          Excellent experience
Excellent service. Good English speaking guides. All ran on time and was well organised. Small group made it more personalised.

Like a factory with some parts missing
A bit disappointing. I discovered just after pickup that my return trip would be to the first train stop on the route back from Cusco. Translated, this meant that I would be bussed (small, minimal leg room, no facilities or stops --- 2 hours plus!) to the bus terminal in Cusco. This made the full day about 17 hours worth of fun. The train down was from the station (Poroy) 20 minutes outside of Cusco . . why the giant bus ride back???? I was never told in spite of 2 times being told they would check. So that wasn't ideal. The tour of Machu Picchu was impressive. But our group was mixed with about 4 English and 4 Spanish speakers so the guide translated for both causing a lot of delay. Overall it was decent but know you will not be getting premium service for $349.

Adriel is the best theist guide ever!
He say was very well organized. We had plenty of time for each activity and Adriel kept the team on time to be able to meet all the places in the itinerary. He gave us a great overview of Inca history and the historical context of what we were looking at. He brought local fruits for us to try which were delicious.

I really enjoyed this tour. The guide was very knowledgeable. He really made me feel comfortable and included since I was the only one who needed an English translation. Sacsayhuamen was my favorite site of the tour.

          Awesome experience
We are older and slower so we did a private tour. Our guide was very sweet and kind, as well as knowledgeable about the history of the Inca people and Machu Pichu. Without him, I don't believe that I would have made it to enjoy this magical place! It was definitely worth the 2 hour car ride, 1.5 hour train ride, 25 minute bus ride up to the gate and the painstaking climb up the ancient stone steps that bring you to the place where you can look down to the ancient city.

          Too crowded and expensive
Of course everyone visiting Peru wants to see the famous Machu Picchu. After some hesitation, fearing big crowds, my wife and I decided to go there. The view from the ruins is spectacular; we've all seen in it photos many times. The view is the best part of the visit. It's not cheap or easy to get there, though. You must get train tickets to Aguas Calientes, bus tickets up to the park and an entry ticket for the park itself, all of which are rather expensive. We had to wait in line 3 hours for the park entry ticket. You also have to wait in long lines to board the buses going up and down. You have to file through the park itself in a line of other tourists. This was the only really crowded place we experienced in our 4-week trip to Peru. Unless you really don't mind crowds, I would recommend visiting other Inca ruins instead of Machu Picchu. The Machu Picchu views are tremendous, but Peru is full of tremendous mountain views.

          Poor experience
Like anyone else traveling to Peru, I was excited to see Machu Picchu and chose the best company by looking at the reviews. Given that VIPAC had good reviews, I thought I would give it a chance, but I did not have an enjoyable experience with them. First, I originally booked one month in advance, and a few days later, they asked for confirmation via email. Due to my oversight, I didn't respond within 48 hours, and they canceled my trip. I had to work with them again to book another trip, which wasn't ideal, but that's not the main reason why I didn't have a good experience. They provided a lack of communication, leaving travelers confused about where to go. From picking up at the hostel to the train station to the bus, you'll have to navigate on your own. I was the one that consistently try to communicate with them via email/whatsapp, not the other way around. My tour guide was nice but rushed us through Machu Picchu, allowing limited time to take photos, which was hugely disappointing. I assumed we had more time to take pictures and explore at our own pace, but that was not the case. We came back to the train station 3 hours early when we could've explored more at Machu Picchu, a once-in-a-lifetime sight. Very disappointing. Worse yet, the train ride was supposed to be 4 hours but ended up taking 6 hours. When I got off the train, the VIPAC shuttle bus was not there—no courtesy call or text. Instead, I had to text them. With a lack of communication, I decided to walk alone to the hostel. There are plenty of better options than this one. I do not recommend this company, especially for the Machu Picchu tour.

Everyone was was kind and helpful. From Danny picking us up on time and ensuring we had all our ticket to our guide Paul being super knowledgeable and making sure we understood the humanity of the people. Even Arturo went above in making sure we got back on time to catch our flight. The train and bus ride went smoothly and comfortably. Will be recommending.

