- Miro M0 contributionsOne of the best and amazing Trip/trekking experienceMiler was our guide during our Trekking trip in Batad. He was was helpful, likeable, funny and most importantly well informed. He was always keen to share his life experience and the Way of living in Philippines. He is definitely the best guide I have ever come across. I highly recommend him.Written 4 June 2022

- Jojo S0 contributionsUnforgettable sight to see. Amazing! My specific request was that my guide be more fit than I as I suspected some of the trails might be a bit challenging. The tour guide I was introduced to was Miller. He’s definitely fit, polite, very punctual, and indeed a likable guy. The Batad rice terraces was just stunning. Miller is so informative, and I learned that his family resides right at the terraces - I wasnt dealing with just a regular guide, or one who came from another city, Miller has deep connections with the farmers of Batad, Banaue! I was delightfully surprised. He introduced me to an Apo, an elderly farmer who makes rice wine. I witnessed how Apo stored his rice wine, into a pot, as he carefully poured a sample for us to taste. What a treat! I could just imagine Apo planting the rice, out on the terraces, and in time harvest the yield and made some i to wine. Now I get to partake on something that the terraces and Apo had produced. We stopped by another native hut where Miller’s family reside - I had a chance to preview the hut’s interior and saw how the bushels of rice were neatly stacked. Miller grabbed a couple of bushels - and I was able to do the photoshoot that I needed for work. Miller demonstrated how the farmers processed the rice manually - and it quite a laborious undertaking. Requires a bit of physical lifting and wood pile driving to de husk the rice. It’s all captured n video, and recorded in my brain. What an experience. I came away with so much respect and gratitude to Miller’s ancestors whose hands had built these cascading terraces - from 2,000 years or so ago. What an immense achievement now for us to enjoy and marvel at. Hiking through the terraces, the aroma was amazingly refreshing like a freshly cooked steamed rice! The whole place is huge and full of life! While you can, climb the steps of the terraces and immerse your senses to the beauty and all that is about Batad and the people of Banaue. You’ll come away with great appreciation for what their ancestors have created. I highly recommend Miller, and when I cone back, Ill definitely ask for Miller to be my guide.Written 29 May 2022

We have been traveling Southeast Asia for 4 months, and out of all our tour guides, Bridget and Miller are the best!
Highlights:
• Professional, communicative, flexible, always prepared
• Prioritized safety and convenience
• Competitive pricing
• Simply put, some of the most kind and generous people we’ve ever met!
+ Preparation: Only hours after I booked, Miller contacted me to confirm logistics, including flexibility with what time to begin the tour. He also offered to pick us from the bus station, drop us off at our hotel, and start the tour as soon as we were ready. Miller introduced me to Bridget, who took me on the tour herself. She was even prepared with umbrellas in case you don’t bring your own.
+ Communication: They were very communicative and quick to respond to messages from the very start. Our guides spoke in Tagalog/Filipino, English, and other languages. Before starting the tour, they walked us through a map of our destinations and were clear about how much time it would take to get between places, what time we could stop to eat, how flat/steep the terrain would be, and other safety info.
+ Transportation: We were given the option to ride a tricycle or large van to get from the hotel to our destinations. If you’re short like me and there’s only one or two of you, tricycle should be fine. If there’s even one tall person in your group, it would be worth paying extra for the more comfortable, air-conditioned van.
+ Professional: Always ready on time, often even early so that you can maximize your time on the tour. Knowledgeable about the history and culture of both the local and surrounding areas. If you need any recommendations for places, services, prices, and referrals, they have a good professional network they can share with you.
+ Budget: Their prices are very competitive compared to other local tours. Bring extra cash for the tourist registrations, meals, and souvenirs.

WOW! Miller and his wife Bridget were absolutely amazing. Hands down the best tour guides we have ever had, no doubt about it. My husband and I had never been on a tour where the guide was so accommodating, caring, informative, and were willing to go above and beyond every single time. Miller even made sure he got us to the airport on time, driving through the night (9 hr drive to Manila) and dropping us off at the terminal. They made sure we got the best viewpoints for pictures and even took our picture so we could have pictures together. They knew the best angles and where to stand to really get the best view. Miller even arranged for us to get picked up at the end of our trip and ride in a tricycle which was super cool. Bridget even brought us to her parents house on the trek and showed us and taught us how to process rice and even gave us some to take back home.
Before our trip even began, Miller was in contact with me and answered every single one of my questions. I never felt like I was annoying him with my millions of questions and would always confirm to make sure we were on the same page and made sure everything was set up and ready for us.
His wife Bridget was our tour guide and she was amazing. I had read reviews that mentioned the trek was tough and I didn't believe them, I thought maybe it was difficult but not to the extent that everyone was saying. No, this trek is a major work out and does take a great amount of effort, especially that first day. But was it worth it? Yes, absolutely yes and we would do it again in a heart beat. We did a 3 day trek and when we left, we were left wishing we had more time to spend there. It could have been because we were traveling during the rainy season but be aware, the ground is slippery. Thankfully between Bridget and my husband holding my hand, I survived. Thank you again Bridget for saving my life countless times. My husband on the other hand did not share the same struggles as me. He completed the entire hike in his vans, although he would recommend hiking boots. But both of us agree that we had the best time of our lives. If you are even thinking about going to Banaue and seeing the rice terraces, just book it and make sure you book with Miller. You won't have any regrets. Buy your souvenirs while you're in this area as well, the prices can't be beat.

