drinks!
I booked a day bed for the day by the infinity pool, and it was so comfortable, with an amazing view. I was initially worried it might be too noisy there, but that wasn't the case at all. Music played the entire day, but not too loudly, and those using the pool mostly swam quietly and enjoyed the beautiful view. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and I had the most delicious chicken salad there (and a yummy cocktail)! I had planned to paddle board and go snorkelling, but to be honest, the weather was unfortunately not great the day I went. Overcast (which didn't bother me much), but also very windy. It WAS wet season though, so this is not a complaint - just an unfortunate luck of the draw. By the end of the day, I was more than ready to head back. No doubt, on a glorious day, Malamala Beach Club would be a fantastic full day trip, and I would definitely go again.

        Wonderful day of relaxation
Spent the day and rented cabana that came with own “butler”. He was stretched a bit thin, but was kind and…we were on Fiji time anyway. Well worth the price (did directly through their site). Clean place, good food and drink. Beautiful area, clean facilities. Thoroughly enjoyed!

        Tropical Chill!
Malamala Beach Club is located along the Malolo Group. It takes about 25 - 30 minutes to travel from Port Denarau to the island. Upon the arrival, you are greeted with homely welcome by energetic staff. The food is awesome especially the Fijian fish Kokoda and burgers. The service is superb. The moment of love of laughter is when you have your coconut 🥥 drink (bu)while soaking the sun or dipping in the pool overlooking the deep blue 🌊🌊🌊🌊. You will love this experience!!

We paid around $80 each for three of us to spend the day on Malamala, this included the return boat trip which itself was excellent, soaking in the view and the warm air. The island looks like a gem in the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by turquoise ocean and white sand beaches. The facilities are all tidy and the highlight was the staff who were awesome from arrival to departure. Being an atoll the beach is covered in coral so not all that comfortable walking around without appropriate footwear, but the interior of the island is all smooth curated sand and pathways. The pools are small but really there is a huge ocean out there and the restaurant is adequate for light meals at resort prices. Snorkeled, Kayaked and relaxed in the sun grabbing shade as needed under palm trees that are plentiful. Our 9yr old son abandoned us and kept himself occupied most of the day, feeling entirely safe and making company with other kids on the island. Great value day trip, must do if you've never visited an atoll before and are staying on western side of Viti Levu.

Bula Vinaka MartinC6200, Thank you for choosing to cruise with us. It sounds like you had an amazing day at Malamala Island! We are delighted that the trip was of great value, especially with the excellent boat trip offering scenic views and warm ocean air. We are happy that you felt that the island itself is a Pacific gem, surrounded by turquoise waters and pristine white sand beaches. It delights us to read that the facilities were tidy and well-maintained, and that the staff provided awesome service throughout your visit. Walking on the coral beach might have been a bit challenging , please in future bring along appropriate footwear for your comfort. We are happy that you enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking, and relaxing under palm trees and that your 9-year-old son had a blast exploring and making friends with other kids on the island. It also pleases us that you enjoyed the affordable meal in the restaurant which were convenient. Thanks for sharing your fantastic day trip experience and we are looking forward to welcoming you back home to paradise soon. Vinaka

So glad I took a chance and booked this trip. I thought it might be too similar to other island experiences I’ve had in the past, but it was unique. The friendly service really made it stand apart. I was fortunate to have been served my Melrose and Millie (Senemillie). Melrose was patient as I explained a couple of allergies I had when I was ordering my meal and he made sure to pass that along to the kitchen staff, who in turn made the most delicious food I’ve eaten in a long time. From Millie I received a fabulous massage, she checked in about pressure and conveyed genuine care that I was getting the massage my body desperately needed.
The island is beautiful, take the time to wander around and find the sandiest parts of the beach.
About 75 of disembarked the Panther Catamaran after a short, maybe 20-30 minute ride, there was plenty of room for all of us to spread around and explore the island.
There’s also paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkeling included. A+

We had a very disappointing experience with Mala Mala Beach Club through South Sea Cruises during our planned trip to Malamala Beach Club. On the day of our booking, the weather was terrible—pouring rain with no sign of improvement. Anyone familiar with Fiji knows how unpredictable monsoonal weather can be, and with a 19-month-old baby, it simply didn’t make sense to transfer to an island for half a day under such conditions. There’s minimal shelter, and we would have been stuck outside the Club restaurant in the rain, which is not ideal for families with young children.

