  • Exciting combo tour of Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace
  • Photo op at Beijing's famous "Bird's Nest"
  • Local lunch included
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off
What to Expect
Your day begins with a convenient hotel pickup and scenic drive to the Mutianyu Great Wall, one of the oldest and most rugged sections, covered by picturesque chestnut orchards. Stop for a photo op at Beijing National Stadium, the famous “Bird’s Nest” from the 2008 Summer Olympics. Unlike the tourist-packed Badaling Wall, which is closer to the city, Mutianyu remains less explored, so you have time to leisurely wander the iconic monument without the crowds. You can even climb ancient watchtowers for views of the surrounding countryside. Break for a mouthwatering authentic lunch at a local restaurant. Then get ready to shift gears—and jump over a 1,000 years forward in time—at the 18th-century Summer Palace, known as the best-preserved imperial garden in the world. Enjoy the UNESCO-listed landscaped grounds, once home to powerful Qing rulers, before getting dropped back at your hotel in Beijing.

We went to Mutianyu and Summer Palace with Jimmy. He was a wonderful tour guide and made sure we were comfortable the whole time. Since we were there in January, it was less crowded, and still had some snow. Such an amazing experience! We went to a private home for lunch. My

Took this tour last week with the lovely Linda. Easy pickup from our hotel and it was a nice drive out to the Great Wall. The wall was covered in snow so we had some real “picture postcard” photo opportunities. Linda’s knowledge of the Wall and general Chinese culture was

As part of a whistle stop tour of three Chinese cities I decided to book to go to the Great Wall and Summer Palace. Susan the guide met me at the hotel and we were driven out to the wall. A pleasant drive that didn’t take too long. The Great Wall was deserted as it was snowing

Lucy was on time to pick us up from our hotel lobby with a car and driver. She managed to make us visit the Great Wall and the summer palace in time to drop us at the Pearl Market on the same day at 1530. Lucy’s English is impeccable and she is extremely polite and easy going.

We visited in November, and it was crisp and cold. Susan was excellent. Good command of English and patient with our requests. The good news about visiting in the off season was no crowds. You could actually take time to enjoy your visit. The bad news of November in Beijing was
