About
The Museum of Art Miguel Urrutia, previously called Banco de la República Art Collection, is a building with two large rooms, each of 500 square meters, to house temporary exhibitions of international stature. The complex also includes the Gregorio Vásquez de Arce square, an area for children's workshops, and an auditorium with capacity for 160 people. The three-story construction, inaugurated in 2004, was designed by the Bogota architect Enrique Triana Uribe who, for this project, received the 2006 National Architecture Prize.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- StephenCr0ss0 contributionsGreat free art museumIt’s part of a series of three museums and a combined cafe (which is excellent). The art is ok and most of it done by the same artist. I believe it’s Fernando Botero. You have to like his taste.Written 9 May 2024
- rschagrin0 contributionsGreat MuseumA very good museum featuring a display of Botero paintings. Also some very good Modern artists. Fortunately you can take pictures.Written 6 January 2024
- rons3200 contributionsMuseo de ArteThe second floor of the museum was closed. That left a small mediocre collection of Colombian artists located on the first floor. The museum is connected to Museo Botero and Casa la Moned. Free admissionWritten 23 November 2023
- 434leightonk0 contributionsA strong collectionRight next to the Botero Museum is the art collectin of the Banco de la Republica. It is s surprisngly good and diverse collection. I wish more banks shared such nice art collections!Written 8 February 2023
- CVLC10 contributionsGood Colombian art collectionThis museum is connected to Museum Botero and Casa de la Moneda (in January closed). It was free to enter and had wide collection of art works. Well worth a visit. Confusingly it has two names - MUMA and Bank of Republic Art Museum.Written 21 January 2023
- AngeliqueMagique0 contributionsGreat to SeeExcellent to check out, especially if you're already visiting Museo de Botero. The collections are unique and each one is worth observing.Written 20 September 2022
- Bozeman-Dublin0 contributionsExcellent Free MuseumOne of three interconnected museums all totally free to visit. Most people head for the Botero Nuseum, understandably so, but this one is interesting too and has dome lovely paintings and quirky sculptures, a mixture of the modern and historic, indigenous and colonial. Well worth a visit. A short walk, 2 or 3 minutes, from Plaza BolivarWritten 16 July 2022
- Michelle T0 contributionsNeat free museumThe museum is reachable from inside the Botero Museum, so we just wandered over after finishing up at the Botero Museum. There is some pretty cool artwork here and it's not a huge museum, so you don't need to allocate a lot of time to it. I appreciated that it was free - and it wasn't super busy when we visited on a Monday mid-morning.Written 17 June 2022
- TravelFromFrankfurt0 contributionsInteresting and impressiveDefinitely worth a visit. We aren't the usual art exhibition experts but really enjoyed our visit at this museum. This guy made some interesting and impressive art.Written 13 February 2022
- sandy c0 contributionsFantastic history of Colombian art. Don't forget upstairs! What an exhaustive history of post-contact art in Colombia. From the colonial era, to the European influences and local evolutions of the 20th century. From conservative and classical to the wild and crazy, all under one roof. This is an old but remodeled building, so to see everything you may have to backtrack, go up, down, around, and up the spiral stairs. Yes, there are more galleries up there even if there are no signs saying so. I only deduct a star as some sections (in my opinion) are kind of uninspired- 19 century portraiture anyone? Anyhow, it's free, interesting, and part of a complex with the Museo Botero and Casa Moneda.Written 29 March 2020
- phutty0 contributionsWell worth a couple of hours of your time in BogotáThis showcase of Colombian artists and artists with links to the country makes for a perfect follow-up to a visit to the Museo Botero, as it also features works by said artist while shining the spotlight on such local classics as Camargo, Zamora, Mendoza, Figueroa and Santa María. There is also an interesting and varied selection of more modern Colombian art.Written 27 February 2020
- viajera17410 contributionsright next to Botero MuseumThis art gallery is right next to the Botero and worth a visit for its eclectic collection of colonial excesses and works by contemporary artists.Written 7 February 2020
- Robert9370 contributionsModern Colombian art: limited overviewAfter visiting the marvelous Botero museum nearby, this modern art collection is a bit disappointing, because it is not as comprehensive as the Botero. The overview of modern Colombian art is limited. Presentation of various modern Colombian artists like Santiago Delgado, Alejandro Obregon, Omar Rayo and Luis Caballero to name just a few is restricted in amount or lacking. Of Caballero there are some stunning sketches of male nudes. Still well worth a visit.Written 14 December 2019
- 375lingl0 contributionsmust visitGreat experience in the museum, tour guide Carlos is very knowledgeable. The creativity of the local people in terms of carving, waxing, and use of gold is fascinating.Written 21 October 2019
- beroskii70 contributionsawesome paintings!so much art to see and interpret.. very nice adult drawings that will catch your eye. cool sculptures as well.Written 12 September 2019
