Great experience on the day cruise to Tivua Island. The crew were fantastic and the Island activities were great fund. They put on a nice lunch and drinks included which we really enjoyed.

        Good but a little misleading
Good day trip. Main issue was a lack of equipment at the island... the free kayaking option was one kayak split between 100 people; paddle boards were two old windsurfer bases. The coral was also badly bleached at this island. Talking to people who did other cruises, it sounds like others got the picturesque coral reef experience... we had colourful fish but no colour in the coral.

        Great day out just chilling
The crew are amazing ! They were so helpful, cheerful and their singing is so sweet! The bbq lunch is so good and full of variety. I recommend going to Tuva with CCC, whether you’re a first time snorkeller with a family, couple or a solo traveller. They really do look after you. Bula!

        BOOK A CAPTAIN COOK
I peviously wrote a review saying how we were, amongst others, unfortunate enough to be waiting to check in for our 7 night cruise, that did not eventuate , because of paperwork delays from Captain Cook Cruises in Paris. After contacting Captain Cook Cruises in Fiji, we are now booked on another 7 night cruise in June, and we have very graciously been granted an upgraded suite. So I now say BOOK A CAPTAIN COOK.

        Give CAPTAIN COOK a miss
Our cruise was a non event. Along with Robert W from Sydney and about 30 other couples, we were there on 12th March. 2024. We were at front of the queue waiting and waiting. We were eventually told they were waiting on paperwork from Paris. I think the paperwork must have been on a very slow boat via Australia. We were told by another person that they had come down to the marina the previous Saturday and also Monday, the previous day, to be told that yes the boat would definitely be sailing on Tuesday 12th. . Like the majority of the waiting people, we had not received any email. To date, we have still not received that email nor the email regarding the full refund that we had requested. There was not enough staff to assist all the unhappy travellers and the staff did not know how to contact Virgin Airlines. A staff member did call the hotel that we had stayed at the previous night, firstly told nothing available, but when I spoke to them and told them we had stayed the previous night, yes they had a room available. I asked if Captain Cook Cruises would pay for our taxi fare to return to the hotel and was told no. Further discussions and the staff did organise a bus to drop people off at various hotels. Management left the staff to deal with some very unhappy travellers. Don't book with Captain Cook. There are other companies doing similar cruises. A TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. And created a great deal of extra expenses for us and many others.

A brilliant day trip location with a chance to see reef sharks up close
This is an amazing day trip location and we absolutely loved it ! Harmless reef sharks aplenty in the shallow shore waters and we got amazing footage of them swimming past. Great food and such a relaxing atmosphere.

        A super disappointing trip
The Spirit of Pacific “sailing boat “ from Captain Cook cruise it’s an absolute rip off and definitely not worth it!! We went on the Spirit of Pacific for a day cruise with Captains Cook cruises for our 20th wedding anniversary and were super disappointed, after paying $366 AUD for 2 pax. We were not impressed with state of the boat, with loose hideous chairs laying around as seats, there no info about where and there were toilets available on the boat . It a rainy day (not their fault) The lunch was super mediocre (many people) were not eating!! Couldn’t wait to get back to Denarau but when were all in the boat in the middle of a diluvio a Big Katamaran arrived (also from Captain Cook) and settle on the side of our boat and start to disembark all their passengers right through out boat and that wasn’t all they also embark a whole lot if passengers through for Denarau!!!! They had no regard for their passengers: guests and no respect for our time and even our safety! Everyone was dumbfounded and couldn’t believe our eyes! Then the Big Katamaran with all their guests left before us too That cause a Domino effect that made us get to our hotel at 8 something pm in the middle of a rain storm I do recommend this Company or this boat

        Tivua Tour
Unfortunately, I suffered an MCL knee tear before my trip and had to wear a knee brace. The entire crew was fantastic. They went out of their way to make sure I had a safe, good time. Special thanks go to Bale, Merill (?) and Lasanya who were extremely attentive to both my needs and the entire tour group. The food was delicious, probably one of the best during my week's stay in Fiji. Fijians could teach Americans a thing or two about customer service. Planning on going back to Fiji and doing more tours.

