- AreWilson0 contributionsWonderful sunrise balloon experienceAn exceptional experience and a must see when visiting Marrakech. Picked up on time from our hotel by a friendly driver and other holiday makers, we arrived on site for a quick breakfast before being taken to the balloons. Such a majestic sight as they began their ascent. Our pilot Francois was charming and funny, putting everyone at ease. The snow capped mountains and sunrise were serene and the experience was so special. After a gentle landing and certificate of attendance, we had a delicious Berber breakfast before being dropped off at our hotel, ready to start the day. We can’t recommend highly enough!Written 7 December 2024
- Go7507840 contributionsThe only trip to bookThe most amazing experience, from start to finish and totally recommend to anyone reading this review. We were texted via WhatsApp the night before for pick-up time and were picked up outside our riad. The driver was very friendly and looked after us the whole time we were there. We arrived at the camp in pitch dark with a warm lite fire and a cosy moroccan vibe. We ate delicious pastries and drank hot tea or coffee while sitting either under the cosy canopies or round the fire. There were also toilets if needed, and friendly dogs roaming around which we loved. We had to go on a short drive to set up the hot air ballons and WOW watching them go up was amazing, they have a big team of guys help set up and a big well done to them also. We climb into the basket and the pilot released lots of hot air which was really nice as it was very cold at that time of morning. We all had to get down low in the basket whilst it took up into the air only for a minute, and it felt incredible when we saw we were going up into the sky. Our pilot made me feel calm and safe. He was also very funny! You get a certificate at the end and even a selfie. We headed back to camp for more tea and breakfast. This was excellent value for money and the best service from the team of people who run it. Well done 👏 I now want to continue flying hot air ballons. If your visiting marrakech, this trip is a must.Written 5 December 2024
- alexbowen30 contributionsA Magical Sunrise Over the Atlas Mountains 🌄🎈Our hot air balloon ride with Marrakech By Air was an absolutely unforgettable experience! Watching the sunrise over the breathtaking Atlas Mountains was truly magical—a moment our family will cherish forever. The early hotel pick-up was well-organised, and we were greeted with food and refreshments before the flight, which was a thoughtful touch. After the flight, we enjoyed a delicious traditional breakfast that made the experience even more special. Our pilot was amazing—skilful, knowledgeable, and full of humour, making us feel safe and entertained throughout the journey. The entire operation was smooth, professional, and so well-run. If you’re in Marrakech, this is a must-do activity. We would 100% recommend booking this trip—it’s a one-of-a-kind experience you won’t want to miss!Written 2 December 2024

