- E5054RAfatimab0 contributionsA day in Berbere regionSalão arranged all and we did a tour with a private can and the guide was Abdul. The tour was amazing and in Ourika we could experience the local way of living while enjoying the beautiful landscape. The Ourika Guide also called Abdul was excellent in making the visits so pleasant. Lunch, by the river was amazing and cooked perfectly.Written 8 December 2024
- alann60 contributionsGood day tripWe had a private bespoke tour to Ourika valley and Imli . The driver Mohamed was very helpful, and concerned for our safety. The private people-carrier was clean, air conditioned and new. It was a better price than our Riad offered. We did not want to walk to the falls or see the "berber home" or the "carpet shop/ terrace view" which he readily agreed. He suggested an excellent cafe for lunch by the river at Ourika. We then backtracked and cut across to Imli in the next valley. This village was crowded, with nowhere to park, so glad we had lunch earlier. however, the drive up is twisty & has good views. Back in Marrakesh by 5pm after a 09.30 start. A lot of driving , but Mohamed was always relaxed and careful with traffic.Written 23 November 2024
- asaaheim0 contributionsCamel ride at sunset in Agafay, with dinner and showDeparture at about five o'clock (PM) from the taxi stop close to our Riad.About 45 minutes' drive to Agafay, a little mint tea and waiting before we were assigned to each of our dromedaries (!). Yeah, they're not camels. But they certainly get the job done regardless. After redressing (with protective kaftans to protect our clothing) we, rather ungraciously, climbed our respective means of transportation. After quite a bit of rocking and softly moving accross the desert landscape, with multiple stops for photos, the sun started to set and the light was fantastic. The guide was good at helping with taking pictures and video while on this part of the trip. Back at the base, there was a show with music and fun, and tajines with traditional Moroccan food were served to all the groups of the afternoon. The servings were rather large, so consider sharing with your friend. The low/floor tables may be somewhat challenging to sit and eat at, but we braved through it all. After dinner, the show continued, and lastly we were returned to Marrakech around 21:30 at night.Written 9 July 2024
- asaaheim0 contributionsA great trip through the Atlas mountains with a very skilled driver and interesting sights to seeDeparture from the taxi stand (3 mins from our Riad) at 8:30 in the morning. We drove towards Tichka, 2662 m. Followed by numerous hairpin turns, quite the elevation gain and heavy traffic of tourists going up and over the mountain pass. The driver was very skilled and made the turns smoothly, and it was as if he knew every bump in these roads. The roads were exceptionally good most of the way, and at one point, asphalt was being laid as we passed! Just before Tichka there was a stop at a favorable vantage point for photography and a restroom break before the trip went to another lookout point with rock sellers and violent winds. The wind jerked our hands when we tried to take pictures, so hold on to your hats! Arriving at the Äit Ben Haddou Kasbah,we got (after a stern warning from our driver not to buy anything because it was all fake goods). We had a local guide assigned and crossed over a dried riverbed where there would normally be about 2 meters depth. The brave amongst us got to try olives off the branch (bitter!!!) There were also "greenery"; olive groves, date palms, figs and apricots, but little vegetables because of the saltiness of the water in the river (from the salt mines further up the Atlas mountains). Some parts of the kashba had suffered damage during the last earthquake, but most of it was intact. The Kasbah is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Interestingly, several of the the inner kashbas are inhabited by private families to this day. Inside the Kasbah, the big stair climb began - hundreds of steps of stairs to get to the very top of the Kasbah. But so worth it; at the top there was a small watchtower they called Agadir and valuables were also stored here in the old days. The view was amazing! The Kasbah was followed by lunch. We chose to go to a nearby restaurant rather then go with the program, as that lunch was a proper tourist machine with what seemed like rather dull servings. This was not a problem, and after finding our driver, we continued in our quest. The journey continued towards Quarzazate, but there was also a very short stop at Atlas Studios. In Quarzazate we thus only had time for a 20 minute stop, but we did manage to get slightly lost in the maze. The long drive back to Marrakech began, and we were back at the taxi stand just after the 20:00 hours.Written 9 July 2024
- Phillip W0 contributionsExcellent trip to Atlas MountainsWe had a private tour to Ourikavalley for 4 people. The Berber driver was very helpful, spoke good English and provided us was very knowledgeable. The private minibus was clean, air conditioned and fairly new. We had a private qualified guide to take us around the valleys and to the waterfalls. He was very knowledgeable, spoke good English and was very respectful. Ended our stay in the valley with a lovely meal by the river. Despite looking very touristy the food was excellent. We choose to sit on cushions by the river with a beautiful view.Written 29 June 2024
- laalchi-sunil0 contributionsAtlas Baloon Camel Quads OurikaWe were four of us, two couples- myself, my wife, a friend and his wife- we had five days in Marrakesh on the first night we bumped into Salah excursions and met Taufiq who was extremely helpful. He designed a plan for us to visit all the highlights around Marrakesh, his service was excellent. He was contactable throughout And gave us some helpful tips he was punctual and the price was very competitive. I will highly recommend a trip to Atlas mountain orca Valley balloon ride, camel ride and quad bike ride. Although the quads bike is not in desert, it is in a slightly rough terrain, therefore research it a bit more before signing up to it , overall service of salah excursions was extremely good The best part for our group was shopping in the markets, the balloon ride and peaceful time in the RiadWritten 13 April 2024
- 20paulav0 contributionsOutika good, Ait Ben Haddou driver never showed upWe booked via our Riad 2 tours. 1 to Ourika waterfall and 1 to Ait Ben Haddou. The first one was very good. A good driver. When we went half way a guide stept in to the bus. He was also very good en and a nice man. It was an excellent day. Two days later we should have a tour to Ait Ben Haddou. But the driver never showt up. After an hour waiting i hour Riad Salah tours called that the Riad and they told us that the tour did not went on because the Road was closed. So we did the trip next day by anaother company. In our group then there was another couple with exactly the same story. But they were waiting for the driver and he never showed up. There was not the story about a road that was was closed. However. The tour to Ourika valley was very nice. The one to Ait Ben Haddou the driver did not show up and there was no compensation.Written 20 January 2024
