Thailand history, culture and religion in a nutshlell!
We recommend it to anyone who wants to get to know the thailand history, culture and religion. The guide told great stories and answered all questions. Calm atmosphere and a good car and driver, it was a great day!

          Really special and memorable.
We were picked up on time at our accommodation in Bangkok and greeted by our very welcoming Thai guide, Ken. He and his driver went all out to provide us with a day to reflect on and remember. We were very comfortable in the vehicle and cold water and refreshments were supplied in an onboard esky. Ken was very organised, professional, efficient and caring. Not to mention his English skills and historical/geographical knowledge. The places we visited were heart-wrenching and Ken and his driver did their very best to cheer us up and care for us. The train ride was organised perfectly by Ken where we had window seats and he advised us where and when to look at sights of interest. You will not miss the train if Ken is your guide!! He also arranged a lovely lunch spot with a reserved table with a view of the rail line. Excellent. We asked to add some beer to the esky for the long return journey to Bangkok and this was cheerily accommodated. It was a long emotionally-charged day that was made special by the tour team from Amazing Asia. Thank you. The only thing we suggest you let future guests know is to wear suitable shoes to walk the Hell Fire Pass track. I had sandals on but would have worn sports shoes/runners if I’d known it was so uneven.

          Great experience!!
This was an amazing experience. Ken, our guide, went out of his way to make every part of the excursion tailored to suit our interests. He knew all the best places to stop, the best spots on the train for photos, and was just so lovely conveying the history of the trip and the importance of Hellfire pass (especially for Australian tourists). I would recommend this trip. Our driver and Ken made sure that we experienced everything (and you will never miss the train with Ken!).

Superb value - do not miss out
Where do u begin? 7am pick up at the hotel and on time to be met by our guide for the day Ken and our driver Yuri. A huge bonus for us was that we had our air con cooled mini coach to ourselves so there was plenty of room to stretch out. From the off Ken had a superb knowledge of WW2 and outlined the programme for our trip in great detail which laid the plans for the day and what a day it was. This trip is definitely value for money, drinks in the cooler, when we stopped for lunch we were treated to a spectacular feast of freshly cooked chicken and fried rice cold drinks and tasty spring rolls there are other options available such as fish. The train ride is an experience but with Ken’s know how you are guaranteed window seats which offer views and of course breeze in your face bearing in mind the temp was around 38degs. There are plenty of positives and if I had to offer something negative it was the massive traffic issues getting back into Bangkok - the patience of Ken/Yuri is admirable. Thank you to you both you are a credit to the company and I would recommend this trip to everyone - it’s a must and people should learn about the Japanese treatment of POWS and their awful punishment of commonwealth forces and locals. It’s on a par with the lessons of Auswich

An escape from the hustle of Bangkok
We went on 2 tours with Jill in January, both were excellent. We did the canals tour, which took you outside Bangkok and on the quiet waterways by a variety of boats and public transport, a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, it is actually longer than the billed half day, so is good value for money. We also visited Ayutthaya and bang pa in on a second day, a great way to see the ancient capital and it's ruins. Jill was an excellent and informative guide, thank you

This is a really good tour!
This was one of the very best tours that we did having spent nearly 3 weeks in Asia. First thing after breakfast 3 of us were met at our hotel on Sukhumvit 15 by Jill our guide. We then spent until late in to the afternoon doing a fascinating tour of the canal system around Bangkok. We travelled on 3 types of boats and really saw rural life well away from the masses of tourists. Jill took us to a local market where we got to sample various sweet snacks before we got to ride in motorised boats along the Khlong which was terrific fun. A delicious Thai lunch was taken on the river at a local restaurant where we got to meet the delightful owners and some other equally nice Thai guests. We also got to see some amazing buildings and learn their history so we rated this tour as really good value. Jill deserves a special mention, she was a wonderful guide who really knew her history of the places we visited. She took photos of us and offered advice on pretty much anything we wanted to ask relating to our holiday. A great ambassador for her company and a delightful person to spend the day with.

Amazing Asia Tours - Bridge over River Kwai recommendation
Amazing Asia tours recommendation My husband and I booked a private tour with Amazing Asia tours. https:// www.amazingasiatours.com/ thailand/central-thailand/ bangkok/erawan-waterfalls-and-bridge-over-the-river-kwai An emotive, moving, enthralling journey through a dark time for South East Asia. We were fortunate to have Ken as our guide who conveyed the stories and the suffering of so many with dignity, compassion and a historical knowledge of the time and events. A poignant and educational experience. Would recommend Amazing Asia Tours - and ask for Ken if you can.

