My husband and I had pre-booked this day trip before we left on our cruise, but some just found these guys in the carpark near the visitor's centre when we disembarked. The first pleasant surprise was the "water taxi" - it was a really fun ride! And the island, wow, it's

This tour included a water taxi ride out to Signal Island from close to the cruise port terminal, information about the island and where to snorkel, and a couple of hours to explore on our own. We spent most of the time in the water, seeing lots of turtles, fish and coral. We

Response from Dalocean, General Manager at Signal Island Turtle Tour from Noumea
Responded 29 Mar 2020
Hi Shane I’m very surprised when I read your review. I’m so sorry if you think we are thieves because it’s not true. We already explained to you by Email that our price is in XPF as we are a french territory and the rates AUD/XPF changed since the day you booked the tour and the of the tour (when we charge the tour) but I will re-explain for all people who can read this bad review about our company. We propose a tour in New Caledonia. In New Caledonia, our currency is the French Pacific Money : XPF so the reference price of our tour is in XPF (5000 XPF). To help people, we give you an idea of the price in AUD when you contact us : look at what you found in the first Email that we sent to all passengers who want to book with us : "Price is 5 000 xpf/pers for this tour (around 66 AUD to know the rates from XPF to AUD click on : https:/.......... ) ». But as you know, because of the bank rate, the value in AUD can change everyday but our price (in XPF) is always the same (5 000 XPF). When you book with us, you can change the currency on our website to have the value in AUD at the moment of your booking online. I just remind you that when you book with us, we only charge you the day before the tour when we are sure that the tour can take place according to the weather forecast and if your cruise ship still docking here. Because if your cruise ship doesn’t come here, we charge you nothing and don't need to refund people). So between your booking online and the day of your tour, the price of our tour doesn’t change (still 5 000 XPF) but the value can move. And that’s what happened for you. And unfortunately for you (and for me) because of the economic context, the value changed in your disadvantage but it’s not me who fix this value ! I just charged you the price of my tour (in XPF) that I always gave you : 5 000 XPF. I’m not responsible if the value changed a lot during this period (due to coronavirus the value move from 69 Aud to 79 AUD in 2 month). Now, I understand that it can be represented a big difference but I’m not responsible if the value changed a lot during this period due to coronavirus economical crises. Since we do this tour, it’s the first time we met this case. Why ? Because it’s the first time that the value changed like that, we never had the same scenario in 10 years. The XPF to AUD value was always between 62 aud to 71 Aud). The coronavirus crises move everything.. Below the mail I sent to this customer to show to everybody that we give us the price in XPF and only an idea of the value in AUD: Sent: Fri, 10 Jan 2020 08:32:39 +1100 "Hi Shane, Please find below informations about our « Noumea Turtle Tour » and how to buy your tickets online, for ? people on the 14 th of march Price is 5 000 xpf/pers for this tour (around 66 AUD,to know the rates : https://.... )." The second email we sent to us : Sent: Fri, 10 Jan 2020 10:15:35 +1100 "Shane If your cruise ship docks at 8AM, you have the time to disembark and to come to see us at our desk which is near the city cruise ship terminal of Noumea. Since we do the tour, nobody were on late. And if your cruise ship arrives with late, we will adapt the departure of the tour. If you are 6 people, the price is 30 000 XPF (around 408 AUD according to the rate of the day) Kinds regards, " So for everybody which read this review you can see we clearly give the price in XPF to Shane. Just a little question, when a New Caledonian resident go to Australia and book a tour, he will pay in AUD not in XPF whatever the value, isn’t it ? It’s the same situation here : when an Australian resident go to New Caledonia and book a tour, we will charge him in XPF not in AUD. That’s what I did for this customer! As we learnt of each situation, we decided to update all the booking information for the next cruisers who will book with us. I don't want to let it happen again.. Now, you will find this information when you contact us to have more information about our tour : « " Price is 5 000 xpf/pers for this tour (between 63 AUD to 100 AUD , to know the rates the day of the tour :https://....... ). " Dal Ocean Team

A very nice beach for snorkeling and relaxing. Great views, aqua water. Masks and snorkels provided. A covered area with picnic tables to enjoy your lunch if you bring one (rustic - no food, water or facilities on the small island).