        When things go wrong
We arrived at Port Denaura about 10:15am on the departure day to check in at the Captain Cook counter for a four night Yasawa Island cruise. As we joined the queue the couple in front told us the 4 night cruise would not be going. I checked my email to find a note from Captain Cook Cruises at 10:12am saying that a ‘maritime admin problem’ would prevent the cruise departing today. Check in was between 10-11am so the email arrived after check in started. The cruise ‘might’ go the next day if the issue was resolved but the cruise would therefore be only 3 nights. At 10:29am the next day, half way through check in time, I received an email to say the cruise was cancelled. The 4 night cruise joined a 7 night cruise that should have departed 3 days earlier. Apparently those cruisers had already been told of the delay and had been left in limbo the whole time. It was clear throughout the whole debacle that Captain Cook had no disaster recovery plan. There was no offer of accommodation or help with flights. We were just offered another cruise or to turn up the next day to see if the problem had been resolved. Problems occur but customers need certainty and they need it quickly so they can make decisions about their travel plans. Problems can be an opportunity for a company to really shine with their service delivery. Unfortunately that did not occur in this instance.

        This island is just paradise
Such a beautiful and small island. This was island is the paradise, almost intact. It takes 90min to get to the island inside this old sailing boat but it was amazing snd they sing all the time. I was also asking questions about the islands in the distance to the captain and he was super helpful and nice. There are just a few small buildings on it and the rest is all natural. You can see baby sharks (They don't bite) on the beach, do snorkeling, diving if you like and also use the glass bottom boat. If you are lucky you might see some turtles too! When we went the island was full so went the end of the island and it was the best spot ever, nobody around so we felt like Tom Hanks on the movie Castaway for a few hours, amazing! They give you an amazing buffet at lunch time and unlimited beer and soft drinks at the island. On the way back you get drinks too. 100% Recommended

Great experience. Good boat. Good people. Kid friendly.
Great value for money. Drinks on the ship are extra. On the island only beer and wine is free. All activities on the island are free.

My partner and I had a sunset dinner cruise bought as a present for us back in October 2019 (3 months ago). We phoned and emailed captain cook cruises 24 hours in advance to confirm our booking which they did and organised pickup times. We got ready on the day and waited at the front of our resort only to hear from our hotel staff that the cruise had been cancelled with no warning whatsoever as not enough people had booked to fill the boat. Absolutely appalled at the effort made from this company and would not recommend anyone to captain cook cruises in the future.

We have travelled the world and this was one of the most substandard trips we have ever done.
They tell you to be ready for pickup at your hotel 10mts before 4pm.
They forgot us plus when picked up every one had to wait around the jetty till 5 pm to board.
There was no commentary throughout the trip by anyone, regards the view, sunset etc.
The food was rubbish. Dry and not very warm. The half lobster that they promote was like a 100mm length of dried stick. I noticed other people also put it to one side.
My wife asked for a coffee after the dinner. She was told the water was still heating. Later they told her they didn’t have tea or coffee.

It’s not a cruise. They take you out into the bay and basically idle around in the one area.
I’ve been in business and boating my whole life and would of thought a company such as this would have been more professional.
Captain Cook tours Fiji, you need to lift your game and give people the experience they are paying for.

Bula Meander, we will address this immediately, thank you for letting us know about the overcooking, cold food and lack of tea and coffee. There should be plunger coffee and a selection of tea and this will happen now. We have a schedule to allow for all hotels and there are things to do at the Port while you wait. The cruise is to see the sunset and then the lights of Denarau are gorgeous as night falls. Thank you for letting us know.

