Overview
Explore two highlights outside of Bogota, Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral and Lake Guatavita, on this guided all-day tour from Bogota, which includes roundtrip transport. In addition to exploring subterranean Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral, enjoy a visit to the city of Zipaquirá for a traditional Colombian lunch. At Lake Guatavita, a crater lake known for its green color, learn about its connection to the legend of El Dorado.
What to Expect
After being picked up at your hotel, head to Zipaquirá to explore the city’s salt cathedral.

In Zipaquirá, learn about the history of salt in Colombia from your guide, while wandering around the underground Roman Catholic church that’s carved into the walls and ceiling of an abandoned salt mine. Then, enjoy a traditional Colombian lunch (vegetarian option available) in a local eatery in Zipaquirá, known as the “City of Salt.” Afterward, stroll the Plaza de la Independencia and the main square of Zipaquirá with colonial houses.

Following that, head to Lake Guatavita where your guide shares the legend of El Dorado and explains the significance of the green lagoon for Muisca Indians. Then, head to the colonial city of Guatavitá to explore further.

Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
