Overview
Exploring Morocco’s Atlas Mountains and Sahara desert from Marrakech without a guide risks missing out on hidden places and even getting lost. Experience all the musts and more while learning about local history and culture on this 3-day trip. See Tizi-n-Tichka, the Dades Valley, and Ait Benhaddou, and ride camels to and from a Saharan overnight camp. Minivan transport, some meals, and optional upgrade to a deluxe desert tent included.
What to Expect
Book your preferred tour option and start your 3-day adventure with pickup from your Marrakech accommodation. Then, settle inside your shared, air-conditioned minivan and travel into the Atlas Mountains, passing Berber villages, orchards, and rugged valleys.

After crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, visit the UNESCO-listed medieval fortified town of Ait Benhaddou kasbah before taking in the desert oasis of Skoura and staying overnight at Boumalne du Dades.

On the second day, trace the Road of 1,000 Kasbahs to Tinghir, and walk through an oasis to the spectacular Todra Gorge. After lunch at a local café and an afternoon visit to the holy city of Rissani, travel on to Merzouga on the fringes of the Sahara desert.

Then, take a late-afternoon camel trek toward Erg Chebbi, where you'll spend the night at a desert camp and enjoy dinner and local live music under the stars. Your final day begins with a stroll in the dunes and a desert breakfast before a return camel ride to Merzouga and journey back via Ouarzazate and the High Atlas to Marrakech, where your trip ends at the starting point.

This was a very unique experience for us and the highlight was the upgraded camel ride and 'glamping' desert portion of the tour. We agree with many other reviewers that the upgrade was worth it however... in our situation we arrived at camp a short...More