- SJG970 contributionsAn unforgettable proposal above the cloudsFrom the first contact with Hamid via WhatApp right up until the drop off back at the hotel, we were made to feel like loyalty and we were the only ones that mattered. I had planned to propose to my now fiancé, and the team, and crew involved in our private flight couldn’t have been more accommodating or done enough to make it the most memorable day of our lives. We were picked up promptly from our hotel just outside Marrakesch and welcomed at camp with morrocan tea, and then driven to the take off location where we watched our ballon being inflated. The team and crew were able to capture the moment on video and shared edited photos and videos with us afterwards. Our pilot Moshin was superb, he explained about the Atlas Mountains and answered our questions about balloon flying. This was also our first time in Marrakech and will not be our last, this is now our special place, thank you to all at Marrakech By Air for a truly unforgettable experience. We will forever be in debt to you all. If you are reading this and confused about all the different companies that offer balloon rides like I was, BOOK THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE THE VERY BEST IN MARRAKECH!Written 1 December 2024
- mariemarie740 contributionsThe most amazing experienceThe most amazing experience. Early pick up from the hotel took to the site. Offered coffee, juice and croissants. Was a lot of waiting around then back in the transport for a short ride to the balloons. Got to watch them being inflated then we all got in and up we went. Wow. View's absolutely amazing. Got to see the sunrise and all the other balloons in the sky. The pilots were amazing. Making jokes which was nice and played some music, a nice touch. Then down and transport waiting to take us back to the tents for a traditional breakfast. From start to finish the whole experience was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this company.Written 20 November 2024
- Nina N0 contributionsOne of the best experiences!Honestly, one of the best experiences of ever had. The organization of the trip was very good. You arrive at the camp to coffee, croissants and orange juice. The camp ist very cozy and clean. After that you’ll get to experience the the set up of the Ballons before you go up in the air. The view was amazing and our pilot Lina was THE BEST. Had music and board and endless opportunities to take pictures of the sunrise as the ballon rotates in the air, so everyone get’s the same experience. Thank you so much! We had an amazing time! :)Written 18 November 2024
- derg220 contributionsAmazing sunrise hot air balloon experience! This was absolutely amazing! Our driver, crew and shout out to our pilot Lina. A fantastic experience and professionalism (and comedy) from our pilot put us all at ease. The views were spectacular and so well timed for sunrise. Couldn’t recommend more!Written 18 November 2024
- E2300QEemmad0 contributionsBalloon Trip To RememberMagical morning. Absolute highlight of our trip to Marrakesh. 5.15 am pick up was well worth it to arrive in good time for sunrise over Atlas Mountains. Well organised, good comms from Hamid regarding pick up, fantastic pilot Sancho. Back at the Riad by 11 am to make the most of the afternoon.Written 17 November 2024
- Tour170039520080 contributionsnot with Marrakech By AirWe booked a hot air balloon ride for 5 people with hotel pickup at 6:00 AM to see the sunrise from the hot air balloon. The night before we were called that we would be picked up at 07:00 instead of 06:00. We were picked up at 6 in an almost new, flawless minibus. We went to another pickup point to pick up two other people. Here, since the two people did not come, all 5 of us in the minibus waited for almost 30 minutes, even though the reservation says that the driver waits only 5 minutes. Now the driver told us not to hurry because anyway we were flying on the second flight and not the first, although we had a reservation and had paid for 06.00. I arrived at the location, the balloons were in the air, the sun had risen. I changed the driver, who drove about 40 minutes through the desert following the balloon in which we were supposed to fly. He confused the balloons, we got lost, in the end we reached our balloon. We rose up to about 400 m, but it was a static flight of about 30-40 minutes because we floated in an area of about 2000 square meters, so basically it wasn't flying, but floating. When descending, the pilot tried to put the nacelle on the trailer of the car that was going to transport it, but he didn't succeed and it kind of shook us. Very good Berber breakfast, welcoming hosts. When leaving for the hotel, although everyone else left with the cars they came with, we were taken in an all-terrain vehicle that was used in the desert to the place of ascent or descent from the balloon where the dust and sand from the desert enters. At one point, there was more sand and dust inside the car than outside. The experience of flying with a balloon is sensational, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by Marrakech by Air.Written 13 November 2024
- Marcus M0 contributionsAmazing!!!Well organised, wonderful experience. I only booked the night before, but the communication was great, pick up on time, great Berber breakfast, before and after the balloon flight. All the crew very professional, and the pilot was full kf wise cracks and fitting music. I still found time to enjoy the amazing views and serenity, and rate it as one of my all time favourite experiencesWritten 11 November 2024
- JandR90 contributionsBeautiful sunrise and an amazing experience in the hot air balloonThis was an amazing experience from start to finish. We called the driver the day before and he dropped us a pin for our pick up as you can’t drive to where we are staying. He was so friendly. We were greeted with coffee and pastries on arrival at the beautiful camp. Then off to the balloon . I have done a balloon ride before but this was 100% better. The sunrise was amazing with the Atlas Mountains behind. The pilot was brilliant , very fun with a smooth ride and landing . They took lots of photos and videos for us to remember the experience. Would highly recommend especially the sun rise trip .Written 9 November 2024

- L9307KValisonl0 contributionsLoved the balloon ride but not the lack of organisation!I booked this trip well in advance but had to confirm the pick up time with the driver the day before the trip. This proved difficult as the driver did not speak any English. I finally got through to Hamid, who asked us to wait for the driver at a famous landmark near our Riad at 6am. The driver was 15 mins late and had two more pick ups to do. He then parked at the side of the road in the dark for another 20 minutes with no explanation, before dropping us for a makeshift grab what you can from a few pastries and unlabelled pots of coffee in the dark. We were surrounded by confused people watching all the balloons rise in the distance without us on board as the sun rose. Eventually our driver found us and gestured to get back into the vehicle where we were now to join the second flight of the day. The “spacious” balloon basket was already full of people when we finally got there, but they crammed us all in. It was such a squeeze that we couldn’t even squat for take off and landing as there was no room. The pilot was lovely and once in the air we enjoyed the experience and the music. It would have been nice to have the space to take more pictures of each other amid the stunning backdrop, but I guess we will just have to make do with our memories. We did not receive the flight certificate and the Berber breakfast was fun but not very tasty! While I absolutely recommend doing the balloon flight, I’d go with a different provider. Not Marrakech by Air!Written 4 November 2024

The entire trip ran very smoothly from pick up at 0640 to being back at our Riad before midday.
The balloon ride was amazing, our pilot was hilarious and had all 16 of us in our balloon entertained up in the sky. The views are spectacular so we have great photos of the other balloons floating around us with the Atlas mountains as a backdrop whilst we flew over the Berber villages.
The traditional breakfast afterwards was great and good to sit with others and chat, the hot donuts were a hit as it was very chilly early morning however it's a lot warmer up in the air with the heat from the balloon!
After a short drive to the camel park we lined up for the ride which was good fun and they are the most lovely gentle creatures so it was great to stroke them and give them some attention which I'm not sure they receive much of poor things.
Definitely recommend the trip, a fantastic experience and one never to be forgotten!

