- ryanc30 contributionsVery interestingWent on this tour with a guide called Linda, who showed me around the township and her community, and even where she currently resides it really opened my eyes to how people cope in different situations and environments, but most importantly all these people still smile. Do this kind of tour whenever you can.Written 14 January 2025

- probs130 contributionsGreat bar sceneWhere do I start. Linda was amazing. Very resourceful and knowledgeable. Knew a lot of great spots and what to recommend. I’m glad I got to get a first hand look of bars I wouldn’t even stop to if I was on my own. Lots of grey hole in the wall places. I felt safe and people were very friendly. I definitely recommend this.Written 14 July 2024

- HRPDUser0 contributionsA chance to see KatuturaThis was a great way to spend a morning in Windhoek. Without a guide there is not a lot to see in Windhoek and getting away from the city centre is worthwhile. As the only person on the tour we went at my pace and had time to enjoyWritten 1 May 2023
- rebeccawL5161AO0 contributionsTraditional cooking classThis was a wonderful cultural experience! We were able to cook and eat traditional Namibian food and also learn a lot about the country (thanks to Linda who is incredibly knowledgeable). We really enjoyed chatting with the ladies and are so grateful to have been welcomed into their home :) this is a must do if visiting Windhoek as you can see what life is like outside of the heart of the city, highly recommend.Written 7 April 2023

My wife and I extended the cooking class (which was held in the afternoon) by arranging a city tour of Windhoek followed by a tour of the Katatura Township with Anchor Adventures Namibia in the morning (obviously at extra cost). The entire day was outstanding and I highly recommend it.
We were met by the delightful Linda and she was our host for the day. I won’t comment on the city tour and the township tour in this review since this is meant to be a review of the cookery class, other than to say that making a complete day of the Windhoek experience was well worth it and Linda was welcoming, interesting and extremely informative.
After the township tour Linda drove us to her cousin’s home where the cookery class was held. We were made very welcome and it was a great experience to cook and then eat a traditional Namibian meal which was extremely delicious.
After enjoying an amazing safari experience in Namibia, don’t rush for the airport and leave the country. Stay an extra day or two and enjoy Windhoek. With that in mind, I strongly recommend this culinary experience.

What a wonderful way to get to know everyday Namibians. We had a lovely time cooking and socialising with our wonderful women guides. Sharing each other’s cooking music, dancing and chatting about our lives. The food was amazingly delicious, The chicken tasted like none other and the mopani worms were the best in Africa.

Linda was such a great guide, explaining about the history, food, culture with personal stories and also asking about us and what we came to Namibia for. She is very knowledgeable and personable. The cooking was very interesting with explanations and joking. Love the mahangu pap and spinach! All was good but that was the best.

This is a private class for solo, couple and small group. Linda my instructor was delightful and showed me how to cook pap, fish, chicken, a spinach based stew and mopane worms. There is a vegetarian option. We ate together with our hands and Linda also spoke of life in Namibia. A great introduction to Namibian culture and food.
A visit to the market to buy the ingredients would have added to the whole experience.

Thank you ladies for welcoming us into your home for this wonderful experience. We cooked wild spinach, fish, chicken, pap and mopane worms - everything was delicious and you can also try some local beer. This was more than just cooking because we were also able to see the local township and learn a lot from Linda about Namibia and the local people, she was so knowledgeable and helpful. The class took place in the late afternoon and lasted around 3 hours, they are also able to prepare vegetarian food if requested beforehand. I highly recommend this experience, it is the best thing to do in Windhoek - don't miss it!

I had a very nice time with a lovely guide, the place was different then the one on the pictures but still a safe and welcoming place. Cooking those unique local meals and sharing this moment with the guide and chefs was really nice. I would suggest an open-mind and some curiosity. Great time.

What an awesome experience! I loved my guide Linda, who taught me so much about traditional Namibian food and culture. I had the experience to myself so we got to learn a lot about each other, and I got personalized instruction for preparing traditional food, including fried fish, spinach, pap, and mopane worms (don’t be scared!). We were joined by Iyaloo, who owned the chicken, and had a delightful meal with each other. This was my first experience in Namibia and it got my trip off to a great start!

I loved this homely cooking experience. We got to know about the different products of Namibia and finally cooked some of the local delicacies. Valentina was an just amazing cook and answered any question. Everyone made us feel welcome in their home and we enjoyed our meals together while learning about life nowadays in Namibia. Anyone who wants to experience a real and simultaneously traditional experience should definitely book a tour with Lubowski and Sacky.

I was picked up from my location by Linda, who is such a friendly and inviting individual! I was solo when I did this but it was certainly not a lonely experience. There were many people in the kitchen helping me and striking up conversation. It was such a welcoming environment. I got to try Namibian cuisine that you wouldn't find in most restaurants. I got to meet the owner's daughter who was also a delight! There were many laughs shared over our food and wine. I would recommend this excursion to anyone visiting :)