Thank you very much for your trust in booking with us, especially your patience and time in reaching out to us.
Enjoying every moment and nice view of the trek and the rice terraces makes us forget how hard is the hike. Rainy season is not a hindrance to cancel the trip because every time there's always a reason behind. Me and my wife are very much happy to be our guest during your trip here in Banaue rice terraces. 🙏
We hope to see again someday somehow with your family and kids. We wish you all the best and God bless you always.

Thank you to Miller from Banaue Adventures for being an amazing tour guide. He took into consideration what the best itinerary was for us based on our short stay in the area. This included the Batad rice fields with a quick stop to try our hand at manually de-husking rice - a worthwhile experience. He also picked us up directly from our hostel and dropped us off to our bus back to Manila. If you're ever in the Banaue area, I would highly recommend contacting Miller to be your guide. He was kind, funny, and really made out short stay there one to remember!

Miller was an excellent, informative guide who gave the most spectacular guided tour. We got to see all of the beautiful rice terraces, the waterfall and I even got to try my hand at traditional rice processing down in the Batad village surrounded by the rice terraces. Miller was not only knowledgeable, but also has a family lineage working the rice terraces. It was incredible watching his skill with the rice making and to hear the history he had to share of the terraces and the Filipino life style. His English was excellent and he was friendly and curious about my culture. Very personable. I shared with him that I had my motorcycle license and he allowed me to try riding his motorcycle side car in a safe section of the road. It was thrilling. I was even given the opportunity to meet his mother and father who used to work the rice terraces in their youth, and was able to purchase the freshest most delicious turmeric tea that his mother processes and sells in the local markets. Miller allowed plenty of time for me to enjoy my one day tour, and even encouraged me to slow down and appreciate the surroundings. When I had to wait for my bus after the tour, he waited with me to make sure I boarded safely. This is the best tour I have ever experienced. The perfect combination of adventure, history and thrill. Highly recommend this tour with Miller Himmoldang. Maraming Salamat Po!

From beginning to end the trip was great.
I was coming from Sagada and was picked up by Miller straight from the bus stop. I had another friend join in last minute in which Miller was able to slot him in aswell as make changes to the itinerary for an additional price.
We arrived to the rice terraces and our accomodation later at night though the walk down to the accomodation was easy enough with a flashlight. We stayed at Simon's Inn which I couldn't recommend enough.
Come next morning I was blessed with the view of the rice terraces straight from my window and our tour started early as requested at 5:30AM
We made our way through the rice terraces, stopped by a local house and learned how to process rice from raw material aswell as wear traditional clothing which was a great experience.
We then continued our way down to the Tappiyah Falls (Additional) which was quite a hike going back up but way worth it and quite refreshing.
We worked out way back up through the rice terraces and went further into our itinerary which were additional but I recommend to maximize your plans if you're only there 1 day. We added Ducligan to our itinerary and went to the Hotsprings, Snake Riverview Point aswell as the main Viewpoint in Ducligan.
All in all it was a great but tiring day but way worth the trip.
I cannot thank Miller enough for accommodating us and being such a great guide!
Thank you 🙏

My husband, teenage son and I had an amazing adventure with Miller on a 2 night, 3 day trek from Banaue to Batad with an overnight stay in the charming village of Cambulo.
I organised all of this on messenger through the trip advisor link and after countless questions answered I decided to lock it in. I’m so glad I did!
He personally made the 9 hour journey to pick us up from Manila in a comfortable van and dropped us back to Manila to catch a flight at 6.55am! (with 2 extra drivers so they were not over tired)
The beauty of the mountains and rice terraces was breathtaking and Miller was THE best guide,
Local and knowledgeable, fun with a great sense of humor! On the first day my knee gave out on me, and my progress was very slow, Miller encouraged me, looked out for me and changed our plans for the next day as my knee was not up to stairs! Even though I had to take the next day out, I could still enjoy the view from our hotel, and the boys still got to have a great day hiking around Batad. This was all thanks to Miller being able to change plans at short notice to make sure everyone still had a great experience.
Our accommodation at Batad was a new place called Roberto’s Abung, friendliest people, incredible panoramic view of the rice terraces , great food and spotless.
My family and I can not recommend Miller highly enough. If you want to experience a unique culture and way of life, and get deep into nature then this tour is for you! He is a genuine, lovely person and his organization and care for us was outstanding from start to finish!
Thanks Miller!!!

