Inthanon Small-Group Day Trip from Chiang Mai with Lunch
Visit Doi Inthanon National Park, home to Thailand's highest mountain, on this day trip from Chiang Mai. You'll stop for photo ops at the peak, check out Angkha Nature Trail to enjoy the area's lush landscape, visit the Twin Stupas and a Hmong market, see a rice terrace, visit Vachiratharn Waterfall, and more. Lunch, entrance fees, and hotel transport are included.
What to Expect
Start the tour with morning pickup from your central Chiang Mai city hotel by a professional tour guide. You will be transported by air-conditioned van to the south of Chiang Mai, where you will head to Inthanon National Park, in the Jomthong District, passing different scenery including villages, communities, rice fields, fruits orchards, and more.

Upon arrival at Inthanon Mountain (also known as "The Roof of Thailand"), visit the highest summit of Thailand, 8415 feet (2,565 meters) above sea level. Find the remains of the previous king of Chiang Mai enshrined here; then, walk along the Angka Luang Natural trail to a lookout where you can enjoy the forest from above, covered with lichens and wild orchids. You might even catch a glimpse of some rare species of birds along the trail.

Continue the trip with a visit to the twin pagodas (Phra Mahathat Napha Methanidon and Phra Mahathat Naphaphon Bhumisiri), built for King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit to commemorate their fifth cycle birthdays. Each pagoda also enshrines Buddha’s relics. After exploring here, drive down the hill for lunch and make a short break to visit a local market, Hmong Market, where fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other local products are sold by the Hmong villagers. Lunch will be served at the Royal Project's restaurant, with the fresh vegetable from the king's Agricultural Project.  After lunch, you may have a chance to walk in the Agricultural Project site.

In the afternoon, visit Karen village, at the Mae Klang Luang village. Here, villagers make their living growing rice and the coffee. Visit the rice terrace and coffee orchard; then taste some fresh coffee, before continuing to Wachirathan Waterfall to enjoy the scenery.

Tour ends with return transfer to Chiang Mai, an approximately 1.5 to 2-hour drive depending on the traffic conditions. Upon arrival in Chiang Mai, you will be dropped off at your centrally located hotel.

They drive you to the summit, there is very little climbing/walking involved in this tour. I am not sure if you can attempt to summit it on your own