Highlight of our Visit to Bangkok – Kwai Bridge and Hellfire Pass
As a military history enthusiast, visiting the Bridge on the River Kwai and the Death Railway has always been on my bucket list. Honestly, I never thought I’d have the chance to see it in person. So, during our visit to Bangkok, booking the Bridge over the River Kwai and Hellfire Pass with Train Ride Tour was one of the first things we did. Our decision to go with this operator was largely influenced by glowing reviews on TripAdvisor. Another key reason was the inclusion of Hellfire Pass in the itinerary – a site that should not be missed if you’ve come this far. Along with the new Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre, funded by the Australian government, it’s a deeply impactful experience and beautifully presented given the somber history. The tour operator promised to pick us up at our mid-town Bangkok hotel at 7:00 am. We were ready and waiting outside just before the appointed time when our guide (Tonya – apologies for not knowing the correct spelling) arrived. She greeted us warmly, confirmed our details, and ushered us into a spacious, air-conditioned van. As it turned out, we were the only couple who booked the tour that day, making the experience feel like a private excursion with our own guide and driver. It was a genuine privilege. During the journey, Tonya shared fascinating insights about local customs, traditions, and culture. She was more than happy to answer our many questions about everything from schools and food to social norms. Meanwhile, our driver kept his focus on the road, ensuring a safe and comfortable ride. Kudos to him for his professionalism! Our first stop was the JEATH Museum, which features a replica of the prisoner enclosures used during the railway’s construction. The museum also includes maps and detailed accounts of the railway’s history. Next, we visited the beautifully maintained Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, the final resting place for many young POWs who perished during the railway’s construction. Standing there amidst the rows of graves was a truly solemn and moving moment. Then came the highlight: the iconic bridge and a train ride along the Death Railway. The natural beauty of the area took us by surprise; the scenery was absolutely stunning. The bridge itself is fascinating, especially when you learn about the prisoners’ harrowing construction efforts. The center spans, built with flat-top box trusses, contrast with the curved-top trusses of the remaining bridge. This difference is due to Allied bombing during the war, which destroyed the bridge’s center. It was rebuilt after the war, preserving its historical significance. The train ride, covering approximately 20 miles, was delightful. We enjoyed scenic views of local farms, including fields of tapioca, a popular crop in the region. The train was packed with tourists, adding to the lively atmosphere. Our next destination was Hellfire Pass and the excellent museum built by the Australian government. The museum offers a deeper understanding of the construction methods, hardships, and tragic deaths endured by the prisoners. A short walk down the steps leads to the old railway bed and Hellfire Pass itself. Walking through the pass was a deeply emotional experience; you could almost feel the presence of those who suffered there. It’s a must-visit site and a stark reminder of why this entire project is considered a war crime by the Empire of Japan. On our way back, we made a quick stop at a nearby waterfall for some photos before returning to our hotel. While the day was long, it was worth every moment. The tour was impeccably organized and delivered a rich and meaningful experience. Highly recommended!

          Hellfire & Kwai tour
Fantastic, very emotional tour, the guide Kent and driver Sake were excellent. The information supplied by Kent throughout the tour was fascinating & informative. Kent knows where to be at the right time for photo opportunities. Lunch was good. I would highly recommend booking a private tour with this company, you will not be disappointed it is like being shown around by a local friend.

          Great Experience 🇵🇭🇬🇧
Had an amazing day with our tour guide Ken & driver Ywon, we couldn't wish for a better service. Ken speaks very good english and he is very informative with his outstanding knowledge & understanding about the history. We felt very safe with Ywon’s driving as he is not an aggressive driver. The car was clean and comfortable too. Both are very polite, punctual & very accommodating. We would Highly recommend to look for them both when booking the tour.

          Waste of money and time
The worst tour we’ve ever been on. Our tour guide clearly didn’t care whether we were enjoying ourselves. Her vocabulary seemed to consist of no more than 100 words, which she repeated for hours on end. To make matters worse, she wore a face mask that covered her face from below the eyes to under her chin, and large sunglasses that made the entire experience feel bizarre. She was completely incapable of walking and talking at the same time. We frequently stopped in the middle of nowhere to listen to the same 100 words, often standing in +40°C heat with no shade. She made no effort to find shade or to walk and talk simultaneously, which made the tour physically exhausting. The experience was boring, non-educational, and frustratingly slow. It’s taken me more than six months to process this and write a review, but I can confidently say this was the worst tour my spouse and I’ve ever attended.

Our tour guide, Kanthad, made our experience visiting these significant sites more memorable, thanks to his depth of historical knowledge and excellent English. He was also punctual and flexible in considering our interests in each of the sites visited.

          really great private tour
I went on this tour with my husband in November, and I highly recommend it. We were picked up from our hotel in the morning-- our guide, Lucky, was waiting in the lobby. We had a big van to ourselves, so the journey out to Ayutthaya was very comfortable. Lucky was a really great guide. I highly recommend her. She spoke English really well and was very knowledgeable about all the sites we visited. She also gave us a lot of insight into Thai society, culture, history, and spoke in depth with us on many topics that interested us, beyond just the attractions we were seeing. We really felt like we learned so much about Thailand from her. Lucky would also identify good photo spots and take pictures for us, which I really appreciated. Our driver (unfortunately, I don't remember his name), was super friendly and an excellent driver. He was always quick to rush out to open the door for us and always had ice cold bottles of water ready for us when we got back into the van. As for the attractions themselves, we went to every place listed on the tour, and felt like we had an adequate amount of time to enjoy it all. The tour included a lunch and we were able to choose whatever we wanted on the menu offered. We thought the food was quite good. Definitely a worthwhile day trip from Bangkok, especially if you are interested in ruins, and if you have a day to spare. I would totally choose the private tour again!