          Not a great experience
We were very disappointed in this experience. Apparently they forgot to pick us up for the tour. We had to use our hotel concierge and they realized they had left us and brought the taxi to the second part of the tour. No apologies were made. The tour guide was OK but not extremely informative. we were actually overall very disappointed. Ended up leaving the tour early because we felt like it lasted too long for the amount of information we were gathering. Sorry we would not recommend.

        Feb 2024 • Family
This is Yi Shen, passenger and victim for the Hiram Bingham Feb 8th/2024 disaster! The train been derailed, after the couple minutes huge bumpy and jumping from the train, the whole dining area was covered by crashed glasses, the dropping luggage, pale faced passengers, splashed wine/beverage everywhere….

Just back to USA and here to address the manor regarding to that gigantic chaos.

Personally I did contact Belmond train Feb 9th/2024 round afternoon time, however my family not satisfied with either the solution or the response from Belmond!

First of all, due to long term great reputation of Hiram Bingham train service, so I made the reservation for this epic round trip. (My mom passed, tried to give my dad a break). Assumed we gonna have some good experiences, but not really. Especially the derailment would be life threatening, and after that most of passengers lost their appetite, been scared about what was gonna happen? Even though from Wanchaq to Machu Picchu train ride was quite average , passengers couldn’t even made a choice but standard meal set. The restroom near bar area been broken, and kept that status on the train back to Cusco. No fixing at all. There were several passengers from the Celebrity Cruise, cause I saw the logo on their tour guider’s outfit. That lady was quite nice and responsive, every 15-20 mins, she would check her team members and updated the situation. However, our tour guider from Hiram Bingham barely did anything, he never greeted any passengers and check if everyone was ok. Not really eager to help people out and keep info updated; unless he had to make the announcement to all passengers. (His name Rodi). Not a well atmosphere, as the fair statement. Furthermore round trip would be the whole package of Hiram Bingham experience, wouldn’t be reasonable to divided by two.

When the incident happened, I held my glass, but red wine still splashed out on my white Polo shirt, when we finally arrived at hotel, time frame was 2am; which should be round 9pm as the arrangement…

I specifically showed train Manager Henry about my all tinted top, and asked for the detailed report regarding this nightmare. After several emails, haven’t heard anything about my report yet, but ball kicking lol. Now my question here “ Is Hiram Bingham experience really worth?!”

As above-mentioned content, we don’t think the partial refund from Belmond (a world famous iconic service chain) would be a proper way for the apologies; since customers got more potential cost behind…

I’d like to communicate with the higher level management team, in order to address this issue.

        Best regards

Sat dawn and got comfortable and within 10 minutes of getting seated I was asked if I wanted a drink. I asked for a vodka and was told they ran out. One hour later we see the waiter pouring absolute vodka to a woman sitting at another table. I asked what happened and all they could say is sorry. When I asked why they had lied to me, all they kept saying is sorry. I went back to the bar only to find out that they we low on most of the alcohol except for wine.

They also would quickly refill the mens wine and had the the men taste the wine before pouring but left the woman’s glasses empty until they were asked to refill the woman’s glasses.

For these prices they should get some training.

Our absolutely apology for the service of Hiram Bingham train. Our travelers are always very satisfied with the whole experience and we will check what happened with vodka, just in consderation, the train includes local alcohol only, international brands are not included, but they could offer with extra price. About the wine tasting, we will send your feeling to change it.

My friend and I traveled hey to Peru to visit Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley! With the help of Chris Mahoney, and Uncover Latin America Travel Agency, we had the best experience you could ever imagine. Chris helped us book a nice in a lifetime one-way train experience from Cusco to Aguas Calientes on the Hiram BinghamTrain and it was unbelievable! From the time we checked in to the end of the train ride, we were treated like royalty! The food was delicious, the bartenders, or should I call them mixologists, were extremely talented, and the entertainment in the observation car was fun and interactive! If you have an opportunity to travel to Machu Picchu, I highly recommend spending the extra money to take the Hiram Bingham Train to Aguas Calientes train station. And if you’re looking for a travel agency that ensures that every step of the way, your trip is expertly planned with no issues, I highly recommend Uncover Latin America!

