Beautiful Day in the Kitchen
Mar 2020
My mum and I recently spent some time in Kathmandu and spent an afternoon cooking with Kalpana and Shekhar. We had such a wonderful time and learnt so much, even my mum had a great time and she is not one who usually likes to cook!! Thank you for having us in your home and for all the laughs. Sending love from Australia.

Nepali dal bhat and momos cookery all from scratch
Dec 2019
A truly magical and memorable experience of preparing and cooking Nepali dal bhat and momos all from scratch with Kalpana and her daughter Sachiko. Collected promptly from our hotel in Thamel and driven the short distance out to Kalpana's home. Step by step we went through preparing and cooking all the elements of a dal bhat, Kalpana there to guide us through each stage and Sachiko providing translation where necessary. After eating our truly delicious dal bhat feast we set on preparing the equally tasty momo's.

Last memory of the day, other than the truly delicious food was Kalpana's beaming, warm and utterly infections smile. If you want to learn dal bhat + momo while visiting Kathmandu then this is the place.

Spectacular cooking course
A truly incredible experience being welcomed into Kalpana’s home and learning to cook a delicious dal bhat and momo’s.
We did this for Christmas Day - a day we shall always remember as it was a delight to learn from Kalpana, and so much find She is really kind, sweet, and gives you lots of informative instructions and the flavours / ingredients were all amazing!
We came away full to the brim so make sure you don’t have breakfast before you arrive - you shall need the space!
We look forward to making the dishes on our return to the U.K.

Fantastic experience
Nov 2019 • Couples
After a short drive with the car that picked us up we arrived at Kalpana’s and her family’s home. We were warmly welcomed and started with making our own Masala tea to kickoff the cooking workshop. After that we made Dahl Bath, which was very delicious and explained in a clear and relaxed way so we could thoroughly understand every step in the process. We had a small tour around the property and shown the beautiful Eco hotel that the family runs next door, a great place to relax and hide from the busy streets of Kathmandu. Unfortunately, we couldn’t cancel our current reservation in thamel else we would have definitely stayed there. After the tour we learned how to make momos, which again was explained very well and the final result tasted heavenly.
We both loved this day so much. Kalpana and her family are great hosts and make you feel part of a Nepali family for half a day. Everything during the cooking workshop was done in consult to our wishes, and she was more than happy to answer all of our questions during the cooking process. It was an experience we will never forget and we would recommend it to everybody looking for an authentic cooking workshop! Thank you so much for the hospitality and amazing day Kalpana + family !!

A must do!
Oct 2019 • Couples
We had an amazing time at Kalpana's learning how to cook both, Dal Bhat and Momos. We would definitely repeat and recommend it. Kalpana and her husband were sweet, friendly and welcoming which made us enjoy our time there. They also have a lovely guest house with nice rooms that we'd recommend to escape from the hectic rythm of Katmandu city center.

Wonderful afternoon cooking with a family!
Oct 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class. The driver picked us up promptly. The cooking class was excellent. Kalpana and her family were so warm and engaging. They were kind and patient, and went above and beyond to make sure that we had a good time. They took us on a walk through their garden and showed us their homestay accommodations. Kalpana has a wonderful smile and laugh. The food was really delicious too! Cannot rate it high enough.

Unforgettable, delectable experience
Can’t say enough good things about our day in Kirtipur with Kalpana and family. Felt right at home cooking, learning, chopping and laughing in their kitchen and dining room. We made dal bhat with 6 sides and momos. All delicious for vegetarians and omnivores alike. Wonderful family, beautiful home in a gorgeous setting. A very special day.

More than a cooking class!
Sep 2019
This authentic Nepali experience began and highlighted our one month stay in this amazing country. Your adventure begins with an “otherworldly” drive through the streets of Katmandu into the foothills above the valley. An excellent driver stops and directs you down a dirt path where this wonderful day awaits. We were greeted into the family’s home and gardens. Our group of four proceeded from total an ignorance of Nepali spices and cooking, to leaving confident in our knowledge and understanding. Our host and teacher engaged each of us in the process of preparation and enjoying the incredible flavors and presentation for all the foods. Laughter and learning marked the whole time together. Even today I marvel at the incredible privilege to be invited into a Nepali kitchen, to cook shoulder to shoulder, to see the family life displayed on their fridge, to explore the family garden and hear their hearts for Nepal. As a traveler who strives to experience home life, this went beyond all expectations.