We held off making a final decision until the last hour, hoping the weather might clear up, but it didn’t. The rain was torrential, not just a light drizzle. Their website explicitly states the tour operates only in good weather, and this clearly wasn’t good weather. Despite this, when we tried to cancel due to the circumstances, South Sea Cruises insisted they couldn’t refund or cancel our trip, citing their terms and conditions.

This left us feeling frustrated and disheartened. We invested a significant amount of money into our Fiji holiday, but this experience soured the entire trip. As a family with two young children, it was entirely unsuitable to proceed, but it seemed our situation didn’t matter to the company. Had we been adults alone, we might have gone ahead, but our children’s well-being took priority.

This experience left us feeling like nothing more than a dollar figure, despite Fiji’s reputation for its family-friendly culture and love for children. Unfortunately, I now regret booking with South Sea Cruises and would not recommend them to others. This lack of understanding and flexibility was disappointing, and we won’t be returning.

Bula Vinaka G2642IYaf, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your recent experiences on Malamala Island. We truly value your feedback and are sorry to hear that the weather did not cooperate on the day of your visit especially when travelling with a 19-month-old. Our reputation for being family-friendly precedes us, and we are committed to upholding it, we are sorry that you did not feel the same on the day. We understand the significant investment you made in your cruise, and we appreciate you choosing to travel with us on the day. Please be advised that all of our cruises are subject to weather and sea conditions, particularly for the safety of our passengers, as stated in our terms and conditions. In this case, we would be happy to provide you with an insurance letter for any claims with your insurance provider. Pretty wee island. Great equipment provided for snorkelling etc. Luckily we struck high tide. Unless you pay more than the already pricey half day trip, it’s difficult to find a cool shady spot. Food great in lovely cool cafe with fans by the pool. Too hot anywhere else for even older children. Showers at cafe were only a dribble. Still has too loud music per earlier reviews. Seemed disorganised & big confusion which bus to take home.

The boat leaving the marina is a combination of different island day cruises so will make stops to drop off passengers on the way (the same for the return). To get onto Beachcomber itself it's a small boat transfer. On arrival you get a briefing the locations and times for different activities and meals then you're left to your own devices.

The island itself is beautiful but not very large so is easy to completely walk on your own (I recommend having some shoes for the rockier areas though). We actually came across the turtle area during our own exploration so didn't worry about doing it "as scheduled"

We didn't hear the call for snorkelling despite being in the area so missed the boat. Instead we went out ourselves from the shore and found some good coral and fish life if you were willing to swim out a bit. Just make sure you are a strong swimmer as coming back in against the current was tiring and we were only given the masks and snorkels NOT fins so we had no added assistance.

The buffet lunch was simple but very tasty and the bar had a good selection for fair prices.

What we enjoyed most was that we really had a FULL day on the island and felt that we could just relax and enjoy "island time" without being rushed. We also lucked out and had beautiful weather and a very quiet island the day of our visit so at times we felt like we had the place practically to ourselves.

The island is beautiful & the staff are friendly but it was a bit underwhelming for the price. The hand day trip is expensive for a family & the food etc at the club is overpriced.

I think it’s more suited to teens and young adults than families - the music is loud & the pool area is quite adult.

We did have a nice day but I don’t think it offered much more than a nice hotel. If you’re going for the snorkelling I’d suggest trying elsewhere as it’s pretty average. The views are stunning though.

So, you only see places like Malamala island in magazines...until you find yourself there. I booked this on a whim and it was the best $80 or so I've ever spent. I'd say the same thing at twice the price.

The beaches, the service, the food, the drinks, and the serenity were next level.

Really enjoyed our half day at Malamala Beach Club. A half day was the perfect amount of time for our family of 2 adults 2 kids. We got there and had a delicious lunch at the restaurant - it did take a long time for the food to come out but the kids went in the pool while waiting. The infinity pool is really nice here and we spent more time in the pool than swimming in the sea. But the family went kayaking. Unfortunately we had some bad weather with a thunderstorm but it passed after about an hour. Was quite nice in the afternoon as we were on the second departure so the island emptied out, the sun came out and we had more cocktails and dessert and swam in the pool. It felt like paradise!

This was the highlight of our holiday to Fiji.
The staff are so helpful and welcoming. They remained professional when dealing with rude and demanding guests. The food was the best we had whilst in Fiji. My only regret is that we did a half day and not a full day. Next visit will be a full day.
My kids aged from 3 - 14 all had a great time as well.
