About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- jolienm6270 contributionsNice adventureNice trip! We enjoyed the hike and saw many animals by the lake. Also Hell's gate was a very nice experience! Charles is a very nice guide and a great driver!Written 15 January 2025
- S3266XYericc0 contributionsLayover tour of hells gate and lake naivoshaCharles was a great tour guide. He was on time to pick me up and was very accommodating and pleasant. I recommend this tour to anyone. Thanks for an awesome time!Written 10 January 2025
- Anne Katrine S0 contributionsCould be betterThe Masai Mara has a good density of animals, and you'll see a lot. The landscape and the tour itself is great. We were promised bottled water and didn't get any until day 2. And the lodge wanted 2 dollars pr bottle (small). The tourguide couldn't/wouldn't help because we all came from different agencies. The tour operator didn't reply until it was already fixed. And even when we had water, we were restricted to how many bottles we could have. Like, come on. Water is the bare minimum of what is expected, and it is so easy/cheap to provide. The tour guide was an incredible driver, but it seemed like he wasn't very much of a people person, and he didn't tell us a lot about the animals or update us on what was going on. I felt like I was bothering him when I asked questions. Overall I had a good experience but it could've been so much better.Written 10 January 2025
- Giovanni M0 contributionsGreat experience with Samuel! We had a great 3 days 2 nights tour in Masai Mara with them! Our driver Samuel drove us safely and demonstrated to have a lot of effort for his job! Thanks to Samuel we were able to see the big 5, and also Lions hunting Pumba :) it was one of the best experiences I ever had in my life! Samuele was constantly in contact with other drivers in order to move fast in the park when someone spotted some wild activity :) Accommodation is nice, with hot water and cozy rooms. Restaurant was simply amazing, dinner and breakfast were awesome! Atmosphere in the camp is calm, with Masai people very (Real Masai) friendly. Camp is just 5minutes away from the park entrance, it makes everything very suggestive.Written 9 January 2025
- mariellenl19740 contributionsunforgettable trip to Tsavo eastOur trip to Kenya was fantastic. We were picked up at our hotel on time by our Guide Pascal. Damaris did the entire guidance and handling upfront quickly and carefully. The 4x4 car was very comfortable and we drove it around Tsavo East for 3 wonderful days. Pascal is an enthusiastic and experienced guide who was there for us all the time. He knows a lot about the animals and the environment. We were also allowed to use his binoculars and had all kinds of books on board to inform us. We were all pleasantly surprised that we also saw the leopard. The accommodation Voi was also completely fine. Great food and the view phenomenal. I can recommend everyone to book your safari here. Safe, punctual, clean, everything was fine. We traveled with our three children of 12-14-16 years old and they also had the time of their lives. Very worthwhile.Written 8 January 2025

Continuing by foot ins more protected zone, we also got to see the sceneries that inspired the movie makers of Tomb Raider II and the Lion King. Many many thanks to Nuru from Perfect Safaris for picking me up in he morning and bringing me to the sights. We had a joyful car ride and both interesting and heart-warming talks along the way! We stayed in a cosy lodge which although was basic it was clean, cosy and had everything we needed.
Our guide Dennis was fantastic and went the extra mile to ensure we got the best sightings every day.It was unreal to see so many beautiful animals in their natural surroundings and be able to photograph them close up.
The restaurant meals were varied and tasty and the staff were very attentive to our requests.
Optional excursions were expensive but worthwhile, would highly recommend the hot air balloon trip.
Fabulous people who made us feel at home.

This ladge is right inside the core area of Masai Mara National Park, in Kenya, and consequently is a little pricy. It is spread over a large area, which is mostly open. There have been incidents of lions arriving behind the cottages. There is a small waterbody near the lodge, where a group of Hippos have made their home. This property was started in 1970s, so the design may be a little dated. Otherwise it is immaculately kept. Staff are nice and helpful, service is excellent. This was our base for two nights and we had multiple safari. Here again we had to buy bottled water with our meals at a high price. Never been able to find out a reason for not installing a RO water filter, and cut out this hassle for guests.

The lodge itself is beautiful. It is unfenced so animals can wonder in which is fine as they have security who will walk you around in the evening. It is a real spectacle to see a herd of impala casually walking around the resort. The hippo bar is a real treat and you can while away a few hours watching them. The food is fantastic- lots of choice and the rooms are comfortable. The staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you. We also did a balloon ride with them and we had Joyce Beckwith as our pilot- she was a joy to have flying us! Would highly recommend.

Hello,
Thank you for your positve review. The lodge's beauty and unique setting where animals roam freely sound truly amazing. It's wonderful that the security measures in place ensure a safe and fascinating experience. The hippo bar and the opportunity to observe hippos added to the charm of your stay. I'm glad the food, room comfort, and attentive staff enhanced your visit. Your balloon ride with pilot Joyce Beckwith sounds like a delightful experience. We greatly appreciate your recommendation.

I was very surprised to see the other reviews for this hotel were so high because it is not a 5 star lodge/hotel by any American standard. First, I will say the game drives that we went on in the Masai Mara Reserve were the best of the 3 reserves we visited in Kenya and Tanzania so in that regard the area is top-notch. There are lions everywhere and tons of other game. We got to see a cheetah stalk and kill an impala here and that was an amazing thing to see in real life.
Specifically, the Keekorok lodge is old and in desperate need of repairs. Looking at the roof from the exterior there looked to be some areas where it was caving in. There is no AC in the rooms but we were there during a cooler period so it was not unbearable. They include an oscillating fan in the room but ours did not work so that was no help at night. The bedding is not something I had ever experienced before because it felt rough like laying on a cheap paper towel. I joked with my wife that it had a thread count of 10, it honestly felt like it might be disposable or something.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, they did whatever was asked of them to make the guest's stay pleasant. The food is where they need to make immediate changes. There is only one restaurant so your choices are limited right out of the gate. All meals were served buffet style and there was not a very large selection and it was not plentiful. We expected the staff would refill the buffet entrees and sometimes they did and sometimes they did not. Our first lunch there was happened to be about 30 minutes before the end and there was not much to eat and nothing was refilled. Breakfast is usually a basic meal and most places can meet your needs, but this was also lacking. The eggs will be an issue for American diets and caused some major GI stress for my family the day we tried them. I later saw online the chickens in Kenya or mostly free range and the birds eating things resulting in contaminated eggs. We should have known there was an issue when the scrambled eggs were all white. The first omelet I saw being made I assumed was an egg white only omelet but it was not. By breakfast our last day we were eating bread and coffee.
I do not know the cost of this hotel because we stayed here as part of larger tour in Egypt and Kenya. However, we were in 4 and 5 star hotels throughout and this place felt like a big step down. I would not recommend it unless it is cheaper than other lodges in Masai Mara.

Delightful stay at the Keekorok resort we received a very warm welcome from Nemo. The rooms were spacious comfortable with a refreshing shower experience. Kennedy in the hippo bar looked after us well while we gazed upon bloat of hippos. Stanley looked after our rooms and insured we have everything needed. The restaurant staff were very attentive with a wide variety of food choice.
Emmanuel was the perfect game driver host for four days with excellent driving skills and ensured we saw the big 5 and a plethora of other wildlife including a fascinating trip to the local village where we experienced a tour and participated the local dance rituals.

Excellent place to stay. Nemo is excellent manager as well as all the staff at the hotel. The hotel is in the best location in Maasai Mara. If you are lucky you do not have to drive far to see the wildlife. There is a hippo pool at the hotel and one of the best hotels to see hippos in the Mara at very close range. Rooms are clean and the food is good. Definetely will recommend Keekorok.
