What to Expect
Meet your guide and small group at Guloudajie subway station then stroll to a nearby market, favored by chefs at the street's hip restaurants. Absorb the sights, sounds, colors, and scents as your foodie guide explains the principles of Chinese cuisine. Discover how to buy and use traditional Chinese ingredients. Learn about China’s eight great regional cuisines and the different sauces, spices, and condiments each region favors. Understand some of the basic ingredients that go into traditional Chinese medicine, and the principles that underpin it. Along the way, savor tastings and purchase what takes your fancy with your guide on hand as translator. Your tour ends in the market but your guide can direct you to the subway or help you find a taxi.