The driver was on time to collect us-fantasic. We are 15min out of arrival when he said I have got to take you back as I collected the wrong people. Arh hold on we are never going to make it back in time for the cruise. okay what will be will be. So back to the hotel dodging the cattle, shirtless guys on horses and many goats only to find the other people got jack of waiting and found there own way. Back to the wharf to catch the boat that was hopefully waiting for us. Great we made it. On the boat we go, but wait we only have a table for 2, not to worry we will set an extra plate. As we sit down we are asked by the lovely waiter would we like a glass of champagne. Hmm no, last I heard champagne only comes from France and made anywhere other is just not cricket. So we passed on the instant headache in the glass and went for beer and GNT after being explained no sorry we don’t have many of the items noted on the list. By the time we asked for number 3 GNT the lovely waiter explained we have run out of tonic. Laugh or cry, I went with laugh. The food was ok but the hot food was cold cold cold. As the AC was set to arctic we headed up to the bridge and sat behind the wheelhouse where there was no AC and a lovely aft water view - don’t open the windows as the fumes are a tad …. Off to see the cultural show performed by the staff doing the best they can in what appeared to be a task they had no choice in if they wanted to get paid. Overall the staff from start to finish were helpful and polite and did the best with what they had but the rest was a 1 out of 10. Captain Cook Sunset Cruise - Denaru Fiji.

Bula, sounds like you got off on the wrong foot with the transfer. We will contact our contractor and ensure this is improved for future guests. There is no excuse for no tonic. G&T in the tropics is mandatory. Thank you for letting us know, it is now restocked. Thank you for the praise of our crew and sorry they didn't deliver as you expected on the night.

Notice - Drinks aren’t included in the package which we didn’t not know about

If you’re after a nice sunset sail, hope you don’t get a gaggle of 30 camera waving clowns blocking the front of the boat completely ignoring the people they’re stepping on or an obnoxious group on a farewell dinner. That was painful beyond belief.

Food was ok, nothing to write home about

You sail, sorry, motor out to the opening to port Denarau, drift for a while then drop anchor

We had a wonderful evening enjoying the amazing scenery while waiting for the sunset. A major highlight was Leps, who sang to us throughout the evening. His love for his culture was evident and we were able to experience an evening filled with Fijian culture. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the sunset set because of the weather but we were not at all disappointed. The food was really good and service was great, typical of the Fijian service we experienced the entire trip. Leps, thanks again for making our night memorable.

Having drinks on the deck as we sailed toward the sunset was beautiful! But once it got dark and we made our way inside for food, it became a bit average. The eating area was very tight and we had to wait quite a while to be invited up to the buffet. I thought I read somewhere that the boat was air conditioned— I’m not sure that was the case as pedestal fans were blowing everywhere but it was still very warm! The lights were also very harsh; thankfully, someone asked for some of the lights to be turned down/off and that made it much better. The food on the buffet was excellent, including dessert and all the staff were wonderful. The cultural show was great too, but I found it very hard to see or hear properly from my table down the back. Overall, it was ok and the staff did the very best with what was available.

Overall disappointing. This is not really a cruise. You leave the harbour and anchor about 10 mins into the trip. Have dinner, watch a show, then up anchor and come back. Total crushing time is max 20 mins, that’s probably generous.
Food is average and only one seafood option, an average piece of fish. This is a tropical island with an abundance of seafood and you get served beef rendang and lamb curry. You can opt for the lobster at an extra $77 per person!, although not available on our trip, no reason given. At $110 per person it is not worth the money. Cultural show was good.

We had great expectations for this trip. A nice looking catamaran and friendly crew. The cruise out on deck was very nice, things went downhill quickly when we went below deck for dinner. The main cabin was musty and dirty, very hot and uncomfortable. Several guests carried their plates upstairs and balanced their plates on their laps to avoid eating below. The buffet dinner was edible but poor quality. To top things off we anchored for about an hour while they tried to get everyone to buy more overpriced drinks. The captain left the deck lights on rather than let us see the stars as we motored in. I wish we had eaten at our resort.

The sunset cruise is the epitome of a tourist trap: not really a cruise, the boat is tatty, cringeworthy entertainment and the lobster was awful! The boat sails just out the harbour and sits in a single spot for ages, then it moves a little to sit outside the Hilton hotel, then heads back so not a cruise at all! I ordered the lobster which was expensive and regretted it: it was so overcooked with onion and pepper and dry that it tasted terrible and had an awful texture. The normal buffet food was good and plentiful especially the prawns so dont waste your money with the lobster. I would suggest avoiding this experience especially at that price