Absolutely incredible experience, I genuinely couldn't fault a single thing! Our first booking was cancelled sadly due to high winds but the staff were amazing at getting us rebooked for a couple of days later and ensured we were still about to go, they even remembered our names when we went back 2 days later! Our pilot was amazing, chatting and making sure she took some great pictures of us throughout the flight. Watching the sunrise and seeing all the other balloons around us was absolutely magical.
The breakfast afterwards was great and we were given plenty of food and tea served in a beautiful tent. The camel ride at the end was also great fun and a good added extra compared to other hot air balloon tours we saw that didn't include this.
It may seem quite expensive compared to other excursions in Marrakech but honestly it was worth every penny. Everyone should experience this once in a lifetime trip whilst here!

One of the best experiences I've ever had. From start to finish was seamless. They sent us a message the day before telling us when to be outside our hotel, Picked us up on time explained what was going to happen and delivered. The breakfast was delicious and the hot air balloon experience itself was exceptional. Camel ride was pretty cool too. For any nervous travellers, you don't need to be with these guys. What a well oiled machine! Would 100% recommend
Thank you for once in a lifetime opportunity!

I won't lie - it was ***early*** but definitely worth it. Had never done this before so I was apprehensive about the whole "up in a balloon" situation but the captain made the whole trip brilliant, literally (as the sun came up over the Atlas) and figuratively (as she started playing "here comes the sun" just as the sun crested the mountains. She also made for a very smooth ride and a very smooth landing, and yes, *she* which made it even more awesome and i think made my daughter really take notice. Way to go Captain Wafia!! <3 The coffee and pastries before was a bit chaotic (but it might have been just the ridiculously early morning) and the breakfast after seemed rushed, but it didn't detract. Transport to and from the ride was smooth and comfortable and the guys at Marrakesh by Air were on organizing the pickup and drop off.
My only quibble was that we were supposed to go into one balloon (one with a smaller basket) only to be pulled out and moved to one with more people at the very last minute and with no explanation which was somewhat annoying. The camel ride was... it was a camel ride in what amounted to a suburban field of palm trees pretty much in a circle on the side of the road. On the other hand, we paid for the balloon ride, the "camel ride" was mostly a very cheap addon and if you don't have another chance to get close to camels, this is as good an opportunity as any.
We did very much enjoy our experience and would do it again in a second.

Perfect from start to finish.
We received phone call day before to confirm pick up time. Driver was on time, very polite, well mannered, funny and professional (would recommend for other trips as well)
When we get to the balloon start point we had amazing coffee with cardamom and chocolate croissant.
Hot air balloon flight was breath taking. Totally worth the money, take a minute put your phone down and enjoy the view, it’s so peaceful and relaxing, music was matching the filling for sure. Our pilot was so nice, answered every question, he just knew what he is doing.
Breakfast was simple with tasty Moroccan mint tea.
Camel ride was so funny,
This camels know what they are doing ;)
All trip was just great
Truly recommended ❤️

This was the highlight of our trip to Marrakech. This was not a cheap outing but every element was well organised starting with a very early pick up, transport out to the desert and coffee, juice and pastries. Then a transfer to the take off point. There are numerous companies using the same location so don't expect a private experience but it is none the worse for that. The flight was spectacular and, notwithstanding the vagaries of the wind, our pilot manouvered us into amazing spots for a good picture of the sunrise. We landed and transferred back to a lovely Berber breakfast of pastries, olives and mint tea. Then on to the camel ride! This was pretty much as you might expect, basically a donkey ride on camels but with dressing up thrown in! but still fun!