The tour started by Miller picking me up from the banaue bus station by ohayami trans, you pay an environmental registration fee and then on your way.
Since I arrived Monday morning and would only be two days in banaue, the tour was accommodated for two days, instead of the usual three day tour.
Miller took me to a breakfast spot in a homestay and from there I was taken to several viewpoints and key points overlooking the beautiful terraces.
It was around a 30 minute ride over to Bataad in a motor tricycle.
Miller's wife, Brijhet was going to be leading the main tour of Bataad and surrounding areas, for day 1 we had a tour into the village of the Bataad terraces, and throughout the hike down Brijhet was very attentive and accommodating in both the hikes, bedroom accomodations, and in general needs throughout the tour, and finished with a demonstration of how local rice is processed manually. The people of Bataad and banaue have some unparalleled strength!
Day two was a hike down to tappiya falls, it's about an hour and back, two hours total, for someone that never hiked before this was a challenge coming back up, and I started cramping up at one point! Thankfully Brijhet was patient and would pace to allow me to rest on the way back.
The stay in the homestay was great, since I was alone i was given a common room in the under area of the homestay, with its own shower and bathroom. A warning that electricity is quite limited in this area and there was a specific time where the generators would turn on to allow charging of devices.
Throughout the tour Miller and Brijhet would offer to take pictures and videos, and at time help me out in carrying some of my items, or offering the portable fan that Brijhet would let me use.
This is a fantastic tour and Miller and Brijhet are not only great tour guides and provide in depth information to any questions about the surrounding area, lifestyle, and other agricultural questions, but they also had a great sense of humor. I was also able to meet some of Miller's cousins which were great people and hard workers.
This would be an ideal tour for more people and more days, since the area of Banaue and Bataad is so large that it would be good to plan your tour to start on a morning, and also bring some good hiking shoes because there's some hiking in rocks at times. I would recommend that you would ask for a tour map and also ask questions about the locations since most of these are stretched out and if you'd like to visit all of them, you'd either need more days, or have really strong calves since they are long hikes!
I'm glad I was able to book with them, and I'll be looking to meet with them soon the next time I go with more friends or family!

I booked a solo one day tour of the Batad Rice Terraces and Tappiya Falls (about 6 hours total). Miller was amazing at communicating beforehand and was helpful offering additional services and help. He met me at my hotel and from there his wife Bridget took me on the tour. We went to the public market place, a couple of scenic spots, and, of course, the rice terraces and waterfall. Bridget was super knowledgeable about the history, the plants, the processes, just everything. And she shared all that knowledge and answered all my questions. She was wonderful and kind and I had an amazing time with her. Bridget and Miller (and their families) have lived and worked in the Batad Rice Terraces for generations so it was truly an authentic experience. We even stopped at their family home and threshed the rice. Bridget was amazing at explaining the process of what they do and so generous. The hike into the village and to the waterfall and back is no joke!! I’m in pretty good shape and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. And even though Bridget walked it like it was a Sunday stroll (lol), she was as patient with me when I had to stop and kept a pace that was comfortable for me. And it was 100% worth it. Words can’t describe the peace and beauty of Batad and it was one of the most humbling experiences I’ve had in my life. It was, hands down, one of the best experiences I had in the Philippines, and honestly, in my whole life. I cannot recommend Bridget and Miller enough and think this is a must do thing if you’re in the Philippines. Heck, you should go just to do this! Make sure you bring lots of water, sunscreen, ponchos in case of rain, and a hat (wide brimmed is ideal). Thank you so much Miller and Bridge for an experience that I will never forget. Can’t wait to go back!!

Hello ma'am Jennifer,
Thank you very much for your trust and patience in booking with us. We really appreciate and very happy enough that you included Banaue rice terraces for your holiday vacation. I know the hike is hard enough, but it worth it.
We always wanted you to come back again with your family and friends someday somehow.
Thank you very much and God bless you and your family. 😊🙏

Miller is an absolute legend! From the beginning to the very end of the journey he offered us the best service a tour guide could offer! We did the 3 days hike. With his funny and easy going manner we loved to spend our days with him. He provided a good knowledge about rice and culture and has a very good feeling what the client needs.
In summary he was one of our best tour guides we ever met on our travels.

Miller is a local in the village of Batad and can safely guide you across the beautiful rice terraces. We did a small trekking and stopped at the village to learn and experience the local rice husk removal technique. If you want to arrange for a pick-up from the hotel, Miller can arrange for a Jeepney to travel to the hike starting point. Highly recommended experience & guide.

You could easily do a day tour. It is a ton of steps and some are steep but you can pace it the tour and stay within what is comfortable for your family. They are amazing and accommodating and will totally work within your families’ capabilities and comfort.

Hi, is it possible to come from Manilla, directly do the tour and come back for the night bus back? Or do you recommend having at least one night in the city?