This train truly makes the trip to Machu Picchu a trip of a lifetime. From the moment they open your taxi door at Poroy Station to the moment you arrive back at your hotel, you are completely taken care of. The station manager and Jimmy made sure we had all of the details of our trip finalized before we left. The lobby and welcome drink at the station are a great way to relax before the journey. The traditional band and dancers get everyone excited during boarding! Onboard, the bar car and restaurant cars are immaculate and luxurious - you will then understand why this is one of the top trains in the world. All of the staff goes above and beyond with their warm, high-end service. Nick even let us borrow his charger both ways! Jimmy took wonderful care of us both ways, and made sure we had delicious vegan options, which he had the kitchen customize just for us - he also brought me a blanket and pillow when I was exhausted on the ride back! The band is absolutely phenomenal, as well. They played a wide variety of songs, from traditional Peruvian music, to popular latin songs, as well as classics in English with a nice latin flare. This was absolutely the way to do the trip to Machu Picchu, and I recommend this for anyone.

My wife and I really enjoyed this experience traveling back to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu. The cover band played great hits and were interactive with the guests, even with the staff on the train (drummer would play off the serving trays as they walked by). The dining showcased how authentic and unique Peruvian food can be. My wife is a chef and she thought the food was A+, and the hospitality (service, making sure we were enjoying ourselves) was also A+. When they found out she was a chef, they offered her to see the kitchen and meet the chef as well. We would definitely do this train ride again.

This was the highlight of the trip. It was a great experience from the start. The staff was excellent Paulo, and Pablo love them both! The food was excellent, they were even accommodating to my dietary restriction. The live music made it easy to interact with the other passengers. It felt like we knew each other from a lifetime before . They provided us with water to take with us on the hike, which was very useful.

This isn't a cheap ride but I don't regret it. Treat yourself this life isn't promised

If you are on the fence about doing this or not, just do it! It's worth every penny. We are so happy we booked the round-trip train ride to Machu Picchu. From the very start of the experience, we were given morning coffee, water, danish, danced with the Peruvian Dancers, listened to traditional Peruvian music and all with friendly servers and hosts from Belmond. Our small group (5 people) boarded a shuttle to catch the train to Machu Picchu. We meet up with 8 additional people on the train. The train is pristine and very well maintained. We all had a blast on the route to MP. We listened to a band on the train and experienced a wonderful, tasty lunch with cocktails & wine. Once we reached Machu Picchu it was magical. Our Guide (Luis) was exceptional, providing much historical facts and insights about MP. Then after about 4 hours at MP, we took the train back. Same band was on the train but played different music. We all danced and had an excellent dinner. It was a very long day beginning at 6:50am, and arrived back to our AirBnB by 11pm. Worth the price since Belmond exceeded our expectations.

The Hiram Bingham is the only way to get to Machu Picchu! The train itself is stunning and classically appointed. Amazing bar car and observation car with entertainment as well as the stunning views. Delicious lunch and dinner with local ingredients. Service is impeccable - all of the staff knew our names from the moment we arrived. Pablo in particular was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend the Hiram Bingham and all Belmond properties in Peru!

The Hiram Bingham is an incredible experience. Enjoy the elegant atmosphere including entertainment, a bar car, and an observation deck. I will admit that the dinner was disappointing. They do have options but you have to ask. We did the round trip and loved it. It is so easy to get to the Sanctuary Lodge using the Hiram Bingham. They provide transportation that is less stressful than taking the town buses to Machu Pichhu. the Hiram Bingham transports your luggage right to the hotel of your choice. If you are looking for luxury this train is a must. TIP: the cocktails are included in your rate. Visit the bar car while on board

One of the best experience of our lives!
This was my second time riding the Hiram Bingham, my first time was in 2016 and now again this month with my entire family. While it is pricey it’s an experience you’ll never forget.