The ticket says 0600 but depending on how many people have booked they may tell you earlier so that you carpool with other groups.
They take you to the dessert and you get to experience a bedouin looking tent with coffee etc.
Then you have the balloon ride which fits 12 people. It's a bit snug so you'll need to bear that in mind. The pilot was a Swiss lady who was excellent. Got a good view of the sunrise but no atlas mountain view due to wind movements. You're in the air for about 30 mins. You get a certificate at the end. The team members are very enthusiastic and take great imagery on your behalf.
Then they bring you back for a breakfast of various breads and Moroccan tea.
They then take you camel riding. It can be a bit scary but overall pretty relaxed. Just don't kick the camel when you get on it. Lasts approximately 10 mins.
They then take you home in the order that you arrived. Whole thing finished around 9:30am. Long time considering I was made to be ready at my resort at 04:50 for their carpooling thing.
Overall, it was a great romantic experience. Don't expect too much and it is a bit pricey. I would recommend booking directly with companies rather than on this site. Go to your hotel and organise it.

This 5 hour trip run by a very efficient team, offers an experience beyond expectation. Although very cold this time of year, soon after arriving we forgot about that! I had no idea there would be another 11 balloons setting off at the same time. This was absolutely amazing seeing them all around the sky set against the Atlas Mountains and the sunrise. Very well mannered staff and brilliant humor along the way....highlight of our vacation for sure! Well done and thank you!

We arose at the early hours of 6:30 for a 7am pickup for our ‘sunrise’ hot air balloon journey. The car arrived on time but to our surprise there was already people occupying the front two rows. This meant that I, a 6’3” individual was forced into the very tight back seats for about 45 minutes. By the time we arrived the sun had already risen and we were rather surprised to see about 40 fellow people there.
After making use of the toilet facilities and having a croissant (unfortunately all of the orange juice had run out by the time we arrived) we were ready to take off. The atmosphere of the ‘camp’ was very much starting to die down as we reached almost 2 hours of waiting for the balloon with no communication, causing us to question by we were up quite so early!
Then we were forced to climb into the balloon at just over 1m high where 6 of us (strangers) were crammed into a small quarter of the basket like sardines. The flight, accompanied by the lovely Adele, was about 20 mins and was fine, allbeit very confined.
After the balloon ride, at around 11 am, we returned to the ‘camp’ area for breakfast which was delightful however once again in the company of strangers. From there we headed to our camel ride experience, we got into the car and drove to what seemed less like a dessert and more like a dirt track for camel riding, however this was fine for a quick 10 minute saunter.
My grandmother decided not to partake in the camel riding and instead befriended our lovely driver, Ali, who I must say went absolutely above and beyond by remaining in contact throughout and after our holiday, THANK YOU ALI! We then returned to our beautiful hotel and called it a day.
In conclusion, whilst tour expectations could be better managed, we did feel we had a wonderful day, to which would I do it again now knowing what I went through, yes. But hopefully with a few tweaks.
Thank you to Ali and the whole team

Best experience we could ever imagined. We booked the day prior and got a message regarding pick up - we asked our hotel to call to double confirm and we recommend this as it was earlier than we realised. The drive there was interesting as it’s through the desert in the pitch black with a driver that doesn’t speak much English - so we were a bit clueless as to what was going on. When we arrived we had pastries, orange juice & coffee laid out for us help yourself kind of thing. There are like 100 people there by the way but still feels cool everyone is buzzing and energy bouncing. Then we are directed to our balloon and helped in. The actual flying was incredible there were around 8 other balloons up so it was just amazing watching the sun come up as wel from the sky. The ride lasted probably 45 mins and then we landed were picked up and taken back to the main tent where we had more breakfast items and got to chat with other people which was nice. Then we went to the camel which we didn’t participate in, it was the only negative to the experience, it felt very staged / in authentic and the camels looked a little distressed so we waited whilst the rest of the group went for a 20 min ride, then we went back to the pick up point. I would 100000% recommend though it was an amazing experience and a beautiful place to do it.

We are staying in essouira but will get a driver over to the start point if possible. Can we speak to someone directly to organise this?

I guess you can . Best things to do I'd say is look them up online and make contact.

We are 2 and we are booking for September. Is it possible for us to do a longer camel ride of 30 mins?
We are very concerned about it being only 15min. We would happily have a smaller breakfast.

BTW, I don't think the camel ride will be any longer even if you get there earlier. The camel tour only goes a set path before they turn it around and head back towards your 4x4. Perhaps speak to them and let them know and see if they can make an exception for the two of you.

Is it best or cheaper to pay in advance via a website or in person through a tour agency at the hotel?

We booked and paid through TripAdvisor and we found that to be the most affordable and reliable option

Is there any space to sit down during the air balloon ride? For someone who struggles to stand for long periods of time
Written 5 November 2022
It depends on the type of ride: group rides, no, but there’s also some special rides with breakfast at the ballon.
